Vault 114: The Olympians' Vault

All forms of publicity favoring the vault program of the United States, now holding widespread popularity, have been seen throughout the country recently. Around here, in New York and sometimes even in neighboring states, there has been particular spotlight on this “special offer” for Vault 114. They say they're “rewarding the best of us to preserve the best of us,” or something like that. They'll take almost anyone, so long as they meet their standards in a few harmless tests-and any that pass get up to 20% off on the price of admission. Those within the top ten get 65% off, and those within the top five get in absolutely free.

There have been complaints about the ridiculously large number of tests you have to take, but it's completely worth it when thinking of the promise to be in the population's “Olympians'” vault. Even more so when thinking of the guarantee to be safe from any possible nuclear apocalypse.

---
-Current Conflict: It starts where all participants in the Vault 114 experiment (currently in nearby parts of New York) rush to enter the shelter just before the Great War makes an impact at home. Obviously, all will have to adapt to the unusual conditions of a vault, both those advertised and not. For the citizens, they will have to decide how to handle their new conflicts in life (leaving open all kinds of possible actions, whether positive or negative). For the scientists and overseer, they will have to decide how to rank the perfection of a human being, how to handle the population to ensure they produce better offspring themselves, and how to enforce the rules and manage the project in general. The conflict is rather general, as my RP ideas tend to be-in attempts to keep it open to multiple conflicts/plots (a few of which I intend to cause myself).

-Concepts about Vault 114:

-Vault's Capacity: 2000
-Unique Features of the Vault:
*There is almost no residential room made to the typical size of other vaults, either being smaller or bigger(each room varying), the most extreme even lacking furniture, functions, etc. and the opposite type inversely has even excessively luxurious objects, functions, etc.

*There are three "classes" within the vault, Upper, Middle and Lower, each with various levels of opulence or destitution.

*Status and well-being in the vault solely depends on one's abilities and how much, as a whole, they are considered to surpass or fall behind the rest of the population. This is ranked, and this list is publicly known.

*There is about fifteen scientists included in the vault population to discretely aid in the experiment, all significantly knowledgeable in things such as genetics, human anatomy, etc. Genetics especially. These scientists act as a “council” under the overseer and have notable political power and privileges in the vault. These scientists did not have to meet the other vault members' requirements, as they are doing their job-though this job isn't publicly known outside of the council and overseer.

*The five vault members ranking in the top five in excellence of all things as a whole (the score of everything about their abilities, looks, health, etc. was averaged) are to be granted free admission to the vault.
*The five members below the first set are to be required a payment 65% less than the average vault member (when it comes to all vaults, not just Vault 114).

*All those who admitted had to be at least slightly superior to the average human being, and were required to pay at a somewhat reduced amount (about 10-20% or so) to the average vault dweller.

*Would be roughly twice the size of an average vault to hold more residents, in the case that a nuclear war actually ever occurred-in which case resupplying members would be impossible for a long period of time-and in general to offer a larger gene pool.

*Would have an “advanced” (in the Fallout world) computer(s?) to help contain the vast amount of data of both the overseer's and scientists' logs, as well as the ranked list of the vault's population. (Note: The ranking right now would be numbered from 1-1,185, with the first overseer being among the scientists hired).

-Rules (very prone to change):
1. A paragraph (five sentence) minimum per post. I say this because, in my experience, it is a paragraph that's typically needed to make something interesting and significant. Of course, pointlessly rambling doesn't do any good, but horridly brief posts with just as pointless of actions don't either.

2. In the biography, you can feel pretty free to write whatever kind of character (that's possible) that you want. If there's a problem, I'll point it out. Note that just because these characters are supposed to be the “Olympians” of the world doesn't mean they don't have flaws-and they can be severe flaws (remember that the score is averaged). And when it comes to one's history, they don't care much. So long as the person in question isn't a known murderer and such.

3. In the roleplay, do not assume you can do anything big that's not already obviously possible for your character without my permission. For example, a man who's already in charge of the army can declare war (though it has to make sense, no one declares war randomly-there has to be some sort of reason behind it all, and it has to be logical for his followers to actually follow). But announcing that some big faction exists, or anything of that sort, shouldn't just be done without checking with me via private messages or OOC chat within the roleplay thread. I (think I) am pretty lenient on this sort of thing-if you know your character has the ability to do something already (and it would make sense that they would do it), you are free to go ahead and do it.
-There are exceptions to this, the exceptions almost always (if not entirely) applying to the case that it effects another important character and/or character owned by someone else. Or in the case that someone/something is being damaged. For the former issue, there has to be consent from the me or the player(depending on whether or not the character is owned). For the latter, it would have to be plausible, and not over the top (this actually applies to anything in RP, really).

