Well Skyrim vampires was mentioned in Lore so they really possible to be seen in game at last as powerful enemies, of course I hope on more at last one clan faction with quest lines and rank advancement, I was really disappointed in Oblivion vampires organization I hope for The Order but receive just aggressive mobs and few quest from individuals, but not form faction.
Great there was mods thats fix it.

Werewolf's can be done as creatures enemies for Hircine quests at last if not as playable state.

I'm personally more interested in vampires out the two. Presumably vampires and werebeasts will have unique perks too.

There should be an option called "F*** off, I want more dragons."

Eww. Maybe if we played as dragons, I would be interested. But since we can't...who the hell cares?

been doing alot of thinking after posting on the "oblivion vs twilight" thread. this is how i would like to see vampires and werebeasts handled in skyrim.

Vampires

I would like to see two dominant clans waging war in Skyrim, the Volkihar and the Cyrodiilic Vampires. the Volkihar are the natives of Skyrim and would have the upper hand in knowledge in terrain and already present strong holds (possibly beneath the frozen lakes of Skyrim). The Cyrodiilic Vampires would have a possible advantage in numbers and the ability to blend with society.

Why would the vampires of Cyrodiil invade Skyrim you ask? Simple, they are the ONLY clan in Cyrodiil and have no competition. that would mean the only thing for them to naturally do is grow. it would be possible that they would be imbarking conquest on all neiboring nations to Cyrodiil as the spread like wild fire.

I would like to see you be able to choose what clan you joined. being that modern society seems to be split on what a vampire should be I feel this would be the best way to handle it. you can either join the monstrous Volkihar that cant blend into human society and only grow stronger as they feed, or you can join the Cyrodiilic Vampire that trades power for cultural acceptance and must balance it.

I think it would be plausible to join either clan after contracting the desease from side. a new quest could come up after contracting it. from it you could either seek some one who know about the disease. they could ask you if you know what vampire bit you. when you ask why. he would begin to explain how they are having a underground war and if you dont seek the cure you could be caught in the crossfire. in this explanation he could drop clues on how to seek out the clans. if you were bitten by a Volkihar (which you would have ran into in the wilds) you can follow his hint on how to find them and join them. If you are bitten by Cyrodiil vampire (which will happen in a major city probably at night) you would do the same and go to their strong hold in one of the major cities.

But wait!!!! what if im bitten by a Volkihar and want to be a Cyrodiil vampire or vice versa? then you go to the side you want to join before the disease matures 3 days after you contract it. once there they will inspect you and see if your unladen vampire talents will be of use to them( which for RP reasons they of course will be). they will then hold a ceremony to convert you (which there may be a quest to gather a few things needed). during the quest they would have you consume a potion that will strip the disease of its dominant features that would have you turn into the other type of vampire and then they would bite you again, which would implant their dominant features into the disease. after the remaining time left for maturity you would then be one of them.

As for the quest plots with dealing with the rival clan i see it as this:

Volkihar trying to expose the Cyrodiilic Vampires to the humans by means of magic or alchemy that would expose them as what they really are. they would "poison" or "enchant" the water supply of the towns. the humans/mer/beastfolk would then drink the water and the effect would remain in them undetected and dormant, until they are fed upon by a vampire. after the vampire drinks from them they would begin to loose the "camouflage" and would slowly begin to look like they havnt drank in weeks. they only other choice they would have would be not to drink, but alas they would suffer the same effect. and the vampire hunters would then pounce upon them.

Cyrodillic vampires would venture out and try to discover the Volkihar strong holds and get as much detailed information on them as possible. this could be done with quests that would send you to frozen lakes where they are suspected to hide under. once there you would have several quest objectives from finding stronghold entrance to collecting a matriarchs dust as proof. with this proof they would manipulate local vampire hunters into attacking these strong holds.

Werebeasts

I would like to see both the were beasts that are in skyrim, werewolves and werebears. you could become one by either naturally contracting it form fighting one or seeking out the hircine shrine and submiting yourself to his will. if you go to him you can choose what werebeast you want to be. if you contract it naturally and would rather be the other beast you can seek out his shrine and become the other. he will only do this once though. and if you seek the cure well you should have to sacrifice something for the cure. this could be done through a quest line that would be dangerous and difficult. im not very familure with hircines lore but i would like to hear if he would do such a trade.

Hunters

Alternately i would like to see a guild that is dedicated to hunting both vampires and were beasts. this guild would be similar to the fighters guild where you would be sent off to investigate and kill any "unnatural" ocurances in skyrim. i would like there to be a type of quest line where you could climb their ranks and become a leader. after that though i would like random quests to become generated that you could take up so the hunting fun never ends.

Wolves seem to fit better than vampires is Skyrim. Must have something to do with how "rugged' and 'wild' the land is supposed to be.

I thought it was ridiculous in Oblivion that vampires were found using fire magic and fire weapons. If vampires are in Skyrim, I hope this time around they won't be wielding fire based weapons or spells being that they're suppose to have a major weakness against fire; that's almost like having a frost dragon have the ability to breath fire or have an ice creature that is obviously weak against fire, somehow managing to hold a fire based weapon with no fear of penalty.

No "I honestly have no interest in either" option? :)

(Vampires, at least, have been a basic feature in the last couple games - werewhatevers only showed up in a side expansion to MW and not at all in OB. On the other hand, between silly post-Buffy TV dramas, Anita Blake and other novels, Underworld, and the Twilight crap, vamps & weres are terribly overexposed and cliche. I'll be glad when that whole fandom dies down a bit.....)

Actually, lycanthropy has been in the series since Daggerfall. In fact there was a number of quests related to it in Daggerfall. You received various bonuses to skills and stats (some bonuses which were shared between human and Were form if I recall as well as immunities to anything less than silver weapons) while also having to feed every 15 days (else suffer heath penalties). Your Werewolf form was considered another character from your human form, so murders comitted by you while in Were form didn't go on your human forms criminal record (and vice versa). You could cure it with a cure disease spell (with 72 hours of contracting it I believe it was) however if you went past that 72 hours you would become a full lycanthrope and the only cure was from performing a quest. There also was a quest where if you completed it Hircune would give you "Hircune's Ring" which would no longer require you to feed every 15 days, you could change between humand and were forms at will (instead of twice per day) and no longer were forced to transform on full moons.

Really there was a lot that Lycanathropy added to the game. I'd love for it to return. Especially Wereboars! Screw Werewolves, Wereboars are where it's at!\

To those saying that Wereboars are mega super rare outside of Highrock? You need to remember that Highrock and Skyrim share a border. Additionally, in Daggerfall you also encountered Wereboars in Hammerfell which also happens to share a border with Skyrim. I'd say that it'd make plenty of sense that Wereboars could be found in Skyrim in at least decent numbers.

All of the lore I can find agrees with you that those beasts are extremely rare...In fact...There was only one mentioned in 'Daggerfall'...I wouldn't mind a wereboar in the game if this were the case...

Actually, at higher levels as I recall Wereboars became more common to encounter than Werewolves.

I wouldn't mind Wereboars as long as they don't get priority over the (native)Werebears. Although, honestly we'll be lucky if we get any type of Lycanthrophe.

Why is it that everytime there is a werebeast thread? Someone has to come up with a lame joke on manbear pig or wererooster or something.

I watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans recently. Does anyone else think the vampires presented in that film (and in-universe time period) would be an appealing inspiration for Cyrodilic vampires of Skyrim? The dark castles, nobility structure, and whatnot.
