Various crashes

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 4:06 am

I just got a new PC (AMD II x4 3,0Ghz, 4GB RAM, ATI Sapphire Radeon 6870) and I thought to try out Oblivion with some mods.

Thing is, it crashes... a lot. Especially when:

-Leaving cities
-Fast travelling
-Being detected by enemies
-And it just suddenly crashed when walking through a forest and a ruin loaded up in the distance.

I use OBGE, OBSE, all the unofficial patches, even the crash preventer plugin. Autosaves are turned off. All drivers updated. Using Windows 7.

Shaders loaded (if important): DepthOfField, Godrays, CelShader+EdgeAA

You are using cobl without a bashed patch? That is at least part of your problem. Also, where is the game installed to? Program Files? (or, the x86 flavor?) if so, uninstall the game, and reinstall someplace else. C:\Games\Oblivion would be good. Avoid the whole UAC thing.

Yeah, it is the x86 variety, but in D:, not C:/.

Ah well. After fiddling about with a thousand similar threads and Wrye Patches and BOSS and OBMM and whatever other silly acronyms, I think it'd be best if I reinstalled Oblivion and installed each mod individually, in the correct order, followed by a thorough testing of each.

But OBSE and OBGE and 3276 patches and tweaks and ini edits... This is going to take days.
