'Valton: The New Hold' RP Thread #2

Daikanos, Valton Streets, Back of Anika’s shop, around midday
“How is the horse?” Daikanos asked, “And does anyone know from where it came?”
Annika, behind Valton General Store
"The horse is doing much better. I need to make a paste that my mother used to make for wounds. It will harden and act as a bandage, letting the wound clot underneath, which is good. And as for where it came from, we," she gestured to herself and the new man in town, "were thinking it came from the carriage man that dropped him off eariler. He said he was heading to Riften or something."

Alguidar, Behind Valton General Store

"Yes." Said Alguidar to the tall Dunmer, still looking to see if any guards were passing by.

"It's Aguaar's. The carriage. He was going to Riften. Not that long ago." His eyes finally locked on the dark elf.

"Damn elves, they're everywhere!" he thought while he said "Have you seen any guards around here? We need to alert the guards!"

Random guards, (not the ones inside the inn), Valton, midday.

“I want you to get five guards ready with horses to meet me at the general store.” Daikanos ordered the Nord. “What are you still standing there, move it!”
The guard nodded and said, “Yes, sir.” And ran towards the barracks.

"You've got a mission boys! Five of you need to grab horses and gear and meet a dunmer named Daikanos at the general store. He'll tell you what to do."
Without hesitation, five guards stormed out of the barracks on horse-back and arrived at the store. Daikanos could probably hear them before he saw them as they arrived at the scene. One of them turned to Daikanos and asked him,
"What's going on here?"

OOC: Daikanos, I think you can take control of the guards from daikanos perspective from now on.

Danus Maximus. Guddslott Hall. Midday.

Danus was in fact correct that the Jarl will refuse the offer. After the Jarl gave him a cold look it conviced Danus that to even convice Radwulf to allow even a small amount of Imperial Soldiers would be harder than he originally thought. And since it seems that the jarl look very angry it seems that Danus would have to wait for him to calm down to try again.

"Well Radwulf, It seems that you are not in the right mood at the moment. I will respect that and wait till you are calmed down. We will talk about this later."

As Danus left the hall to take another stroll with his bodyguards He is thinking of what to do now. As he is walking He heard someone talking and a horse. very curious he decided to see what is going. As he is behind the General store he sees a Nordic woman tending to a horse who judging by an arrow nearby and the wound to it's barrel it indicates that the horse is injured.

"What happened?" Asked Danus.

Daikanos, Behind Valton General Store

"It's Aguaar's. The carriage. He was going to Riften. Not that long ago." The man’s eyes finally locked on him. "Have you seen any guards around here? We need to alert the guards!"

Diakanos had to supress a smile from spreading on his face at the man’s question. “I’ve warned them and they sh...-” He heard the sounds of galloping horses. “and here they are.” Daikanos answered and turned towards one of the guards stepping around the Store to where they were.

“The locals said you were here. We are ready, and I have brought your horse as well since I thought you’d want to join us, captain?” The Nord said while he pointed to the streets were the other guards were waiting. “Where are we going?”

Daikanos nodded. “Towards Riften. Let’s not waste a minute longer. They might have inprisoned a man.” He said while he rushed past the guard. Just before he would leave the man’s sight he turned around. “Make sure to keep your mouth shut about bandits. I don’t want panic in town.”

He ran to the others, passed a man with some bodyguards, but didn’t pay attention to him, and without effort jumped on his horse. The guard followed him and when he was also seated on his horse, Daikanos motion the six guards to ride out. “We take the road to Riften, keep your eyes open and look for anything related to a battle.”

When he rode out of town he started murmuring some shielding spells that would deflect arrows and blows that were a direct treath to his life. From now on I won’t start my work without putting my armor on.

Alguidar, Behind Valton General Store

The Elf left quickly, giving commands to the soldiers as if he was in a position of power. Alguidar couldn't believe his eyes, he could barely tolerate having them in Skyrim, but giving them power over Nords? On Nords' Lands? As if this wasn't enough, an Imperial with bodyguards just arrived at the scene. Alguidar remembered them, they were staying at the keep.

"First the Elf, now the damn Imperials, always meddling with Nord business. They don't care about us." he thought. Aguaar's fate, the Elf and now the Imperial, all of it was bringing Alguidar over the edge. Worry gave rise to anger quickly as everything was happening at once.

Alguidar couldn't resist voicing his anger, as the Imperial was asking questions to the Nord woman.

"Nothing we, Nords, can't handle for ourselves! What's in it for you, outsider? Your feign interest doesn't deceive me, Imperial!"

Danus Maximus. Behind Valton General Store.

Danus was offended by what the Nord said.

"Listen I am not trying to govern over you. I just want to know what happened."

Danus Maximus. Behind Valton General Store.

"Listen I am not trying to govern over you. I just want to know what happened."

Alguidar, Behind Valton General Store

"You're not? Isn't that why you're in Valton, Imperial?" Yelled Alguidar. His face was red and he was waving his arms in the air.