4. Use proper grammar, spelling, etc.

5. Follow the general roleplay and forum rules, which includes being respectful to fellow players.

Gender:
Age: (Anything Within a Human's Lifespan)
Skills, Talents: (Can be Both Skills from Fallout and Other. Ex: Architecture and Speech. Keep in mind, however, that the scientists looked for good, basic abilities. Such as how high one's IQ was, how pretty they looked, how good their immune system was, how strong they were, how talented they were (this would have to be notable though, being better than average wouldn't be of much interest to them), and so forth. So mention their skills in the basic things too (if you need help, look at S.P.E.C.I.A.L.))

-Cast of Characters.

Thekettleison/Agrona: Amelia Hart Appler - Overseer
Spoiler
Name: Amelia Hart Appler

Gender: Female

Age: 30

Skills, Talents: She has a very high IQ(though not reaching the level of a genius), and is skilled in the fields of science and medicine-having a particular interest in genetics. However, she is significantly uglier than the average human being and somewhat socially awkward-and to compound with that, has skills even poorer than the average person in anything outside of her talents.

Ranking: N/A

Position: Overseer, Scientist

Appearance: Ms. Appler has held the position of "uglier than the ugly best friend" but "prettier than a woman mutilated by fire and prolonged exposure to radiation," which might help you better comprehend her "status" in the looks department. If ranked from one to ten, Amelia would likely be ranked from a two to a very low three. Her blue eyes are large, and bulge slightly from her head-as if pressing to pop out entirely-and ironically enough, most only find the color of those eyes appealing about her looks. A very deep, shiny blue that, if looking alone, is actually rather calming. As if to make matters worse, darkly brown eyebrows(just a bit too thick to be as feminine as one would like) are set heavily on those eyes, close to them and sliding downward slightly on the outer edges to make a somber look no matter how genuinely happy Amelia might be. As for the thirty year old's mouth-the lips are of average size, but not anywhere close to full and far from anything considered "sixy." In all actuality her face, as a whole, seems as if it never fully grew to advlthood when it comes to spacing, her features a little too close together to be normal-and causing Appler to own a sizable forehead. Due to her jaw shape, the geneticist's face is unpleasantly rounded-making her face too broad, and seeming almost fat no matter how thin the woman becomes. Due to slight health troubles, she often has wrinkled eyes and a tired look about her, with a few acne scars scattered randomly about her face and a look that makes her seem about three to five years older than her true age.
Her body is not ugly, but not appealing. The woman is flat as a stick, and if she put on enough clothing and covered her face, could easily be mistaken for a man. Which, based on her experience of being a woman and the more traditional standards attached to it, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Personality: Amelia Hart Appler is not a cruel, sadistic monster, not an obnoxious, arrogant elitist, or a golden-hearted angel who's so gorgeous on the inside that her crude looks outwardly are compensated for. Most would describe her as either cynical, realistic, or cynically realistic-often relying on pure observation and facts to determine her opinions. This can, at times, make the woman even appear robotic-sometimes paying more attention to a person's actions rather than the person him or herself. Most, who bother to wonder why, gather that she likely picked up this behavior from her rather antisocial childhood-if they know of aforementioned childhood. Often her reactions seem oddly passive and, occasionally, even apathetic-and yet plainly calculating and pondering.

However, this isn't to suggest that Ms. Appler is without emotion. For one thing, she ensures all call her Ms. Appler. Not simply because she is Overseer, and not simply because Ms. Appler tends to be formal, but because she honestly despises her first and middle name-finding it too feminine, especially when it comes to her experiences of how "feminine" she's considered by others. She finds it unfitting, awkward, and even rude and emotionally scathing. Furthermore, beneath the numerous, thick layers of near indifference and calm, there's a strong, burning flare of ambition in her-and feminism. Sprouting from her inability and growing absence of desire to follow traditional female roles. This feminism and observant attitude has led her to, in general, find social standards and the like to be utter bull-and she often disregards it completely. Should someone bother her with it enough, they might even manage to pry out of her some burning, hateful fury and resent.

