Van Buren what would it be like in a fallout 3 style gameplay?

Probably hated even worse than F3 by the [censored] and the NMA crowd.

Ausir's gonna love this idea.

There mere idea of it is making me rage hard.

Then again, FO3's gameplay isn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be before release. If we had a bit more emphasis on good writing (if that was "one of the battles they wanted to fight"), Beth Buren could have actually ended up pretty good.

East Coast is WAY better than the gloomy West Coast.

A higher concentration of cities, great landmarks.... I mean really, even today America is driven by the Northeast (The Washington DC - Baltimore - Philly - New York City - Boston) megapolis. All the action is here apart from entertainment industry that California likes so much.. pfft.

In general for gameplay wise, would you rather like to walking in a barren desert (The American Southwest is basically just 1 huge desert) or be able to travel to major NE cities within walking distance.

Pop-culture likes to glorify places like Miami, southern cali, Arizona with palm trees and beach resorts... but the Northeast is where things that really matter is located like Finance, Education, Industry and real culture. Don't buy into that MTV ridiculousness.

Personally, being a fan of the Classic Fallout's, the idea that Van Buren would be made in the Fallout 3 style....It would definitely be the death of the Fallout franchise!

It could be very interesting. Of course I would hope that they would do some better writng and dialogue and leave the whackiness out, and fix a few other things it would be pretty cool otherwise it would be just like the game we have now for better and for worse.

Arroyo in Fallout 2 was in Oregan.

I'm also pretty sure that New Reno was in Nevada.

On one hand, I'd like for the Van Buren designs to be used somehow instead of going to waste. On the other hand, I would of course prefer the original gameplay style.

Frankly, I prefer the world of the first two fallouts. Fallout 3 has a world too small in size and too many boring dungeon crawls. Fallout was fine without boring dungeon crawls, we didn't need them. I prefer places to be interesting, like The Glow and Sierra Army Deppot.

And gloomy? If you don't like your post-apocalypse gloomy, I think you are NOT in the right place, heh.

Play Jagged Alliance 2. Fallout 1&2 turnbased combat simply PALES compared to Jagged Alliance 2. We all wanted Fallout 3 to have more tactical combat instead of Fallout 3's idiotic battles. And frankly, Fallout 3 is mediocre as a RPG/FPS hybrid.

true there are flaws in the game play but its still a good game and if it was bigger and had more cities it would be a truly spectacular game, well even more so than it is right now(im all for mountain fighting)that fact that fallout started in california means that it should be a major part of the game now and forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if your truly wondering what a Van Buren game would look like with some modern muscle, or what F3 would have been like while keeping the 3rd person iso look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk9OORsmfbo&eurl=http://troika.wikia.com/wiki/Mistary_Video

this game sadly never got picked up or funded and the company melted all its assets to stay afloat hoping, praying someone would publish it. in the end there dream killed them, such as Van Buren killed Black Isle :(

It would have been awesome I was holding my breath on this one too. But I would like to point out that the game was going to have first person point of view as well as 3rd person ISO and you would be able to switch between them. I wish this game had been made. After the death of Van Buren this looked like the best hope. Yes The gaming companies and rich devs were stupid but so were many of the fans of Fallout who were very negative about this game.

Eh, wouldn't care for it to use Fallout 3's style. Van Buren was designed with a certain style of gameplay and the like and would be less enjoyable outside it.

Personally though, I think I'd enjoy the Fallout games with more survivor elements in them.

That's your opinion, many people have many different gameplay preferences. I, for one, consider the combat style in FO3 boring, since it presents no mental challenge for me.

To be truthful Fallout 1 and 2's combat system served no metal challenge either. The challenge was avoiding combat and being creative, which Fallout 3 needed more of. The combat in both games... ehhh I would prefer either a turn based system with more options or a real time system that involved more than point and shoot.
