Vault 17, or 117 in concept art?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 4:31 am

Reviewing the E3 videos, I came across this:

http://i.imgur.com/1KG6Iy7.jpg

The back of the jumpsuit reads "17", but, it could also be "117" with the first 1 obscured by angle.

Vault 17, according lore, and low number, would be on the West Coast, and was supposedly raided, emptied, and all the inhabitants got dipped and turned into super mutants.

In those respects, I don't think it's a Vault 17 jumpsuit.

117 would fit for the East coast.

This is, of course, concept art, so, the number could be entirely meaningless.

The one is dead middle of the back, which says to me 117, as there is room for the extra one, and the numbers on vault suits are always dead nuts centered on the back.

I wouldn't read too much into this.

117 matches the numbering system we've seen used for the East Coast vaults so far. At least, more than 17.

If it's Vault 117, I found this: http://falloutsandbox.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_117

There isn't supposed to be a Vault 117. 112 is the last.

What is the info from, seems like fan fiction rather than anything offical.

Edit: okay, yeah fan fiction.

There is also a fallout 3 mod for Vault 117.

According to this:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault

There were 122 vaults built?

That's just fanon.

The Bible said that there was 122 I think? Either way, since Bethseda has the IP then can have as many as they want now.

That's only what we've seen in-game. Vault-tec built a total of 122 that we know of.

On http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault it mentions "Of the 122 known public vaults, only 17 were control [vaults]".

Agreed, the number of Vaults is entirely up to Bethesda at this point, I doubt they will feel that bound by what is in the Fallout Bibles.

Indeed, nor should they be. A lot of what was in the Bible's wasn't that good IMO.

Vault 112 was the last Vault to be completed... Not the last Vault by number.

That are known.

Who's to say there weren't another bunch of vaults that were never documented or mentioned because their experiments were just that damn morbid or dangerous?

Wiki is calling it 17, you can see his entire back shoulder to shoulder, looks like 17. Any thoughts if it is 17? How the hell would a vault suite get from California? Caravan? Came with the Enclave?

People move and trade. Having a couple rogue vault suits show up from other regions would actually be reasonable and quite a cool little inclusion

Well I hope there is a back story behind it, not just buy it off a trader. There seems to be at least one other vault according to the game footage at E3.

I also saw 77 when I looked at the picture, but it's hard to tell.

I think it could be 77. Ther Vault 111 jumpsuit doesn't have the little slash on the top of the '1', although the Vault 101 jumpsuits did.

Okay, that observation is interesting. For one, we have the vault door itself : http://i.imgur.com/5fqiY1d.jpg

... and then, we have the 111 jumpsuit, which is indeed different : http://media.gamersnexus.net/images/media/2015/news/fo4-dog.jpg

... and, as you mentioned, Vault 101 had the top, as did every other vault number and vault jumpsuit with the number 1 in it.

What's so special about 111 that it gets a different font jumpsuit?

We only see this with 111, but, this could either be the new FO4 way of things, or, 111 is unique, and as with all the other vaults with a 1 that remain consistent, the concept art sticks to that and remains consistent.

Well, while the picture still looks like it says 77 to me, that's highly unlikely given the nature of that particular vault. :)

So I'm going to go with 17.

Been comparing different vault jumpsuits. On the back of 101 and 112 the "1" is written European style with the the slash at the top. Vault 111 doesnt have the European style or slash at the top. Who knows, still looks like 17 to me. Maybe you get it off one of the Super Mutants. That would mean some of the SM could have been from the Midwest.
