Vampireism ruining game

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:17 am

I played through the main storyline in Oblivion. Sometime in the game I cought vampireism. Back then, I actually did a quest (or a few) to remove it.

This time, playing Skyrim, I somehow cought vampireism too. After slaughtering Alduin and returning from the quest, I'm attacked everywhere I go. Vampireism. This time I won't bother trying to remove it, I simply quit playing the game.

This is incredibly annoying, and I strongly suggest you change the logics for this. Or, atleast inform the player much better on getting the disease, so one is able to "load" from a earlier save and try avoid getting it.

It was a very nice game up till this happened.

Have fun playing. I'm going somewhere else.

Then just become a werewolf before you do anything else. 100% resist disease.

you can stop vampirism before it happens. If your not sure you caught it, check your acitve effects in your magic effects menu. If you caught it, take a cure poison or pray at a temple and its gone.

If you don't take care of it, you gotta see some mage with a filled black soul gem.

You can catch vampirism by battling with a vampire.

I agree, it should say you contracted a disease. However, you DO know you can just feed to reduce it right? Besides, even with level one vampirism you get informed of it basically every morning and evening. I've gotten it twice and cured it before it progressed. Tips:

Always visit your favorite Divine's shrine when you go to a city.
Carry a cure disease potion at all times.
Always check for disease after tangling with a vampire.
Don't ragequit a game when YOU failed to notice something.

vampirism is incredibly easy to get rid of in this game... all you need is a soul trap and 10 minutes. maybe a couple hundred gold.

EDIT: It does tell you when youve contracted vampirism.... you have 3 days to cure it before you start to turn

Because "You have contracted Sanguinare Vampiris" and then checking out the active spell effects tells you that "progresses to vampirisim" isn't informing the player. Whut?

It's a curse. You can't just avoid curses. It's supposed to be a bad thing.

Ummm.... it takes about five days from the time you get the disease before you are a vampire. It gives you one heck of a warning at dawn at dusk each of those days. A cure disease potion would stop it at that point.

If you still become a vampire.... just feed. I don't get why people can't understand you need to actually FEED to keep from looking like an undead monster. Guards wouldn't attack you if you just ate someone.

I am still playing the game content to try to locate every map marker or at least a signifigant amount rather than do the main quest, especially having played several Bethesda type games like FO3 and FONV, Oblivion etc etc, that one has to stop the main quest and smell the side quest flowers. I have been vaguely aware of vampirism i have also killed quite a few vampires but as a mage i never really get close to them, so i never gave it a thought. I was sure that in Oblivion there was a "cure" and i just figured i would hit a town and thump a shrine in the event vampirism became a reality but as the poster above pointed out a potion will cure it which is a hell of a lot more convient than Oblivion was in that there was quests and a shrine (?) involved.

Because every time I make an argument about the TES series getting simpler and more linear with every new installment someone reminds me that the series really did need to be less complex so the wider audience could get it.

In TES:VI the game will freeze and a window will prompt up if you're fighting a vampire and you get the disease from it, the window will say "Would you like to contract the disease to become a Vampire ?" and our choices will be "Yes" and "No".

Anyway, here is some help in the link below.

Yea, the OP could have searched the wiki for help instead of coming to the forums announcing that he's quitting.
Perhaps troll.

I've counted the number of vampires in this game and frankly it's a bit concerning, I think in game vampires outnumber city folk by a fair margin. Skyrim is in more trouble from vampires than from the elves or the empire.

Indeed.

All you have to do in this game is visit a shine or drink a cure disease potion before you get full blown vampirism. It isn't that hard to cure.

:violin:

But jeeze. All I hear is a high pitched Whine.

Did you put any thought into it? You don't somehow catch the disease. You fight vampires, they hit you, there is a chance you will catch it. You catch it and the game tells you. You have a period of time (at least three days) after contracting it, when it is in its infancy, where you can cure it with mundane means (anything that can be relied upon to cure a disease).

After that period you can cure it with the vampiric cure quest (which you are aware exists) or catch something else that will cancel it out. Or you can live with it by drinking blood which will make you appear mortal enough to going about your business as normal (again, you said you played the Oblivion vamps so...).

But please, do leave. Do not try and actually, you know, play the game. Spare us the hysterics.

Because "You have contracted Sanguinare Vampiris" and then checking out the active spell effects tells you that "progresses to vampirisim" isn't informing the player. Whut?

Some people complain the game holds their hands too much. Others complain because it doesn't have warning sirens and pop ups telling you exactly what is happening and detailing exactly what you can do about it.

Some of you are so rude. The guy is frustrated with a problem and instead of helping, you ridicule.

The ridicule doesn't seem especially off considering the OP. And they didn't come seeking help, they came to proclaim they are going to stop playing the game.

Def troll, he joined just to post that

Seems quite plausible.

And the stage of vamirism your talking about about you would have pretty much been warned a few times before it got to you are hated by everyone stage.

My advice is wait trill nightflal sneak into someone's house feed, turns you to stage one and no more attacks, then go get rid of it
