Vampirism... the faults...

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:30 am

Firstly, how is it possible that the NPCs know "my skin looks pale" etc. etc. when I'm all covered with armour and have a mask covering my face?

Also, how the hell will my "blood be boiling in the sun" when it's all cloudy, dark and snowy - even if it's morning as long as the sun is not out I should not get this message, and as long as I'm wearing armour that covers my whole body and face I should not get comments about my pale skin :/

That's a bit stupid really...

I personally think they need to balance vampirism with lycanthropy(Possible Spoilers). If a werewolf can have the ability to control when he changes, then there are no downsides to it. Where as a vampire even at stage 1 as soon as you go out in the sunlight your stam, health, and magicka don't regenerate and they're dropped. They should add a ring or an amulet or something (maybe even a patch where it just does this for you, no equipment needed) that allows you to have no downsides at vampirism stage 1, like in Oblivion.

Like all Elder Scrolls games the best vampire is a modded vampire.

Sadly, I didn't find many of Oblivions Vampire mods that great. Where as the Morrowind ones were terrific. I plan on modding Vampirism when the CS comes out.

For example: Bring back the clans and adding those from lore.

Well, on the other hand in Oblivion you DIED at any other stage out in the sunlight. So there's that.

Playing on PS3 :( hopefully they'll do something that will allow us to mod or fix vampirism for consoles.

@ post above me, I would much prefer dying on any other stage to no regen on magic/health/stam. At least that encourages good feeding habits.

If those are the only things you find fault with, then i don't think you've looked that deeply into it.

The Volkihar are made out to be feral and powerful ice vampires, and all we got was a rehash of the lazy joke vampire system from Oblivion.

Sadly, I didn't find many of Oblivions Vampire mods that great. Where as the Morrowind ones were terrific. I plan on modding Vampirism when the CS comes out.

Can i ask how you would remake the Volkihar?

It would be great but aside from DLC content I doubt they will. I'm surprised there isn't at least some kind of special CS kit for consoles. One that allows you to simply change numbers or appearances. Perhaps even a map-maker tool. Obviously it wouldn't allow scripting but I always felt there is room for some kind of player creation tool on consoles. I mean, look at FarCry 2. I thought that map-maker was great.

This makes sense since you get frost resistance with Vampirism.... so you should not be affected, or maybe even be stronger, when it's snowing and dark outside - and it doesn't matter if it's day or night, as long as there is no sun, or if it is sunny and you are outside but under the shadow of a house or something else then your blood should not 'boil'... :/

So OP is complaining of a mechanic the game uses to balance vampires. Guess you want to the powers of a vampires with out having the drawbacks. Some things escape immersion for sake of balance.

"How come my back doesn't break from falling 10 meters?"

The only point that is valid is the first one and it's a stupid one at that.

What are you serious? I was absolutly infuriated when i found out Vampired do not even die from sunlight anymore!

Vampires? not dying from Sunlight? it's the stupidest thing i've ever heard.. whats even the point of a vampire then!?

Also kind of upset about the zero drawbacks of being a Werewolf, i mean if i do not use the power myself i can completely forget i even am a werewolf, why not force trigger it if you go outside on a full moon atleast.

I agree with this. Once mods start coming out vampires will be worth playing.

My biggest problem with vampires is the feeding, to avoid every one going hostiles on stage 4. The amount of damned times I've sneaked into houses at 1, 2 or 3 am and found every one awake reading a book or walking around is annoying. Basically the only reliable places to feed are in the Jarls' Halls or in soldier barracks.

i'm not a vampire fan so i'd say the main fault with vampires is their existance, at least in Slyrim considering they r are nothing else than couple of powers added to a toon
in Morrowind at least they had a better lore

After your cured of being a *Spoilers* werewolf can you become a vampire again?, I was a vampire before but I did the companions quest and well...yeah as it turns out becoming a werewolf overrides being a vampire <_<

yea true vampires are jsut to rubbish compared to warewolves ofc in the elder scrolls universe warewolves are supposed to be stronger then vampires and thats fair enuff but with this skyrim incarnation of vampires they have been nerfd to much and need at least the old stat increases or some kind of magic run speed jump height augmentations spell sjut soething to make it a choice between the two not jsut o vamps are jsut humans with spells that u can get anyway

ps jsut found awesome thing as warewolf if you hold both triggers like dualwield power attack combo u grab guys by the head and throw them awesome haha

It's the same way with Lycanthropy. People comment, "Is that... fur? Growing out of your ears?", despite not being able to see my ears.

well the only alternative is, no comments at all on you when wearing armor other then something like

"Hey tinman, afraid to show us your face" or "Wanted criminal in there? Guards!!!"
