So........this is where all your Wisps got dragged into to. Looks nice, although I'm a bit worried all those fancy glowing things might upset my computer. :P

Honestly Ayleid_people, the logic appeared as weird to me. This is not my way of sawing your choice of packaging Vacuity, I was merely being controlled by deep forces. But as far as I would've figured it, it could still have been included in the main package as there are quite a few MMM users. It doesnt matter, and even though I understand it feels better to get a proper one from corepc I dont see adding 2 files into a zip as a big deal. Then again, I guess you did that file after the original release.

Am I good at making a small deal look big?

Anyways, Ima gonna go enjoy some excellent modding and get pwnt by some vafurlogi.

Thanks again Vacuity for all your mods; I'm using three of them.
II in my load list come from Cobl 1.72 that's why it's outdated.

No worries, it's just that the latest version of II was specifically built with/for the latest versions of MMM.
So........this is where all your Wisps got dragged into to. Looks nice, although I'm a bit worried all those fancy glowing things might upset my computer. :P

I've optimised stuff as best as I can without compromising on the quality of the experience. I have no doubt that if I was to rebuild the skeletons from scratch I could optimise them further, but the effort to the result would be quite minimal. I've also used a few tricks to try and reduce the number of particles actually being used for each creature. Some of them still use quite a few particles, but I've done my best to keep the figures reasonable. Even when I've spawned dozens of copies my system seems to struggle with the AI of them all long before the particles become an issue.

Put another way, VASE should be incorporated into MMM at some stage, so if I include an MMM plugin as a "base part of VASE" it encourages users to think they will *need* to have VASE installed and a patch installed to see these creatures. It won't work that way. It shouldn't be so long before you can uninstall VASE and only come back to the thread to check what your best bet is for combating a small god.

After installing this mod, I made
COC TestingHall
Waited 4 days then
COE -32,-2

this placed me near my initial location: The farm related to "The Sunken One" quest
then I traveled to Sandstone Caverne

I found a lot of
Ogres, Elder Ogres, Trolls, Virvatuli
fighting each others.... so I waited
At the end only one troll, one Mystic imps and one Elder Ogre were living with injures.

:brokencomputer: Do monster spawns often fight each other in FCOM, or is this aberrant behaviour? I mean, I'm glad they were spawned correctly, but if they're beating each other up *all the time* that's not so good.

Thinking about it, creatures often scrap with MMM too, so that may not be a big surprise...

Vac

P.S. Did you get to watch the virvatuli's attack system?

Since I upgraded to the last MMM version I'm finding more frequent fights between creatures although I'm using "FCOM_FriendlierFactions.esp" from the last corepc unofficial FCOM update.
Me also I don't like when I enter a cavern and find most of creatures fighting and killed.

Hey Vacuity,
I really like the new look of the wisps and I was going to suggest making a few unique types...and here you are doing just that. :) It really adds to the game (and when I'll meet one in the future) all the background info of the new "wisps". Thank you for your huge contribution. :goodjob:

No wisp yet, but yesterday I had an hilarious event, speaking of monster combat. A troll ran past me, way past me, half a minue later, 5 skeletons comes aswell, and to my surprise, does not even touch me. Moment later, I can see the troll, so I decide to kill em all off, after killing the first skeletons Im about to hack the troll, then 3 more skeletons joins the fight, 2 on the troll and one on me, and as I got rid of the skeleton on me a friggin Lesser Hill Giant comes and mauls the troll. Now thats hilarious, but when all killing in dungeons is stolen it kind of svcks.
I'll report any similar events with wisps when I see em.

Congratulations Vacuity! It's wonderful to see this released so that other hapless victims, er, I mean, players can also fully enjoy the admirable excellence of deadly beauty that you have assembled and brought to Nirn.

Thank you for the privilege of front row seating to watch your creativity blossom into the wondrous beauties that they are!

Nice! :) These are some excellent creatures.

I have finished that "glowing creatures" script, http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1054006&st=0&gopid=15318071&#entry15318071 and I can give you the script and method in the test esp, so that you can easily make your wisps glow if that so pleases you! I think they could look even more pretty with some light! :)

Hmm, that could be it. Yeah, it's not so great when all you have to do is pick off a couple of wounded stragglers.

Thanks, the background info is to add more flavour to the creatures. I've got a lot of ideas for what these things are and no easy way to get that into the game along with the wisps.

Thank you, Team VASE. Thank you for making my life complete. Please marry me.

The readme describes the terms and conditions of marriage offers quite clearly, thankyou. :stare: What the world is coming to when people don't even check the readme for info on offers of marriage to the modder, I don't know!
Well, ok, I'll admit, that it's in the "Support" section. I didn't actually make a "Marriage" section in the readme.