Alguidar was emotionally compromised. Aguaar could be dead and his farm might be in danger. Then came the man in the uniform. Alguidar hated that uniform, it represented everything wrong about Skyrim. When he saw it, he just couldn't help it, but to take it all out on the Imperial wearing it, even if he had nothing to do with the events that brought him to this state.

He remembered his place though. The Imperial could have him in trouble. Even without concrete evidence, his public speech could be used to condemn the farmer of working for the rebellion. He knew stories, back in Windhelm. Nords were caught, accused and condemned to death by Imperials, so fast that there was no time for them to defend themselves.

Alguidar remembered the stories. He remembered the injustices. The deaths. He remembered that this wasn't Windhelm anymore. That he had to be more careful. His tone went down quite a bit as he finally answered the Imperial's question.

"Anyway, the horse is from the carriage that brought me here. Someone shot it with an arrow. Aguaar was riding it. I hope he's alright. The guards went in that direction." Said Alguidar, looking down, wondering how could someone harm such a helpful Nord.

Danus Maximus. Behind General Store. Midday.
When Danus mentioned this Aguaar person he felt bad. And knew that Aguaar must be a close friend of the nord.

"So Aguaar must be a friend of yours. I do hope he is ok. I know what it feels like to lose someone close." Danus tried to control it but a few tears came out of his eyes as he remembered about what happened to his mother "If he is alive may he return to riften safely. If he is not then may Arkay have mercy on his soul. I am sorry for intruding. Anyway I can help citizen?"

Alguidar, Behind Valton General Store

"A friend. Yes. I met him in Windhelm and we traveled together for days. The only friend I had in the whole Rift."

Alguidar looked at the Imperial. Either he was putting a very convincing act or he actually cared about the Nord. Either way, Alguidar let his guard down.

"I'm a simple man, Imperial. I'm not a soldier. Everyone wants to draw blood for a piece of our land. I just want to work the land."

He pictured war sparking in the Rift. Imperial and Stormcloak forces clashing and taking innocent victims, like Aguaar. Comforted by the thought that the guards were patrolling the roads now, he wanted to check if the farm he just bought was still intact.

"If you'll excuse me, outsider, I'll go check on my farm now." he turned, stopped, then added: "For an Imperial... you're alright."

Danus Maximus. Behind the general store. Midday.

While Danus felt bad for the poor Nord who might be dead he does however see this as an opportunity to increase the chances for the Jarl to allow Imperial soldiers within the hold. He then asked the Nordic woman.

"Well I wonder if that poor bastard is still alive."

Roymund Inventius, Valton Farm.

Approaching the farmstead from the road, Roymund took note of the farmlands disrepair "Looks like this fellow has his work cut out.." he though. He held out a hand to open the gate, though upon his grasp it slipped from the wrotten hinge it once sat upon. "Bugger" he mumbled, quickly peering around incase the farmer was watching, he propped the loose gate up against the fence and continued his slumping walk towards the farmhouse.

*Knock Knock*

Roymund waited a moment then after hearing no movement, moved to peer into the dust-smothered window "Hello?" he called out.
"Guess the poor sods given up on the farm already" thought Roymund, slinging his pack to the floor beside the doorway. Spotting a water trough to the side of the house, he moved towards it and splashed his face with the stale-tasting water "Do an animal, it'll do me.." he mumbled in a petty tone.

He returned to his pack, slung it over his shoulder and stepped along the shaded side of the homestead. Dropping his pack once more, he joined it on the ground, Propped up with his back against the buildings walls he endulged himself with a short nap.

Annika, Behind Valton General Store.
Annika watched as Alguidar walked away, but then turned her attention to Danus's question.
"Well I wonder if that poor bastard is still alive."
Annika shook her head. "For a horse to be detached from his wagon, and running with an arrow out his side, it must have been horrible."
Then she walked back over to the horse, and removed its bridle. The horse yawned with relef to have the cold metal bit out of his mouth.
"So what are we going to do?" she asked Danus, looking at him while playing with the horse's forelock. (the bit of hair hanging over the horse's face.)

Danus Maximus. Behind the General store. Midday.

"We? Well for now there is nothing we can do. Maybe if you want you can go and find the bandits. However I am merely a diplomat and to go hunting down bandits would not please my superiors. What makes this worse is that since the hold is new it is weak. And there is a possibility there will be a raid. Let's just hope it dosen't happened."

Annika, Behind Valton General Store, midday
Annika listened quietly to Danus's words. "Imperials." she thought to herself.
"I honestly do not think I'd go looking for bandits on my own," she gave a small laugh as she said these words, "but I would go if I had somebody go with me. For now I'll just take care of the horse." She threw the water out of the bucket and put the rags into the bucket.

"Let's hope that they will get caught. Anyway I think it's best the Jarl should know about this. I am going to the keep. If only that damn horse can talk." He said laughing. "Well I have business to attend to." ? Danus then walks away to Guddslott hall

As he entered the hall he then said to the Jarl. "Radwulf. You may not know this but there is something we need to talk in private."