While this purposeful neglect to recognize such standards means she does some unusual things or views in usual ways, and obviously improper ones, it also means she typically treats most vault dwellers with respect-no matter their ranking. Despite the fact that part of her job is to encourage that sort of view to make the vault experiment successful. While she's socially awkward, and really odd in general, she'll at least give you a pleasant hello and the like.

History: Excluding her surname, the scientist's name is a thinly veiled reference and dedication to the famous Amelia Earhart. Though the scientist has never fancied it, despite her respect for the pilot- finding it instead more like a poorly and desperately made attempt to make the woman at least sound prettier. As if, should it ever work, it actually compensated for the apparently hideous face and body the lady owned. Apparently the very symbol of inadequacy, without treading into the zones of grotesque freaks that belong to the circus.

Originally, with insistence from her parents, Amelia put all the effort in her childhood into looking as pleasant as possible-despite her natural disadvantages-she wore make up from a young age, wore the latest fashions, tried to fit in as much as possible in the matter of appearance. After all, the more traditional of views suggested a women needed to find a man to love and care for, to raise a family with-and to that you had to be pretty. Yet her attempts were almost completely fruitless-often children, sometimes even her "friends," at her school would mock her. The most common of "nicknames" being "Bug Eyes" or "Chubby-kins." This led to a temporary attempt at near starvation of Appler's part, though she quickly gave up when the nickname didn't drop.

It grew worse when sixual attraction became far more possible, and a severe case of acne (to most, unsurprisingly) plagued Amelia Hart. It was this, the sudden new-found love of science(especially in the fields of genetics, as she began to question what caused so-and-so to be like this, and so-and-so to be like that), and other observations that made the teenager finally give up even bothering. Yes, her dark hair continued to be styled in the popular fashion, but even her clothing tended to go against typical trends-no longer did she bother trying to be pretty. Power-success of a different sort, and knowledge was all she hungered for. Did she envy, and does she envy, other, prettier women from time to time? No one has been able to be certain-though there's certainly hints suggesting the answer might just be a "yes." Yet it seems, after a decade or so of this change, Amelia isn't about to try to stay in the race with the knock-outs anymore. Or even entertain the idea of romance of any sort.

Since those days, Appler has been successful in her new path in life. A rather notable and seen as a very level-headed scientist, she was put as the "leader" of the scientists and thus naturally Overseer. Having joined Vault Tec when they offered a promising promotion to her career three years prior. The woman remains single and still referred to as "Ms. Appler" by all who know her. Many aren't even aware of any other title that she's ever been called.

It ought to be noted, however, that Appler has a suspicion that her placement as Overseer was not simply for her abilities in her field-but also because of her obvious flaw in her looks and other things. Which could, eventually, very well cause an uproar in the social atmosphere of the vault. To say the least, Amelia doesn't like the possibility of what her peers might be using her for.

Thekettleison: Aaron MacBlain - Rank 787
Spoiler

Name: Aaron MacBlain

Gender: Male

Age: 30

Skills, Talents: Aaron is a veteran of interviews and press conferences and is good at talking to large crowds of people. He is charming and charismatic. Physically he is quite strong and in almost peak physical health.

Ranking: 787

Position: Vault dweller. (Vault security)

Appearance: 5 foot 9 tall. Lean but well-built physique. Short blonde hair and a short, neatly trimmed beard. His nose sits at a crooked angle due to it being broken several times.

Personality: Aaron is quite cheeky but he can appear arrogant at times. He is proud of his achievements before the war and likes to brag about them when an opportunity arises. While Aaron isn't a bully, he is extremely confidant in his fighting abilities and will sometimes jokingly insult people "For a laugh", Knowing that if they take it the wrong way, he can most likely beat them in a fistfight.

History: Born and raised in Leicester, England. Aaron was seven years old the first time his granddad handed him a pair of boxing gloves. After an hour of playfully sparing with the old man Aaron knew what he wanted to do with his life. After much pleading the child convinced his grandfather to let him train in the old man's gym.

At age seventeen Aaron took the bronze medal for boxing at the Olympic Games. Disappointed with this Aaron spent almost every waking moment for the next four years training. When he competed at the games for the second time MacBlain won the gold.

When he returned to the UK Aaron discovered he had become a media sensation. His face was on all the newspapers and all the TV chat show hosts wanted to talk to him. The public loved his cheeky banter and his attitude to his training. Soon after the calls from the chat shows came several calls from sponsors offering to help him turn pro.