:lmao:

I'm wondering just how I'll run things from here. Once I have a few spare hours, and I finish icons for TheNiceOne, and some rather necessary updates for II (which in turn means getting at least one patch applied to Cobl), and I get some other bits and pieces put together (I'm considering trying to get permission from someone who has "left" the community (but on good terms) for something rather different), I'll set about trying to script the http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/MassVirvatulis3.jpg and maybe one or two other creatures to have custom lights. At the present, the virvatuli uses the generic light spell, which is fine and good and does the job, but with custom lights applied I can do, well, more interesting things, and this mod is all about doing http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/slicendice.jpg.

I'm also going to be making some custom creatures for Ilyana, and I intend those to be modders' resources, though they won't necessarily find a place in the core of VASE.

Any further feedback on the creatures? Has anyone met a higgs yet(SI-based)? They're Lilith's favourite and I have to admit I think they're probably the most beautiful (though they're not my fav).

I am going to state this, I had no hand in helping making any of these, I watched has Vacuity built them virutally and Lilith and Rest of TEAM Vase did a wonderful job on feedback and testing this stuff, It was like a classroom the developmenht thread, Vacuity, explained the process, and team came back with response's, and Vacuity adapted them, gave new test, team ran those, Adapated etc..Making them what you see. I myself have had very little chance to even play around with these beauties. So I am hoping to get the working plugin for MMM has soon has I can of course..Need to fix some vibrant weather textures first..

Congrats - TEAM VASE..Love the new name has well Spirits and Ephemerals, makes them stand out from wisp itself

thanks for the II update has well..

I am pretty sure I saw it somewhere but I couldnt find it so I'll just ask here again, where do these blobs make apperances apart from depths?

*Edit: AHA! My first Vatte-lys! Encountered in daylight an arrowshot away from the White Stallion lodge. Very funky creatures.
I saw it on reduced health so I thought "wth, got to try at least" so I winged one at it. THEN IT VANISHES! Next thing I know I have a black cloud which gives a angry vibe in my face.
I did kill it, but it turns out I could thank a Tree Sprite for the hard work ^^

Most of the Cyrodiilic forms will make appearances in marshland.
The SI forms will be found all over the place, though the Higgs and Baleful Spirit are limited to Mania and Dementia respectively.

I'm trying to track down an exceedingly persistent CTD in my setup before I can get more screenshots done...

Team VASE is pleased to bring you a special edition of our special features. For today's special edition we are taking a journey to the wierd and dangerous lands of the Shivering Isles.

Today, the third show in the series will focus on a creature known as the higgs.

The Higgs is an http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/NaturalHiggs.jpg of unusual http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/NaturalHiggs3.jpg. It has numerous characteristics that are of great interest to scholars. Found in http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsSunglare.jpg, the Higgs is http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsWater.jpg and can often be found on http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/DeadScalon.jpg of the Emean and Enjaen Seas. It can also be found occasionally in http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsRootCave.jpg and http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsRuins.jpg populated by other creatures, though fights appear quite common, and scholars suspect that higgs venture into these places to http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsVerminite.jpg, rather than to co-inhabit with them.

The Higgs has many diverse colour forms, numbering some hundreds. Such variety puts it roughly on par with creatures such as the will o'the wisp we are all familiar with in Cyrodiil. The higgs is http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsScenic4.jpg, but easily outstrips the will o'the wisp in terms of power and should not be underestimated. The higgs is also quite diverse in form when it is doing different things. At rest the higgs appears as http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsSpaceBend.jpg encased in a continually falling and renewing http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsShellDetail2.jpg of http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsShellDetail2.jpg. This central core is of the greatest interest to scholars as it appears to be exceedingly dense, and the creature itself is thought to be exceedingly heavy, weighing at least as much as a grown minotaur, despite its smaller size and diffuse appearance. We were informed of this as there was research performed on them some time ago by a (now vanished) scholar that involved colliding various creatures at high speed with the higgs and observing the effects. While the effects on the creatures involved generally involved death, there was some interesting information gained. The researcher, Petra, discovered that the higgs' core appears to give the entire creature a great deal of weight. Petra hypothesised that this weight was enough to bend the space around the core of the creature in some way, resulting in the curious distortion effect visible in the core. Unfortunately Petra dissapeared from her labolatory one day and was never seen again. Indeed, the entire village where she lived appeared to be wiped out overnight, and while no-one knows exactly what happened, it might safely be guessed that one of her "particle colliding" experiments failed disastrously.

