Officially, the Vaults were nuclear shelters designed to protect the American population from nuclear holocaust. However, with a population of almost 400 million by 2077, the U.S. would need nearly 400,000 Vaults that were built to support an average of 1000 people, while Vault-Tec was commissioned to build only 122 such Vaults. The real reason for the existence of these Vaults was to study pre-selected segments of the population to see how they react to the stresses of isolation and how successfully they re-colonize Earth after the Vault opens.

Of the 122 Vaults, only 17 were control, meaning that only 17 were made to public expectations, all others were designed to include a social experiment, sometimes with a select few of the inhabitants observing the occupants. The facilities and supplies included complete construction equipment, hydro-agricultural farms, a water purification system, defensive weaponry to equip 10 men, communication systems and surface monitors, social and entertainment files (for total duration) as well as one or two G.E.C.K.s, intended to help the inhabitants repopulate the post-nuclear world after the All Clear signal is sent following the conclusion of the social experiment.

Our story begins in a vault like no other. Vault 110 was designed to house a hundred or so dwellers of different cultures and ideologies and, like most Vaults involved in the Vault Experiment, was an experiment in human behavior. The idea of Vault 110 was that most of the equipment was designed to break down every few months. While repairable, the breakdowns were intended to stress the inhabitants to an excessive degree, but this backfired... It appeared that no matter what the vault threw at them they overcame it together, each experience bringing them ever closer and more unified. Everytime the water purifier broke, the engineers stepped in and fixed it... When the hydroponics labs were conveniently (and repeatedly) poisoned or contaminated, the dwellers of Vault 110 recovered easily with food they had reserved for such occasion, and stockpiles of seeds and equipment they had created to battle the situation when it was to next arrive... The Vault dweller's saw these as mere technical faults and never realized it was programmed to do so... they thought it was just another day in the life of Vault 110... The social experiment foretold irreparable malfunction or social madness and predicted the Vault would not last longer than 50 years... 200 years later and for generations it has remained a thriving community of friends and family where healthy living and safety weren't an issue... The Vault-Tec's adverts and posters made real, "not just a future, a brighter future-underground". It appears their future really was bright. It was a forgotten paradise that thrived and would exceed all expectations and probably survive a further 200 years if not more. Their safety was never an issue... until now...

So what happens after the first thread and the inhabitants begint o setup shop outside the vault.

In the interest check thread you said it was free-roam, but is their an over arching story, or is it just free roam?

Well once we get out of the vault those that remain in the group will try to establish a habitable settlement as they have no way of finding any established towns nor the supplies to make the trip. After that it depends on what everyone else wants to do. Though I do have several ideas when the time comes.

I dont know if I really want to spend a whoe thread couped up in a vault. Could I jsut be someone on the outside that comes into contact with the rest of you vault kids, when you exit.

Although I might not join, even though this is really good, because Im in one RP right now adn waitng for 2 more to start whcih Ive signed up for, four may or may not be too much to handle, especially with exams coming up soon.

If you decide not to be in the vault you won't be able to introduce your character until some time in Thread 2.


But I could post a character sheet for said character who would be introduced in Thread 2?

Cause this guy was supposed to be investigating the Vault and then when you guys come out he is there and gets involved, or I could jsut be from the vault.

Speaking of RP's Hircine are you still participating in the Rags to Riches RP?

Weapons: Switchblade, hammer, Red Ryder BB Gun.

Misc: Circular tin of 200 BB's, small supply of various illicit substances he creates himself, food/water rations.

Addictions/Habits: Smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish.

Active weaknesses: Extremely short tempered. Will immediately snap at the very mention of either of his late parents.

Strengths: Fairly intelligent. He's been able to grasp the basics of chemistry (enough to make his own "product"). Skilled with blades and firearms as well.

Personality: Cunning, manipulative. Generally a huge [censored]. He does, however, know when to turn the charm on to get what he wants.

History: Wes was born to Patricia and Roland Hardin, two beacons in the vault community. His mother was one of the best cooks to grace the tin can, and was naturally stationed in the cafeteria. His father had been chosen at 16 to join the security force, and he naturally taught his boy a thing or two about fighting, as well as following the rules.

Around Wes's eighth birthday one of the vaults legendary "accidents" occured, a massive gas leak that had found it's way to the apartment area due to misaligned cylinder had killed off roughly five people. Among these were both of Wesley's parents, who'd been at home at the time. Wesley was thankfully in class at the time with the other vault children, and was oblivious to fact that he'd just lost everything.

Eleven years later the last surviving Hardin took up residence in the very place everything he loved died. The Overseer offered to relocate the boy several times over the years but Wes vehemently refused, often throwing in a healthy amount of profanity to get his point across. Staying there reminded him of what he lost... And he'd be damned if someone was gonna take that from him.

