Vampire Face Glitch Help

Post » Thu Dec 23, 2010 2:25 am

So, I have the unfortunate vampire face glitch where my female bosmer vampire has the face of an old default male bosmer vampire.

I know you can fix this by loading a seperate save file and then loading your current one, but lets face it-- that gets very annoying very fast.

So I downloaded the Unofficial Oblivion patch following the advice of UESP, that didn't work . Starting a new character is a pain and I've done it before with the patch enabled from the very beginning and the glitch still occured.

Then I tried to download the "Vampire Race Disabler" as was recommended by UESP also, but the file won't show up in my Data Files no matter where I seem to put it.

Today I realized that there is the OBSE program... I know that it is suppose to allow you to extend your Oblivion file (the one with the 0s and 1s, you know what I mean) and so that's in my Oblivion program file. One of the pieces of the OBSE file is called obse_loader which is a program. When I run it, my game automatically starts up without the normal pre-game box which allows you to do things like enable certain files, etc. When I load my game with this file, my character's face is not glitched-- it is female young (though still has the normal vampire aging), and vampiric. Regardless if I try to launch my game normally from my desktop the face glitch is still there.

It is possible that my unofficial patch isn't working because I'm missing a critical extra file or something, but I don't know what it would be.

If this obse_loader is a solid solution, that's fine, I mean it's a little awkward going through my files to get to it each time, but as far as I can tell it has no adverse side effects. But I don't understand how this download-based method works and no others do. So if someone could explain to me what is happening here I'd be very grateful-- or if they could tell me how to fix this thing once and for all I'd be EXTREMELY grateful.

You need to put scanti's race disabler in the obse plugins folder as it is a dll, not an esp plugin, and yes, that requires obse to be installed. Get Oblivion mod manager to handle your mods instead of using the default data thingy that shipped with the game, and use obse launcher to start your game.

It sounds like you aren't using http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368. You'll need it to import and merge the elements of the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 and the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710 (yes, you need both of these.) to work properly.

Once you build your bashed patch you'll find the Vampire Aging and Face fix tweak, which should fix your issue.

Thank you both very much!

I got the Race Disabler to work, though the intended effect wasn't reached, I can alter my character's eyes/aging/etc, but without the OBSE launcher she still has the male face. However I've just made a shortcut to the application so it's all good.
I was just concerned that maybe I was messing things up by using the OBSE launcher, so it's good to know I can continue to use it.

And thank you Hanaisse! I will download the patch supplemental right away!