When moving the higgs http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsMoving2-1.jpg, but the shell dissipates. Instead the creature http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsMoving-1.jpg. When hunting the creature can be seen only as http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsHunting1-1.jpg.

When attempting to subdue prey the higgs displays another and thoroughly frightening side of itself. All of its colourful beauty vanishes and the centre of the higgs bristles with http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsCombatDetail.jpg of http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsCombat5.jpg. This light appears to be the means by which the creature http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsCombat2.jpg, absorbing their life, magicka and fatigue. The higgs also causes elemental damage, both frost and http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsCombat6.jpg, though not fire. The higgs is also known to damage its foes intelligence and speed, making it particularly hazardous to mages and those who would rely on keeping a distance from it. It has a particularly dangerous habit of temporarily absorbing its targets speed, making it nigh-impossible to flee from at times.
The higgs is best fought with http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsBestCombat.jpg or http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsCombat4.jpg. It's no mean task, however, and truly the best advice would be to http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsBestFlee.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsBestFlee2.jpg from doing so. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsScary.jpg is http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsScary2.jpg in http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsCasualty2.jpg rather than escape.

Despite all this, some foolish adventurers choose to hunt higgs for profit, as the dense cloud appears to coalesce on death, and careful examination of this material can often allow the victor to recover a curious substance generally named charged matter. This is unusually heavy for its size, but is not unduly burdening in the quantities alchemists purchase.

For those hoping to learn of the higgs' weaknesses, we have to tell you that http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsScenic5.jpg is very resistant to most forms of magic, but appears least resistant to shock. It is completely resistant to mundane weapons, but is relatively easy to damage with weapons made of silver. Damage, but not kill: the higgs is possibly http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsPowerOutput.jpg present in Mania and poses a http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsMilchar.jpg to the inhabitants. Fortunately the higgs appears to have http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsDumb.jpg, primarily driven by a desire to feed rather than http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/HiggsandCrystal2.jpg.

Thankyou for reading this special edition of our program and we hope you will tune in for the next installment, next time.

No higgs appeared to suffer even the slightest discomfort or damage in the making of this program. Scary!

Team VASE brings you an extra-special bonus edition as well. For this extra-special edition we wish to talk about one of the legends of the Shivering Isles.

In the lands of Dementia there is rumour of a creature so evil and vile that it has never been named, with residents mostly refusing to talk of it occasionally referring to the baleful spirit.

This creature was generally thought to be a story or legend only, but we managed to gather some slight evidence of this http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/BalefulStorm.jpg existence. Thanks to careful use of invisibility, we were able to obtain http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/BalefulScenic.jpg and http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/BalefulOnWater.jpg of a hideous black spirit. Unfortunately, the invisibility spell did not appear to be sufficient for our researcher and the last image we recieved was http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/BalefulAndAngry.jpg. We can only advise adventurers in these lands to be exceedingly careful indeed!

You truly are an inspiration! :hugs: Thank-you for bringing the higgs into the light of verified existence... though I can't help but feel that it's natural condition is that of elusiveness... power that is perhaps best appreciated from afar. ;)

You'll probably wish it were rather *more* elusive the first time you meet it. I didn't show any pictures of what it's like in your face, but I can assure you that all that flashing light is more than a little disorienting.

There are a few notes I might add here. Like the original will o'the wisp, about the best way to combat most of these things is via melee or touch combat. That's an opinion, mind, but they are all generally very fast and many of them become significantly less visible (and so less easy to target) when they're chasing you (though I've varied this for each creature), so your best bet is to plant your feet firm and meet them head on, preferably with a good supply of potions to back you up if things don't go so smoothly. Of course, you need a weapon capable of damaging them, too...
The higgs and the baleful spirit are the two most powerful creatures in VASE; more powerful than the vafurlogi in Cyrodiil and should provide a good challenge for slightly higher-level players working their way through SI. I made a fairly determined effort in this project to add more to SI: more challenge and more character. Watching a baleful spirit systematically slaughtering everything that emerged from an active obelisk was really quite fun.

Well, I came across some of them - 3 or 4 varieties, in 6-7 colors.
Stopped to watch them. And died.
Reloaded, killed them.
But am in love with them...

Q: Why must we kill something so beautiful?
Can they be tamed? Summoned? Used as companions and pets? Within MMM, FCOM or LAME?
It seems absolutely unfair to extinguish such beauty... but otherwise they extinguish the traveler...

Any chance for summon-able sprites and ephemerals ?
Any chance for sprite companion? After all, if you can have an ugly skinned dog, why not them?
