Vampire&Werebeast 9

I loved being a werewolf in Morrowind and I really want it to come back. I read and liked the idea of leveling up your werewolf level? To a certain point in which you could control your transformation and think it would be cool but what about before? I always got a little annoyed turning into a werewolf every night but it shouldn't be once or twice a month, that'd be too boring. How would you balance it out?

It depends...Lore wise transformations for lycanthropes occurs only about 2-3 nights in a month. That would be harder to calculate given the fact that in the Elder Scrolls there are two moons.
When playing Bloodmoon (PC) I always installed a mod for Hircine's ring that would allow the player to transform only when the ring was removed.

I like the idea of werebeasts but I think I'd try to play as a vampire. My favorite sort of vampire are the ones in the novel series Vampire Wars. They are on the more barbaric side.
They are described as the ultimate evil, no compassion what so ever and they see emotions as a weakness, and my favorite part, they refer to humans as the cattle.

I vote for that.

But I would like a noble clan in the game as well. That are cultured, inteligent, calm, they kill they're pray swiftly and they drink blood from a shampane glass.

That would be the Order clan from Cyrodiil. The most competitive tribe of vampires who wiped out every other vampire that doesn't belong in their clan or bloodline from entering Cyrodiil's borders. They consider mortals and humans as pawns, tools and cattle to be used and disposed of. They are some of the politicians and nobles of Cyrodiil, blending in as humans if well fed. The most badass clan in my opinion. I know other people have otherwise.

What do you guys think about sun damage? Part of the biggest pain in OB was that days went by too fast, you'd be in the mid of a quest and whoops, suns coming up at mach 9 trillion, you have 2 seconds to hide!

Tone it down, adjust timescale (I did this in OB)? Take it out?

Sun damage is one of the things most people immediately think of when hearing the term vampire... well, that or Twilight, but that's not the point. I've always loved playing a vampire character in TES, it's just a different way to play the game. However for Skyrim I definitely think vampires need an overhaul. There are obvious questions such as; should vampires suffer sun damage whilst hiding in the shadows? Should vampires grow more powerful upon feeding, rather than the vice versa effect we had in Oblivion?

Which is a good thing. Since many people like the barbaric animalistic vampire while others like the noble and civilized yet dangerously predatorial vampires like the Cyrodilic ones. It makes sense for them to have many different clans. Mostly being barbaric blood-drinkers.

This is why I like TES' vampirism - the clans are (potentially) infinitely flexible. And according to http://www.imperial-library.info/content/oblivion-immortal-blood...

He wanted to know about the vampires of eastern Skyrim. I told him about the most powerful tribe, the Volkihar,

... In addition to the Volkihar, there's at least one other "tribe" of vampires in Skyrim.

Where is this other tribe? (Asks the author, gripping tightly to a wooden stake and whittling it down carefully)

We don't know. The author kept his mouth shut on that. Although I love that some vampires burn while going into chapels and such. Funny thing is the narrarator has his own Chapel and he's a vampire lol.

Guys I love the powers that the werewolves and vampires have but you are forgetting weaknesses. The weaknesses separate us from regular players. Not many people play as vampires BECAUSE of sunlight damage but we still do. We do need weaknesses otherwise everyone is going to play as vampires or werewolves.

Agreed.

I wrote a whole bunch of "salient powers" and "salient weaknesses" for my gameworld's vampires ages ago; I should see if I can't dig them up. I don't suppose Skyrim will feature "negative perks" though, which would be perfect for this sort of thing.

You never read the in-game book, "Immortal Blood"? The main guy is a vampire who sends out a vampire hunter to kill other clans. In return, he gives him more information on other vampires. When the time came for the man to search for the Cyrodilic vampires, the main narrator chapel guy kills him.

Also, read Vampires of IIliac Bay for more information on the Daggerfall vampires(Who lose health when entering a chapel).

The Ninth Vampire&Werebeast thread...
This thread is for discussion of the vampires, werebears, and werewolves we hope to see in Skyrim...

I think i'd be cool if each werebeast and vampire clan have atleast one unique power...

1. Volkihar. The ability to go through ice.
2. Volkihar. The ability to freze with their breath.

3. Werewolves. If this was implemented I'd be power enough.
NeverComingBack, on 20 February 2011 - 01:32 PM, said:
Here's an idea for werewolves: Werewolves mostly run alone but if Hirchine has a quest for them they may unite in dozens and lay siege on cities (would be a cool hircihines quest for werewolves only to destroy a city) while in wolf form they should be considered wolf by other wolves, and if you prove your power to agroup of wolves by killing (or horrible crippeling) their pack leader, during this time the pack is yours and the wolves are yours to command... their den your home and their enemys your enemys, infact other wolf pack may attack your den and lead to an allout war until your den has been taken or your enemy killed, all this should go on during your two-day-a-month long time as a werewolf (two moons equal dubble full-moon and just because it ain't night douesn't mean the fullmoon won't show) once your back in human form the wolves will attack you, no longger seeing you as their brother and when you transform back into werewolf you'll have to find a new pack... this would truly be epic and would add so much to the 48 hours of bloodsheat...

4. Werebears. An epic power would be the ability to grow up to x3 as big get up to x3 at all stats, health, fatigue, atributes, damage...

Shouldn't the thread title be "Vampires & Werebeasts"?

Thanks!.. And yeah it should... well to late to change now...

i think werebeasts should be able to transform anytime they want through a lesser power. for example i will cast the spell and turn into a werewolf, then cast it again to go back to my human form
but this effect shouldt happen for vamps because they cant go back to their human form

Do not worry. The Elder Scrolls series' Vamps and Weres have always had their weaknesses and vulnerabilities and their not going anywhere. Vampires are weak against sunlight and fire. Werebeast are vulnerable to silver weapons. Both are far from invulnerable and can also be dispatched by conventional means.

I don't know. The "tribes" or "clans" in tes always felt to me like someone had played the VTM/Dark Ages PnP and wanted that in tes but since it dosen't really focus on vampires it became kinda half assed and felt a little out of place. But to anyone who likes the vampires in TES I recommend playing Vampire: The Dark Ages, it's darker, set in our world(well an adaption of our world) and dosen't have classic fantasy races but it's still a medieval setting with a lot of emphasis on different vampire clans and the conflicts between them, the lore is massive. Of course it's a pen and paper role playing game so to anyone who isn't familiar with that it can take some time getting used to but it's really fun, challenges your imagination.

Yea, I really like the different clan variations. We have many in-game books on vampirism in the Elder Scrolls but my favorite is "Immortal Blood" and "Manifesto Cyrodiil Vampyrum". We have over 100 different variations of vampires in Tamriel. Dayum.

Well, at least it is merged.

I don't know, but I have mixed feelings if werewolves will be in or not. But I have high hopes.