By age twenty five Aaron had won the world middleweight boxing championship. He fought several title defenses and moved to the US, conveniently escaping conscription before the resource wars.

Aged 30 he is now a four time, former champion. He is still a darling of the media, although he has come to expect it, rather than appreciate it.

His place in the vault was granted simply because of his physical attributes. While not stupid Aaron is in no way remarkably bright either. Recently he has been all over the TV in and around New York as he was one of the celebrities hired to advertise Vault 114.

Agrona: Grace Kally – Rank 933
Spoiler

Name: Grace Kally

Gender: Female

Age: 28

Skills; Talents: Grace is a very perceptive person, couple that with her movie star looks; it was never a question that she would receive a place in the vault. Her father, good riddance, always told her that her real talents lay in the way she could talk her way in and out of any situation.

Ranking: 933

Position: Cafeteria - Server

Appearance:
Grace’s last name was just one letter off from the famous movie star’s, yet, her beauty surpassed that of Kelly’s. It was a timeless, warm, soft beauty, which served her well so far. It had opened doors for her that otherwise would have been shut.

Her hair fell in cascades of soft, shiny dark blond waves passed her shoulders. It framed her lovely face, in which her blue eyes were set like precious sapphires. A short, well-proportioned nose, above cherry red lips, rounded out her lovely features.

Long legs, a slender waste and a full bosom completed her appearance; her only asset in this world - one that ensured her a place in Vault 144.

Personality:
Grace knows she is beautiful and she had learned early on that if you want to get ahead, you use what you have to your advantage. Couple her looks with a lively and outgoing personality and you create an irresistible personality. It’s almost 2nd nature to Grace now, to play up her assets, while hiding her lack of real skill or talent.

However, she wasn’t malicious and the superficial act she liked to play got on her nerves at times. Often, she simply acted out of desperation, and more than often she wondered if she truly deserved to be here. She yearned for a friend, but was afraid to let anyone get too close.

History:
Life in California before the Vault was anything but a cake walk.

Her mother passed away, when Grace was two, so her father, who had always been a scoundrel and a drunk, moved her from town to town. Grace never knew a steady education or home. What she learned, she picked up on the streets or half way houses and shelters. Nobody really cared that some drunk and his little girl lived on the streets. The country was in a war fever and people slipped through the cracks all the time.

Once Grace grew older, her dad noticed how beautiful she was and so began to exploit that fact. Grace would sit at a busy street corner and beg for a hot meal. The money she made went do her dad, who promptly drank or gambled it away. Grace learned early on, to hold back a small amount, so she could eat, when her dad was in a drunken stupor.

One day, Grace was around 16, her dad didn’t return to get the money she had collected. To this day, she had no idea what had happened to him, and she never really cared. She had made plans and set aside enough money, to sneak off anyways.

Without anywhere to go, Grace walked down Hollywood boulevard, watching tourists go bonkers over the names of movie stars cemented into the street. She paused before Grauman’s Chinese Theater. It was still early in the morning and only a few tourists blocked the hand and foot prints of Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. Grace walked solemnly among the stars of the past, thinking about her own life. It was tough to picture all that glamour, when all you had to sleep in was a cardboard box in some alley behind the theater.

It was her lucky day though. A big shot producer saw her beauty and compared her to Grace Kelly. He set her up in a posh apartment, got her some smaller roles. She had no talent for acting, but she looked really pretty in front of the camera. The few movies she made flopped big time, but her commercials for Sugar Bombs took off and the company actually recorded a profit increase after that. The producer and the owner of Sugar Bombs recommended her to the Vault program.

The tests revealed sup-par intelligence, and even so her beauty spoke for itself, she had to pay full price (Sugar Bombs took care of that bill). She was also told that she would not be treated like a celebrity, but that her place would be in the lower quarters. Grace accepted the conditions, happy to have ensured her survival.

She was strong, she was sweet, and she was after all, beautiful. The Gene pool could only profit from her addition.

