Any chance to tame them? Summon them in near future?
I am not asking much, one spell and one companion only... :D

These are such great spiritual creatures...I can't wait until I come across one in-game.

What level are you? And whereabouts is your character wandering? If you're up in the mountains you won't find these things (except in dungeons).
Well, I came across some of them - 3 or 4 varieties, in 6-7 colors.
Stopped to watch them. And died.
Reloaded, killed them.
But am in love with them...
Me too! But I've died a *lot* more than you have, I'll bet. Hundreds of times I guess. On the other hand, most of the time I was literally just sitting watching the attack systems and animations trying to make them better. What did you meet by the way?
Q: Why must we kill something so beautiful?

Because I don't believe outer beauty has any particular relation to inner character. I am quite happy to make a series of creatures that are wonderfully beautiful, but kill everything they meet either because of instinct or pure malice. In fact the dirtiest and nastiest looking creature here (http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/Revanchism/WilloftheWisps/RainofBlood2.jpg) is the only non-aggressive creature. It will defend itself if you attack, but it shouldn't attack unprovoked.
Can they be tamed? Summoned? Used as companions and pets? Within MMM, FCOM or LAME?
Well... I'd quite like to make them summonable, but that doesn't really fall into VASE's area of concern. I try to keep my mods quite tightly defined in terms of what they do, as best as I can. It prevents all kinds of conflict-issues, for a start, and also means the user really does get what they think they get, with no hidden problems (well, hopefully). I made them with the hope and intention that they'd be included in MMM, but they are a modders' resource as well, so if you want to try and persuade bg2408 that he should add a couple to LAME then feel free. Hell, I'll go in and back you up (i.e. add an extra "please") if you want. :hugs: I think it'd be great to have marauder battlemages summoning up vatte-lys and vafurlogi.

Further than this, I *do* have some ideas for a rather irreverant quest mod that is very definitely not of the grand "save the world" kind. More a "meet interesting people and do dangerous things"-kind of quest mod. That would actually involve taming some wisps and would garner the player a wisp animal companion, and as I've learnt bucketloads about particle systems and animating them, I've got some ideas on how to make your companion as cute and adorable as possible. I must resist the pink glowing hearts though!
It seems absolutely unfair to extinguish such beauty... but otherwise they extinguish the traveler...
As I said: personal philosophy at work there. Beauty can be just as deadly (or maybe more so) as that great, dirty minotaur with the big axe and personal hygiene issues.

Yep, Core's got that bit with the beauty just right. And yes, I tracked down the CTD (hence how I managed to take all those pictures again). I'll not point fingers as the mod responsible is in alpha and not publically released. Hopefully I'll be able to run it at a later stage in development without problems. Until then, I'll just feel sad...

VASE is a modders' resource: permission is implicit as long as I'm credited for the resources used. Ahh, just checked the LAME thread, I missed those posts. I'll reply there as well. And if they get used as a combat summon you may need to harm them...

They should fit into your FCOM game reasonably well already. :)

I am level 17, and I have had to fight several of these spirits already. Difficult, because I do not have a magical weapon. However, I just slap on some damage potions, and, after awhile, I can take them out. Wicked fun!!!!!

Ahh, yes. Thanks for the reminder. It's done now!

Just one quick question. I'm looking to do a manual install of VASE onto a game already running MMM. I have SI. do I use vanilla SI in addition to vanilla cyrodiil, or replacing it? the readme didn't really specify what to do. help?

I thought it was fairly clear, particularly if you read the mini readme that came with the MMM plugin. Use the vanilla plugin for SI and the MMM plugin for Cyrodiil.

Man, hopefully I'll have time to do another description someday soon...

Well, in general news on this style of creature, I've promised to make some unique bosses for Iliana's Elsweyr mod, and I've got some *ideas* for a couple of those. And a complete blank for one. But I'm sure something horrible will be imagined once I start messing about. They're fairly high on my list of things to do.

I'm going to be sorting out a few creatures for some of Corpc's travellers as well. They're not quite so high on my list of things to do.

So keep an eye out for those mods as well.

Core, do you need any grunt work done on integrating them into the main MMM esm?

See, what a team I work with, they are always volunterring to do the grunt work, while I do all the other stuff. :bigsmile:

I will get back to you on the grunt work. lots of things to look over and see what is going to be needed, remember I had been working on MMM , while you and lilith where working on these..so I have not even seen them that much at all..

I've checked the readme and this whole thread and I have a question. It adds diversity to Will-o-wips. So If I am to encounter a will-o-wisp in my game, I'll instead find one of the 2200 forms?

Does it also adds more spawn points?

If you encounter a will o'the wisp, you'll encounter one of the 400 will o'the wisps or one of the 20 corrupted will o'the wisps. The other ~1,800 creatures are different from wisps and appear at different levels (and for half of them, only in SI).
Does it also adds more spawn points?
Every spawn point is an incompatibility, so no, there are no new spawn points. If you want more spawn points in the world I highly recommend using MMM and one of it's More Wilderness Life options. This will give you lots of opportunities to meet things while wandering through the world, and with the plugins I have provided some of these things will be creatures from VASE.

No specific plans, no. I've got some mockup meshes to make for someone we won't name (he may not need them anymore though :facepalm: ), some boss creatures for Iliana, some resources for Koniption and I'm waiting for Haama to send me a pre-release version of Cobl so I can update II (and there's a *lot* to update there). Those are my immediate plans. I should also write wiki articles on what I learned while doing VASE as there's a lot of stuff I learned by trial and error (and error, and error, and error) that isn't to be found anywhere on the internet. And then, I guess a new project. I have to pick which of my ideas I want to see come to life the most.

Edit: Almost forgot, I'm also going to update this with lighting effects and possibly new sound sets sometime soon-ish as well.

I have a question. :) With all these new additions (2,185 it seems) I am curious about how often they will appear. Or rather, are all/most wisp spawns replaced with VASE spawns and then perhaps a handfull of new spawns. I'm mostly interested in Cyrodiil, not Shivering Isles. I'll be using it with a full FCOM setup in case that makes a big difference. :)