Actually you couldn't be someone near the Vault as I have plans for how we leave the vault. Also at current we have so few people joining the RP I might have to ask that you be a vault dweller. Eh unfortunately I will be dropping out as my character has been completely ignored, I don't know what's going on, and I don't feel like catching up.

Well I guess Ill sign up as a vault dweller then.

And your character was not completely ignored. I made my character try to make conversation with you, but the rest of the party moved on so I followed.

Expcet my character sheet soon, a pretty rough one anyways.

Appearance: He is a male of about average height, that being 5'11. He is clean shaven and has grey eyes. He keeps his black hair cut short in the front and lets it grow out a little longer in the back. He is more of a thin man and generally stays out of physical confrontations.

Vault Occupation: Vault Security

Clothes: Vault Jumpsuit, Armored Vault Security Suit, Balaclava, Combat Helmet, Goggles, Gas Mask

Weapons: Access to the Vault Armory, and a Switchblade

Misc: Toolkit, Blanket, Lamp, BB Gun, 50 BB's, Ciggarettes, Engraved Golden Ciggarettes Lighter passed down through the family.

Addictions/Habits: He is very fidgety and generally taps his feat or plays drums in a sense with his hands. As of now eh has not become addicted to any chems, but he cant hold his liquor.

Active weaknesses: Quick to anger and sort of a Kleptomaniac, if he sees somethign and he wants it, it just might not be yours anymore. Also not a very muscular man, physical confrontations generally dont go his way unless he uses foul play.

Strengths: An above average intelligence, and he can be very charismatic, has used it to get himself out of situations involving the Vault Security, although in his advlthood and having past the G.O.A.T recently last year this may not help him for much longer. Also gifted with the few musical instruments found throughout the Vault. He is also sort of a skilled mechanic, and has dabbled in trying to create illicit substances to sell to the younger kids.

Personality: (in RP)

History: Born into a normal Vault family, he has tried to live as normal a life as possible. In recent years though hsi short temper and the fact that he ahs stolen many things have gotten him into quite alot of trouble with Vault Security. He does harbour some anger to most of teh Vault for forcing everyone to be couped up inside.

History:The son of a Vault Security Officer, he had a strained relationship with his father. His father does not approve of his career, and wanted him to become an officer like most of the males in the family have been.

Active weaknesses: Antony is very protective of his family, even to the point of completely disregarding the other Vault members

Strengths: His vast knowledge, logical prowess, and charisma.

Personality: Antony, alone, is the perfect businessman, as that trait ran through his family for over a thousand years. He's very friendly and polite on the outside but on the inside, he's ruthless to the end to get what he wants. Highly intelligent and rarely shows his true emotion near strangers.

History: Antony was born to Adrian Sakin and Katherine Sakin, two of the most important people in the Vault, both of them being doctors. Obviously, they had the entire community under their thumb. Due to that, when Antony was born, he was given the best education until he was old enough to go to the school in the Vault. Even when he went to school, Antony was told to disregard everything that wasn't science, maths, literature, or history. For stuff like the values of helping were completely tossed out and instead replaced with medicine, business, and importance of family.

Because of direct training by his parents, Antony obviously went to the medical track after the GOAT results came back. He was given position of the doctors assistant. But after the tragic gas leak incident, both Adrian and Katherine were killed when Antony was 19 years old. At that time, many people were already busy comforting the loved ones of others who died in the gas leak, only Sonia Kim was there for him the whole way.

Later on, Antony married Sonia two years after the gas leak and had an 8 year old son, Nick, and 6 year old daughter, Kirren, by age 30.

History: The Jacobs family has had a natural flair for engineering and has always inherited the job as chief engineer in the Vault. Due to the malfunctions in Vault 110 Gordon has taken it upon himself to immediately help and attend to any foreseeable issues that he can, and over time has become a valued member of Vault 110. Tries to live up to his father who put an end to the seemingly regular water purifier breakage by teaming up with the science lab to produce a newer, more efficient, cleaner purifier. Has a fiance named Lana Skye who he's very protective of. While he works he's usually accompanied by a Mister Handy he named Henry.

History: Matthew's mother died during childbirth and his father was distant. This warped young Matthew into the heartless antisocial advlt he is now. Even worse the G.O.A.T. said that his best job match would be in vault security. Since his appointment he has used his authority to serve his own ends.

Strengths: Atheletic and cunning. A good memory.
Personality: Merciful, hospitiable and kind. He seldom thinks twice when doings things for praise. Easy going. A bit of a trouble maker, he hates being treated as a child. Sometimes lets his violence control him, when very angry. Smart-mouthed.
History: His father died of an eye cancer that moved to the brain, leaving his mother to care for him. From his father's death, his mother became more of a woman. She was very protective and taught him to show kindness. Her acts towards him shaped him into a merciful man. His friends influence him to be a trouble maker. He is an only child.
