I watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans recently. Does anyone else think the vampires presented in that film (and in-universe time period) would be an appealing inspiration for Cyrodilic vampires of Skyrim? The dark castles, nobility structure, and whatnot.

One of my favorite movies. The vampires from the film are somewhat closer to the Cyrodilic vampires. They often live secluded in castles and whatnot. Think of Lord Lovidicus who lived in his fort. But the Cyrodilic vampires sort of differ from them. Like for example, the vampires in castle Corvinus are more inclined to hang around their own. The entire castle is full of vampires and Lycanthropic servants. Whereas in Cyrodiil, I suppose a vampire of the Cyrodiilic tribe would be numbered to at least 2-4 in one area, let alone an entire establishment. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility since we have seen Jakben and his nest of vampires or Janus Hassildor and his wife, along with the pale lady snacking on criminals every now and then in the castle dungeon. But the noble structure and nobility and civilized ettiquette of the vampires do match the Order from Cyrodiil. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the Cyrodilic tribe having their own power leader or influential higher-up. They must have a social circle of sorts.

This. Can rule be dont mention twilight at all?

I think the forum autocensor needs to catch it as well; it's just a pity that the word "twilight" is such a pleasant one, and such a pleasant time of day, likely to be useful when our subjects are the creatures of the night. Maybe, when forced to refer to The Vampire Fiction Which Shall Not Be Named, we can instead type [sparkle], or similar.

Yeah, I see that - I think the overall aesthetic and lifestyle works rather well, even if we assume there'd be far fewer vampires in a particular dwelling. It's a pity there isn't more lore concerning this kind of vampire. Maybe I need to start writing again and attempt some fanfiction.

Perhaps. There is enough lore to write about them. I already wrote a few chapters for my story regarding them. You got the entire Third Era to write about them. Since it's a fertile time frame that wasn't touched upon, you are free to add your own twist to the tale. Just use what we have seen in Oblivion.

While I am sure that both Vampires and Werewolves will be playable via a siring I am not sure why they have to stop simply at those two species. Werebeasts is a pretty broad idea technically the Vampire is a werebat. I think if they wanted to they could easily implement something similar to something like a disease from demon blood or have a quest where the player gets captured and is experimented on to be combined with the Daedra or even like a specter possession.

These would provide more choices and could have very simple appearance effects and skills. It's not like there is any scarcity to mad Mages and Necromancers trying to augment their power or servants. The Daedra questline however would have fit better within ESO.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion SPOILER ALERTS FOR NEW PLAYERS

We already know that the their are beings outside of simple Daedra, Gods, and Mortals. There are beings such as Sithis which is the embodiment on nothingness. We know the mortal plane was once another Daedric Realm like oblivion however with the "Gods" killing the Lord I personally see no reason why it would be so hard to mix in some conventional Daedra in with the mortal races. I mean you litterally became a Daedra Lord in Shivering Isles although your powers where quite similar to a charlatan magician's.

Combine the player with a Daedra? WTF?

I don;t know about that. Believe it or not, but the aspect of draining someone's blood dry as a vampire or tearing them apart and devouring them as a werewolf is much more appealing than hacking and slashing as a Daedra. We can already do that sword stuff with Dragon dork born.

EDIT: I would even choose to be a Lich if werewolves or vampires aren't included. I can imagine svcking someone's life dry as they become souless husks. Think of the Mummy and how he did the whole soul svcking thing. Amazingly beautiful!

In Daggerfall we had vampires, werewolf's, and wereboars. Morrowind we had vampires and werewolf's, Oblivion we had vampires.

Not looking like a good future for this topic. Sad panda.

I can't possibly make a normal character/ Maybe it's because most games out there make you play as a normal character and I just so happen to be a big fan of all things dark and supernatural.

After looking at the poll results I think it's safe to say that people really want Lycanthrophes in this game.
Make it happen, Bethesda!

The poll is not about which you want in the game but which you prefer in general. Just to see which is more popular.

Hircine's realm as described in The Infernal City sounded amazing. I hope there is a quest line which takes place in his realm.
I doubt there would be enough to do in his realm to make it into a full fledged expansion or big DLC so it would be good as a quest line. On the other hand after seeing how lazy they got with the realms in Oblivion.(Give them all the same tile set as the Deadlands...) I'm not so sure if I want them to try.

Well...They did do a Hell of a job with 'The Shivering Isles', which leads me to believe that they could really http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oeyt9wNYhnQ if they seriously approached the Hunting Grounds...

Sheogorath's realm is a big and diverse one. Hircine's realm is just a forest in which hunts are being held and nothing else.

I don't know...Can you imagine a forest so strikingly beautiful and vast, with trees so tall and vast that they touch the foundations of the heavens? And game so plentiful that you can't throw a rock without hitting prey? A place where the witches of Glenmoril reside and Hircine's hounds and bears patrol ever watchful? And somewhere deep within that hunter's paradise the ancient maze-like halls of the Huntsman himself? No...I do not think it sounds like a boring place at all...

I never suggested it was a boring place. Just an amazing place with a lack of variety and not fit for any big expansion or DLC.
You used the Shivering Isles as an example, but that was an expansion and I just don't think Hircine's realm would be suitable for something like that.

Basically I want to see it but am afraid Bethesda won't do it justice like several realms in Oblivion.

Hircine's realm is not all forest, however. It has open plains and vast canyons. Hircine, being the god of the hunt, would surely have different enviorments to hunt. We already saw mazes in Bloodmoon, though in Nirn, it was an extension of his realm on Tamriel. I am sure there are jungles and maybe even an open tundra. Who knows? We have seen open plains and a large forest. I am also sure there can be people living in Hircine's realm. We saw from Infernal City that he has Lyanthropic nords(werebears) hunting any newcoming mortal, we can expect a hunter's camp or cottage in lore regarding the realm. They must have a place to live if they hunt during the day and at night too(If I recall, they stepped aside when Hircine came along. In reverance to the Prince, they stood by as Hircine and his werewolves attacked the protagonists.) The river was easily speculated to be blood because it was red. And also, Hircine's hunting grounds only has a single silver moon that matched earth. The sun is also bright red. If they add it into the game, which I doubt(After Shivering Isles, Bethesda said they are doing Fallout-like DLC.), I expect to see many interesting things. Not to mention the indiginous life such as those weird cattle animals that grazed on the fields.