Cineres: Tommy Cray – Rank 20
Spoiler

ame: Tommy Cray

Nickname: Taz

Gender: Male

Height: 5'10

Weight: 170lb

Age: 17

Appearance: Tommy has a stocky but athletic build with slightly more muscle mass than the average teenager. His body isn't really down to great genetics though; the place he resided in before the vault pretty much only gave two things one could do to better themselves. Exercise or study, Tommy chose to balance the two for the sake of boredom. He has rosy coloured skin, pretty much smack bang in the middle of pale and tanned. He looks older than he really is too; intelligent hazel eyes and a tired looking face make him look at least twenty.

Skills: Tommy has astonishingly high cognitive abilities. This incredible natural talent gives him multiple amazing skills, such as an almost inhuman memory and a perception far greater than any normal person. He notices things normal people usually wouldn't and rarely misses anything his subconscious finds significant. He also learns things that require attention to detail amazingly quickly and can become great at these things far quicker than is natural. His IQ according to the Vault entrance examinations is 180.

Ranking: 20

Position: Tommy is a Vault Dweller; he acts as a teachers assistant in the vault but spends a lot of his spare time also helping other vault staff, usually with his powerful and extremely adaptable mind.

Personality: Tommy actively tries his best to make others believe he's not as intelligent as he actually is; that is when he's not actively trying to figure out something or help someone. In those situations he cannot hide how bright he is. He will mess around and joke often, knowing his intelligence can easily intimidate people or make them despise him. He is usually an extremely enthusiastic person, never believing there isn't a better option and always thinking he can figure something out one way or another, even if it is sometimes utterly impossible. He tries to be at least civil to everyone, but gets irritated when people act like their better than others, especially when their not all that smart or attractive themselves.

History: Tommy was raised in Hackney, a part of London that would probably be healthier for the residents if the government just turned into a garbage dump officially instead of the place just being used as one by its own residents unofficially. The place is definitely not where the bigoted would expect someone as intelligent as Tommy to arise from. This is a place where a local half joke is; “Why does the Regents Canol run through Hackney? So it doesn't get shot.”

Tommy grew up in this place, being raised by a single mother whose biggest concern about her son was the arrival of his eighteenth birthday; when the welfare checks for him would stop rolling in. She didn't much care for him, and he didn't much care for her. She never did notice just how quickly he seemed to learn or how he noticed everything she did however subtle it was. It didn't take long for this lack of affection to affect the young lad. Tommy stopped going to school and fell in with a bad crowd, which to be honest is kind of inevitable for a bored teenager on a council estate. Luckily Tommy was smart enough not to let any of the gang youths intimidate him into doing anything too stupid.

That didn't stop him using his own freewill to do said stupid things himself though. He learned how to pick locks after reading about a protagonist in a comic doing so and picking up an interest in it. Soon he began to break into and burgle numerous flats and houses around Hackney as a means of money and munch his home and mum lacked. After a while he also started taking the vehicles in which belonged to the owners of the places he broke into whenever he found the keys around laying around. This didn't last too long however. At the age of fifteen the police finally spotted him behind the wheel of a car that had been reported stolen quicker than expected and not wanting to get caught with a stolen TV in the back of the car and around two hundred quids worth of nicked jewellery in his pocket he quickly fled from them.

When the police caught him they eventually linked him to over twenty burglaries in the area and around a dozen car thefts. He was sentenced to three years in a young offenders institute. So ended the young geniuse’s freedom. At least until two years later when a bloke with an American accent visited him in the teenage prison. Apparently it was about one of the numerous quizzes Tommy frequently filled out and sent away in a certain English newspaper. He enjoyed often seeing his name as the top scorer of the the quizzes in the next paper. It was the only thing he did for fun in the prison really, and it wasn't as if he would get a reply if he sent his mum a letter. After getting first place in the quizzes over three dozen times in the year Tommy had already spent in the prison this strangle American bloke had apparently tracked the mysterious Taz to a youth offenders and was slightly amazed that a sixteen year old had bested the rest of England in the quizzes so many times.

He made Tommy take numerous examinations. A math exam. An English exam. And then an IQ test. Apparently his results were phenomenal in all of them, and after a few more tests he was offered a place in some sort of flash American bunker. Tommy didn't fully know what it was but he knew it would be a lot better than spending another two years in the pit he was in. He accepted and was picked up and taken out of the institute a week later, staying at an American government safe house until the time he entered the vault.

