I'm not sure myself either, but it had something to do with Molag Bal and Vivec I think. Something obscure with spear-shaped loves and stuff like that. Can't remember exactly.

It is generally accepted that Molag Bal is the father of vampires, although how he created them is subject to arguement.

Popular version: Molag Bal did it. Mystical scoffed at, underdog version: Vaermina did it.

I had the impression that Molag Bal cursed his dead enemies with vampirism.

I have never stepped foot in a thread that mentioned vampires, only to please my uninterest. The book point to Molag Bal, yes, but vampires are in every movie, RPG, and horror book. Let just assume that some satanist priest from the medevil times wanted a giant tic that could disguise itself as a human. Then that branched of into zombies, paleness, and utter ugliness.

I heard that Mo has sth to do with vampires but do they worship some sort of a god or daedra pherhaps? Why do they get nightmares?

There are some who think that Vampires were created by Vaermina, the Deadric Prince of Nightmares.

EDIT: Never mind. Everyone would just assume I was being facetious anyway.

"In Temple doctrine, one ancient tradition holds that, among his many other crimes, Molag Bal, the Father of Monsters, spawned the first vampire upon the corpse of a defeated foe. Several different versions of this story exist, with the foe variously identified as a Daedra Lord, a Temple Saint, or a powerful beast creature. This account of the origin of vampirism is peculiar to Morrowind, appearing nowhere else in Imperial lore. Unfortunately, scholarly inquiry upon this topic is discouraged by the Temple, which controls access to the only substantial collection of historical and cultural records in Morrowind."

"To Kin-father Molag Bal, who brought forth the Bloodmatron Lamae to spite Arkay, we owe our existence, as do all vampires, though not all honour Him. For him we revel in the feast, and acknowledge the gift adrift in our veins."

"To patron Clavicus Vile, beacon o'er our affairs, we owe our successes and social stature. Our bond with Vile makes us unique among our kind, for his guidance steels our savage craving with reason and savvy. For him we live amidst mankind, and twist them to our will from offices of power. "

Fragments from books from Morrowind and Oblivion, both detailing Vampires. I hope they're useful.

I'd say Daedra. The Sermon account of the marriage says only a race of mutants came from Vehk and Molag Bal. Might not be vampires at all.

Molag Bal made vampires, as said here, but as I read, Vile made a deal with them so that they could walk among the living unnoticed after feeding(as in Oblivion's system). There hasn't been detail on what he receives(or will receive) in return, though.

Well it's pretty obvious really, Clavicus Vile get's the one thing he's interested in, Dreamsleave Currency. Courtesy of each fresh kill, or each animus lost to the disease; pick your poison.

Some say they were created in part by multiple Daedra. I can't remember the line itself, but they had the destructive nature of Dagon, the subtlety of Boethiah, the violation of Bal, and Vaerina makes them have and be nightmares.

They can change. And that's all a vampire is. Make a few adjustments to a human, and you have a new thing.

Molag Bal, and I quote from 'Manifesto Cyrodiil Vampyrum' "On Our Dual Patrons: To Kin-father Molag Bal, who brought forth the Bloodmatron Lamae to spite Arkay, we owe our existence, as do all vampires, though not all honor Him."

But that book was written by an in-game character as well as a game dev, and that character had beliefs and opinions. So it may be clouded judgement. Other people say other things about it, including the Daedra themselves.

One does not simply rock into Coldharbor!

He helped some old guys achieve vampirism so what? That doesn't mean he made them.
