Right. Welcome to the Fanfiction forum.

There's a general way we tend to do things here. Generally, you check to see if anybody's interested in the RP, then you start a signup and discussion thread where people send in character sheets, and then you start a separate thread for the actual roleplay. It's generally agreed that you need a fairly concrete backstory before you can start. There's nothing wrong with doing it a completely different way, but this forum has done it this way for long enough that experimenting isn't really guaranteed to go over well.

I also heartily recommend you read Illusionary Nothing's RP Guide. Not everybody here agrees with it, but it's a great help to people who've just come here.

In fact, while I may hate it, and view it as highly limiting, it still is essential reading.

I found it useful to a point... I don't use it as a bible, but one thing I will say I use as a bible is Gerald Duval's guide to Battle RP's, which I try my best to stay as close to as possible...

Yeah.. Not provided got it right. I can't help but think of a certain lord of the rings meme when I say this but...

One does not simply,

Create an RP thread out of the blue.

Yes, but the Soul, Charon, Uriel, Yes Man, and Gaius RP's show us, you can still have a successful RP without it...

You realize that I was talking right...? And believe me, sometimes it's fun to have OP characters, and other times (such as A Province Divided) I enjoy our limited characters just as much...

I did, I just didn't want to leave you out.

And I do enjoy our limited characters. Flavius may be my favorite character I've ever RP'ed.

It's cool, we all do this kind of thing when we're new. If you need any help getting acquainted with the forum, feel free to ask. This place might seem a little bit intimidating at first, but most people here are pretty friendly. Hope to see you around in zee future.

Honestly its not too bad. I recommend reading the stickied guide at the top (but don't take it to heart too much, its not an end all guide, just more showing basically how things are generally done around here and what's accepted or not) then read a few on-going RP's. Then join a few. Then after a while you'll be able to see basically what is wanted from the creator of an RP and how much depth is usually wanted.

The whole "walk before you run" thing basically.

Locked per OP request.

And don't worry, we are all new once. It may help you to read all of the pinned threads. :)