Fisheye98: Alex Lincoln Key – Rank 151
Spoiler

Name: Alex Lincoln Key

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Skills, Talents: Alex's main skill is his nearly legendary proficiency with the acoustic violin. Some say that he is the best of his generation. The young man also has experience with public speaking and the press. Alex is intelligent enough, but isn't a genius by any stretch of the mind. He keeps his body in good shape, though mostly for looks, and hasn't ever been into anything besides running. The only skill that could be useful in the Vault is his skill with sound equipment and the like.

Ranking: 151

Position: Manages and repairs the Vault's intercom system (no announcements) and runs a radio station.

Appearance: Alex stands at around five feet and eleven inches. The musician has a slim, lanky body build. He is lightly muscled from gym workouts, though just for looks. He has "pianist's hands" (long and skinny) that are constantly fiddling with various things, longing for their violin. Alex's body is devoid of any scars or tattoos and his body image a golden tan (though not for long). The musician's hair is a rich, dark gold color and falls to his jaw line. His face is absent of facial hair, displaying his sharp jaw. High cheekbones, perfect symmetry, and an overall "aristocratic" look give Alex a rather attractive face, one reason for his fame. To add to this, Alex has a pair of widespread, large, almond-shaped eyes that are the same color as his hair, dark gold. Pair this with his stares that have been described as predatory and the natural grace in his movement and it gives him a rather lion-like appearance and air. The man has a sing-song voice with a soft southern accent.

Personality: Alex has two layers that make up his personality, his press personality, one programmed into him by his publicity advisor, and his actual personality. The two share elements, of course, but his press personality is more focussed and honed to attract followers, particularly young women. The outer Alex is a confident, slightly arrogant, unwaveringly brave, yet still a sensitive person. He often speaks about how he is looking for true love and has a hole in his heart that only the perfect person can fill. The facade, however, is mostly false. At heart Alex is actually an easily hurt person who experiences vivid emotions and is prone to bouts of depression. He has a sense of humor and it's pretty difficult to make him your enemy.

History: Alex was born to a moderately wealthy family, the Keys, in a small town in South Carolina. The boy's parents owned a large amount of sharecropper farmland in the area and from an early age Alex walked the fields and worked with his hands. Here the boy also learned manners and how to be a proper gentleman, something that would prove surprisingly important later in his life. Young Alex was a good enough student, getting slightly above average grades, and was entranced by fiction books, poetry, and most of all, music.

His parents were kind people and gave him plenty of love and attention, his life was a good and normal one. However his life would soon take a dramatic turn. One day the boy, now in high school, returned home to his parents asking if he could join orchestra. The price was steep but his parents decided that it couldn't hurt. So the next day Alex showed up at school with a brand new violin, ready to play. It soon became evident that the boy had a natural talent for the violin. He learned quickly and devoted all time to his practice, it was second nature to him. Before long he out played all of his peers, and soon after that, his teacher.

His parents hired a private violin teacher for him, seeing the likely path for his career. His grades slowly lowered as the violin became the focus of his life, taking up all of his time. He graduated from High School with no intention of intending college, preferring to practice on his own. Before long a small group called the Heart Strings picked the teen up and Alex took on a few odd jobs to keep himself afloat. The band was good, very good, but Alex didn't like the idea of just being one in the group of 9. So the man dropped out at the age of 23, playing a few solo gigs for a while and living in a bare apartment.

Then, after one particular performance, Alex met Liam Locke, a British singer and pianist who was in a situation just like Alex's. The two became fast friends and before long decided to try to make music together. The duet formed "Locke and Key", a band (if the pair could be called that) that did a very interesting mix of folk music and classical. Their first song, Melancholy Heart, ran through the USA and UK like a wildfire. Liam proved to be a good, rich signer and their lyrics struck at the heart but most notable was Alex's near-arcane skill with the violin. After a few interviews and many caffeine-fueled nights of songwriting "Locke and Key" came out with their first album, Echoing Eyes, which secured their place in stardom.

Many interviews and songs later the pair was becoming very popular, particularly in the American South, East, and Midwest. Both men had their own following and Alex was trained in the art of popularity and interview-navigation. Three years later the two remained the dominating force in their genre of music, both with a substantial amount of wealth. Then Liam and Alex was offered a place in a new Vault, Liam, however, denied, refusing to be stuck in a hole in the ground, even if the world was going to hell in a hand basket. Alex was devastated but accepted anyway.

