Hey Kalamari... I have to ask, is your character descended from Nondrick, or otherwise related to Nordrick the NPC?

Just thinking, could we add in a mine? Sorry if this question is getting repetive, but I think it would help with the RP and all. And judging by some of the posts mentioning that the Rift is rather volcanic land, perhaps we could have something like Ebony or Glass as the main source of income for the mine? They are formed by volcanoes, if I am right. However, that might be a bit overpowered. I just don't want the mine to be some iron mine, or something so utterly genric like that. Besides, the cost to clean it out would not be worth it all for iron. So the mine needs to have something inside it. Perhaps Charus? Or would that also what do guys think should be in the mine, both ore wise and foe wise. I'm just not sure, and I think your guy's input would be helpful.

As for the reply of your question Scow2, the answer is no. he's just based off of Nondrick and Nordike. He's real fun to play as in Skyrim. He's just a genric man. Funny thing is though, Nordike lead a frost troll into dawnstar. I lead horkers into the town. Nordike's frost troll killed 3 people. Nellis's horkers killed 4.

I think a mine is a great idea. Maybe there is an old abandoned mine nearbye, that mysteriously went out of use? It'll need clearing out, and then a source of income! As regards to the ore in question, I guess that is up to Lizard Wizard, though something like Moonstone might be good. Or Orichalcum for our Orc blacksmith?

I was thinking Moonstone or Quicksliver. Orchalcum would work to. Perhaps there could be a few ebony or glass veins at the very bottom of it all, like in Redbelly mine at Shor's Stone. Could cause quite the problem if word got out about it. I mean, what blacksmith wouldn't want Ebony Ore? They might even willing to kill for it!

I'm thinking Iron, Corundum, and Gold are better, with one or two Ebony deposits. Not Moonstone or Glass.

I'm not a huge lore buff or anything, but isn't ebony found exclusively in Morrowind? Somethin' about Lorkhan's blood being mixed with molten rock I believe.

It's also found in Skyrim, especially The Rift, which shares the same volcanic area as Red Mountain. Lorkhan's blood is everywhere, not just restricted to Morrowind.

Ah okay, that makes perfect sense then.

Where's our WIzard Lizard?

And I wish Not Provided would show up and post... I feel I could get a bit more interaction between her and Tsavani before I have her go off and stop a witch from steeling her kill.

Sorry for the absence, I was visiting my brother most of the day. I think our mine would be better off if it was full of corundum and orichalcum. I need to check this, but I believe that they're common in the area. Really though, any ore is fine as long as you don't go crazy and have ridiculous amounts of ebony, but a little is fine.

Name: Varlamo Aicandil
Age: 116 (Quite young for an Altmer.)
Race: Altmer
Gender: Male
Height: Relatively tall for an Altmer even, so he'd tower over your average Nord.
Birthsign: The Tower (Varlamo has a very acute understand of The Tower, and its metaphysical meanings, which seeps into his personality.)

Appearance: http://i40.tinypic.com/6sx2tj.jpg

Class (What would you describe your character as?): Altmeri Battlemage, Thalmor Justiciar and Thalmor Politician.

Skills and known spells (if any):
Combat: He has been trained by varying tutors in the art of combat from a young age. Varlamo has been taught in several sword martial arts, and in varying magic schools both by tutors and at magical colleges. His magical style and spells are based upon the Altmeri magical doctrine. He specialises in the Destruction (primarily a fire mage) and Alteration schools and has little knowledge of the other schools.

Other: Varlamo has experienced a long and detailed education, bred and reared to be a perfect Thalmor politician and missionary. He has a vast knowledge, almost all of which comes from biased Thalmor Lessonates however, possessing very little actual experience. He is slimy, sly, intelligent, perceptive, far-seeing and tactically very sound of mind.

Clothing / armor: He adorns full Elven (minus the helmet), however the elven armour has Ebony plates, the black metal covered in ornate gold gilding. A very large muddied black fur outlined velvet cloak/cape drags behind him.
Weapons: A traditional Ebony longsword, unenchanted and never properly used. (More like a Morrowind style Ebony longsword.)
Miscellaneous Items: Carries on his horse in small trapped chests a relatively large sum of money as assigned by his Thalmor superiors for any purposes possibly needed. Apart from a few books, he is travelling light.