Annika, Behind Valton General Store.
After Danus had left, Annika closed the paddock door. She went inside the back of the shop and got a fresh bucket, then filled it with water. She placed it out for the horse to drink. She collected the harnesses and bridle to put in the shop for later use. She sat on the steps to the back of the General store as watched the horse nibbling on grass. "Archer." she said to herself, "No, Faron," she thought for a second more, "Frost." she nodded her head to herself with approvel. "You are Frost," she said to the horse. She was so excited. She'd never owned a horse before. She took care of the ones in Windhelm, but never owned one. "Don't be hasty now, the Jarl might take the horse." Annika pushed the thoughts out of her head. She stood and went back into the shop, taking one last look at Frost, before shutting the door behind her.

Jarl Radwulf Spurvhauke, Gudslott Hall, Midday

The Jarl had gotten words of the horse incident almost instantly. He'd also heard of the quick actions the new captain of the guards had done. A group of around six or seven guards, including the captain, were on their way to investigate the events. The Jarls mind raced back and forth. Were his citizens no longer safe? This was, however, not entirely unpredicted. Bandits trying to take advantage of a new hold was very common. He was surprised it hadn't happened sooner. Danus the imperial returned once again. Hadn't the Jarl specifically told him that they wouldn't discuss this any further? He was testing the Jarls patience by merely entering the hall. When the man spoke, he sounded confident, but the Jarl could sense a small hint of fear in those eyes. "What's going on..?", the Jarl thought.

"This?" he thought. "The bandits? The horse? The assault? The search party?" Radwuld studied the Danus face. No, it couldn't be something so simple and open. There'd be no reason for him to want to speak in private with the Jarl about that. They were alone in the grand hall, except for two guards and the writer. Reluctantly, Radwulf dismissed them all, leaving Danus and him alone in the hall. He stood up from the throne and waved a hand to Danus to follow him to a side-room as a precaution. A table with a map of Skyrim and Cyrodiil greeted them. Radwulf sat on one of the chairs at the end of the table and motioned Danus to take a seat as well.

"We do, now do we? Well then, speak." The Jarl said and knocked on the table with his fingers, keeping his eyes on Danus at all times.

Alguidar, Valton Farm

Alguidar took his time as he traveled to the farm. He was tired from all the running and all the commotion.

"What a day I'm having." He thought as his mind wondered through many random things. The sunny, warm day felt like a blessing, something extremely valuable back at Windhelm. Here, it seemed everyone took that for granted. The Nord woman tending the horse, he didn't remember her name though. Alguidar just realized he didn't even ask.

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted when he got to the farm's gate. The gate wasn't there and there was an imperial, sleeping by the house. He was armed with a bow.

"Could this be the one who attacked Aguaar?" he thought as his body froze in place. "Now the bastard came after me!"

Alguidar looked around for guards. There was no one. "I'm going to avenge you Aguaar!" he thought as he slowly moved towards his woodcutter's axe. He quietly lifted it up from the ground and moved in front of the killer. He raised the axe above his head, as if he was going to chop wood, and yelled to the sleeping Imperial.

"WHERE'S AGUAAR? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?"

Roymund Inventius, Valton Farm.

Propped up against the house, Roymund's slumber kept his attention from his surroundings and more so on his dreams. His right arm twitched nervously from above his recent wound, it lay atop his travelling pack.

"WHERE'S AGUAAR? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" Bellowed the Nord, a lumber axe raised aloft his head.

Roymunds peaceful body jerked suddenly "Wha--.. Calm it, friend!" he cried, his hands both shot up in attempt of offering a yeilding posture. He winced at the pain from his right hand, but continued the arm movement anyway "I didnt do anything! Just a huntsman, me!" he followed up his shouts with explaination "Was just up in the woods is all, Hunting deer!" he motioned at his pack, the bucks horns protruded from the pack. "See? Naught suspicious! Took an injury on route to town, fancied my chances of a rest up here first"

Many thoughts rushed through Roymunds mind "Big fellow with an axe? Knife behind me back, He looks weary from settling in, Should be slow. Let him make the first move. Explain yourself. Doesnt look like a killer..Who's Aguaar?" all he thought.

Alguidar, Valton Farm

Alguidar listened to the Imperial as the axe hovered his head. "Very convenient... I'll get the truth out of you, one way or another, vermin." he thought, as he tried to look as menacing as possible.

As words continued to clumsily come out of the distressed Imperial, he started to reconsider. He didn't look like a bandit. What kind of bandit would fall asleep in his farm? He looked like a hunter and he was wounded. Probably a citizen but maybe a traveler, looking for shelter. As much as he hated Imperials, his story matched. He had to respect a hard worker, one that wasn't in Skyrim to rule or steal from the land.

Alguidar slowly lowered his axe to his waist line. His eyes jumped from the hunter to the horns on his backpack. Then back to the hunter. He extended his hand to him and said "You didn't happen to mistake a horse for a deer in your travels now did ya?"