AARON MacBLAIN - October 19th 2077

"Here you go kid." Aaron beamed at the young boy as he handed back the autograph book. The child immediately opened the book up and gasped in delight as he read the message within. "To my good friend Bobby, best wishes, Aaron "the machine" MacBlain. Oh gee, thanks mister." Aaron chuckled as he reached down and ruffled the kid's hair. "That's okay son, you...er... You make sure you stay in school."

The kid flashed a smile that was missing several teeth "I will sir, good luck when you fight Anderson." the boy replied and scampered off to join a couple, probably his parents, as they walked into a department store.

Aaron liked kids and still always made time to talk with them. Maybe that's what I'll do when I retire, Aaron thought to himself, open a gym and train some young'uns up, like Grandad did for me. As usual Aaron smiled as he thought of the old man. Bert MacBlain had been in the ground for over a decade now, but without him the world would never have heard of Aaron. Now, because of his grandfather, it seemed that everybody had heard of him. He had had a great life because of Bert, olympic bronze, olympic gold, world titles, women, four wives and three inevitable divorces.

He regarded the divorces as positive points in his life too, when questioned about any particular wife by the media he always jokingly replied "'Tis better to have loved and lost, than to have spent the rest of my life with that money grabbing cow." But always with a laugh and a cheeky smile to the camera.

That was one thing his grandfather hadn't taught him. Doris, his PA had taught him how to deal with the media and Aaron was grateful for it. Although it did still surprise him just how easily a cheeky comment and a grin could make awkward questions go away. Doris was a genius in Aaron's eyes, she understood him and thanks to her his life had been much more pleasant than it could have been. He supposed that was why she had become wife number four.

Aaron walked back towards his appartment, passing a news stand as he went. Several pictures of him stared back. Most were wearing the gaudy blue and yellow suits that Vault-tec had gotten him to put on for the stupid adverts. Although a couple showed pictures of Aaron in the ring with "Bomber" Harris and bore the headline NEW EVIDENCE COMES TO LIGHT IN MATCH FIXING SCANDAL. Damn, the sooner that story gets put to bed, the better. Aaron thought as he walked past.

When he arrived at his house Aaron walked into his front room and flipped on the television. His own face appeared on the screen in front of him. Again he was wearing that stupid vault suit, the comercial was near it's end and simply showed Aaron pointing at the screen. "Be smart. Be safe. Grow old with Vault-tec." The face on the screen broke into it's trademark grin then the screen went dark, quickly replaced by an advert for that disgusting pre-pakaged [censored] Blamco Mac stuff. Aaron flipped the tv off and walked into his gym.

About thirty minutes later Doris walked into the large training room. Aaron was on his weight bench and only became aware of her presence when her face appeared, upside down, above him. As the weights were lowered back to Aaron's chest, Doris leaned forward, descending at the same speed as the weights, to plant a quick kiss on his lips. "Didn't you already have a session in here before you went out?" She asked him with a slight frown.

"Yeah," he replied with a slight smile "But you know about the famous MacBlain stamina darlin'." She chuckled a little at the response. "Hmmm, that I do." She produced an envelope and dropped it on to Aaron's chest, "This came for you while you were out, looks important."

Aaron replaced the barball and picked up the envelope, holding it in front of his face, it was from Vault-tec, he could tell that much by the large logo printed on the front. "Probably want me to do another bloody advert." Aaron said as he tore the envelope open and pulled out the piece of paper within.

We have taken the liberty of already accepting your place within the vault on your behalf, as refusal would cast a poor light on the advertising. Senior Director of Vault Tec NY Branch
307 Lexington Ave Suite 540

Aaron screwed the letter up and tossed it into a bin. "Typical bloody vault-tec," he said to Doris. "They've accepted me into the vault, but there is no mention of you. Typical, remember the guy who doesn't even want the bloody spot. But ignore his wife, who actually believes the stupid things are needed and believes that anyone is bonkers enough to bloody well launch their nukes in the first place. I've got an address here, I'll go and see them love." He said getting off of his weightbench and reaching for a towel.

"When?" Doris replied.

"Right now if you like."

"Sorry, I can't allow that hon," she smiled, "You've got your title shot against Bobby Anderson in a few days, we can't have you getting distracted before that. I assume they want to see you soon anyway?"

"Yeah, the twenty second."

"Well that solves it then. The fight is on the twenty first. You can go sort this after you beat "Goodnight" and get your title back. Now," she took hold of his hand and began leading him towards the bedroom, "how about you show me a little more of that famous MacBlain stamina?"