Personality: He is known to be ambitious, very calm and highly intelligent, a promising young Thalmor battlemage. He is however utterly meglomanical and egotistical, and lives life like a game, a game in which he is playing and aims to win in. He is without emotion, and does not understand love and kindness, even such feelings as hate and dislike seem otherworldly to Varlamo. He is not even passionate or holds feelings towards the Thalmor cause and anti Talos worship, although he may pretend he does, he merely plays along with the whole ordeal. He's basically pure calculated evil, the worst kind of person. (Quite funnily, my main inspiration for him came from the UK Prime Minister David Cameron, it has obviously advanced quite a lot further, but still lol).
Major Flaw: He is not without his flaws however. His main flaw can be attributed to his huge inexperience. He has never left the safety and very unusual world of the Summerset Isles. He is young for an Altmer, and has seen little of the world. He is very naive and his inexperience and world view that is based purely on biased Thalmor education can lead him to have certain misconceptions and make mistakes. He cannot stand losing or being wrong, havind not had much experience in such circumstances. He is a psychoanolyst's dream, he could be attributed to have many mental disorders, primarily psychopathy. His simple incomprehension of emotion can be a huge weakness as well as a strength. He may also be well taught in combat, but in practise can be nervous and panicky due to his inexperience. His bark is bigger than his bite when it comes to combat, but still should not be underestimated as he is certainly a force to be reckoned with. He does not rely upon his combat skills for survival, but his wit and plotting.

Background: Born and raised in Alinor, capital ofthe Summerset Isles under the 2nd Aldmeri Dominion into a rich and influential noble family, Varlamo was brought up with all of life's privaledges and given a sublime education. He spent all of his early life learning and advancing in his already planned place as a political player and powerful Thalmor official. Absolutely smothered in Thalmor, master-race and anti-man propoganda, and surrounded by the finest tutors and academics money could buy, Varlamo began to lose emotion from an early age, and began to focus purely on his studies. Once his long period of education was beginning to draw to a close around the age of 80, the Great War began between the Mede Empire and the 2nd Aldmeri Dominion and the Aicandil family was at the heart of Thalmor politics. Varlamo however, did not depart as a military leader and tactician as offered by his family, and decided to stay at home and advance his studies. By the end of the Great War, the Aicandil family had lost some of its influence, and Varlamo was now beginning to be pestered for his inactivity. Being offered the rank and station as a respectable Justiciar, he accepted happily, and was now beginning to plan his surprise visit to the young and vulnerable Nordic hold of Valton. However, he did not just have Heretic hunting in mind, planning to do something more impressive that would be noticed back in Alinor, advancing himself on a poltical level.

It could be a large system of mines filled with a lot of dangerous things, meaning we clear out the first area and get to corondum and iron (combined to steel) and if we adventure onwards in the mine we might find gold and quicksilver and silver. Then, even further down we could perhaps start finding orchalium. Then we come to the very last area which has some super epic boss waiting for us and that area contains ebony.

This would mean it'd take a week or more to reach the ebony thing. At the same time, town ecomonics would boost with the new findings we do and make an adventure into the deeper parts of the mine quite profitable.

Without water transport, the best things to have close by for a developping hold would be timber, building stone and iron/corundum ore - those will provide the required building material without the large expense of dragging them by cart from more developed areas.

If you have a reliable waterway things change as you can transport goods for a fraction of the cost, but without that, only high value/low bulk goods are transported by road over more than a short distance.

I think we have access to Water Transport, since we're downstream from Riften.

I hate it when I don't know what I want to do, and with Elena's post being Not Provided, I'm stuck at the hotsprings... Does Tsavani chase down the witch and demand to know what she's doing with the corpse, go to the Inn and dry off (And get the REST of the town's attention?), dry herself off with Flames, or go visit the Orc and discuss flaying and turning the cat into a pelt?

I'd say ... do whatever it is your character would do. Maybe useless advice.

I get the feeling this will be quite an unstructured RP. Either we have to have a bit more input from our GM ... or we have to invent our own stories/objectives.

I think this will be a more dynamic RP, with us inventing our own stories and objectives rather than following a plot made by the GM.

This was a given :)

Kind of like Dwarf Fortress, without the clunky UI! And with all the buildings pre-fabricated and set up.

Yah but I reckon we still need GM posts if only to do something simple as setting the time ie morning/night etc and moving the days along. I remember one RP I played where the GM just gave us a map and some rules. By 300 posts, we were all basically writing our own novels with no relationship to each other in terms of time/space.
