VATS Master Challenge

Post » Mon Dec 21, 2009 5:00 am

While it is fun to play the combat in FPS mode, it is also extremely fun to load up VATS! Not just one or two shots, but to charge right into a group and line 4 to 5 headshots against a whole group! And then watch the slow paced head shot death scenes. Nothing says kick butt then dropping a ton of baddies before either they or your own companions get off a shot.

My best round was against 3 Cazadors and 1 Young Cazadors. They charged, I charged and then queued up 4 VATS Head shots using the brush gun. One right after the other. Three seconds latter they were all dead. Latter on I dropped 3 Legion Mongrels and 2 Legion Primes with a single round of VATS. It is fun and a little risky, especially if you do not kill the first target and they go on to hit you while you are still in VATS.

So lets hear it - whats is the best single VATS round you have ever had?

All in one round? That is impressive. What gun were you using?

Action boy perk?

Yes combined with the perk that makes Vats shooting cost less. Math something.

This Machine and the Brush Gun seem to be the bests guns for whole sale butcher in VATS.

Well, the max action points would be: Max Agility 95 + Action Boy (1&2) 30 + Jet 15 + Rocket 30 + Ultrajet 40 which gives a whooping 210 action points. That is 13 shots with Lucky and Math Wrath. THAT would be extremely impressive! Wipe out a whole town with a single VATS attack. Like something out of the Matrix.

Now, here is a thought - how about taking Trigger Discipline combined with all of the VATS Perks. Grim Reapers Sprint would offset a lot of the penality. I am finding that even a moderate distances my VATS accuracy is just too low. Boosting it by 20% would go a long way.

The strange perk, the guy who pops out and guns down an enemy with his 44.

Would that be any help? for vat challenges?

Sure. The goal is to come up with the most kills in a single VATS round.

In one V.A.T.S. round I bagged six Legionaries, two Troopers and two Paladins, but firing a Mini-Nuke indoors for a laugh doesn't really count.
