Vault 150: The Gladiators of Olympus

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:57 am

The Pitch

In the beginning . . .

In the beginning, all was well. In the beginning, there was no fighting. In the beginning, there was peace.

But one thing about peace . . . sooner or later it always leaves.

On October 23, 2077, the doors of Vault 150 closed, housing a pool of 150 people. They were given food, resources, supplies, and an Overseer who gave them structure according the the pre-determined regimen. They were all given a safe haven to live, and a person to call leader, but little did they know, the Vault would be known as the most brutal Vault the world had ever seen.

This is the never-ending story of the battles that have held true in Vault 150 for the past 100 years.

Overview

So allegedly, this is about a Vault that had been transformed into a colosseum of sorts. It was split into 9 sectors, each named after the Greek, not Roman (still up in the air on which to choose), gods and goddesses. Each section had their own use and purpose, but then when Zeus, (alias for the word Overseer) died, a new person had to take his place. But no one did.

Everyone broke off and annexed themselves from each other. Soon bickering and quarreling about supplies rose, and escalated into fighting. It was after the first outbreak that a new man, a representative from the Hades house, decided to make his rie to power. The catch was, he liked the idea of fighting houses, and institutionalized the Vault into a colosseum of sorts, in which each house had to fight for their supplies, and the winner would could have one of two options, to become the new Overseer and continue the torture, or leave everything he had and exit the Vault to never return.

How it Starts

As far as this, I'm undecided if we will all be newcomers fom outside the Vault into this corrupt system, or if we will all represent different parts from inside. Let me know whoever is interested and give me input/feedback, such and such. I like this idea, and this is only a small overview of what may come.

I like the idea; perhaps one of the winners who chose to exit can't really let go, so he brings back the newcomers from the outside to try and take over the entire Vault through gladitorial matches? That way you could have RPers as both newcomers and Vault Dwellers.

And also, something I forgot to put in there, this can also be continuous, so whatever RP'ers wins can choose to go out and recruit more people, hence rebooting the same RP just in a diff thread with a diff GM -- or champion.

Sounds really cool! So would like there be multiple people fighting from each house? Or just 1 represntative?

This sounds really awesome, I am up for it. Though personally I like Norse and Egyptian gods better, but that's just me. So is this a battle RP? If so then we should probably decide winner by luck. And yeah, the only logical way newcomers get to the vault would probably be that they were captured by the Vault's slaver or something like that.

There would be individual 1 v 1 fights, then tag team fights featuring you and a NPC you control. Lastly, there would be one free for all fight with 9 combatants at once. Thats the finale.

All together, you need three Characters, I'm thinking about reducing to two.

The only problem with this is, we would have to agree to some extent who lives and who dies. I think I'll make an OOC where I judge who lives and dies based on how they interact and post outside of the fights. Or I may flip a coin :whistling: .What my decision is, I'll PM both contestants before the fight and let them know how it'll play out. The last fight though, will be entirely up to you guys.

Actually, the ffree for all could probably go first since not all people with represent each house (i.e. three people in Poseidon, none in Athena)

Well to me, I guess its the fact that I know too much about Egyptian gods and too little about the Norse ones! If I go with the Egyptian ones, there's going to be a hella lot, and I'm not sure how I could create a balance between them all. For example, what would the Ra house be in charge of, heating? If heating is Ra, then what is Seth? You see what I mean?

And I just looked up NOrse gods, and theres a bajillion. I'll keep both options in mind though, its just that I knew the Greek, and they're relatively short and simple.

By the way all, I also have another RP that I'm thinking about, if this one weren't to get off its feet. But it will not yet be revealed. Muah ha. ha.

Norse could work, I find them more mysterious and interesting than the Greeks or Egyptians gods. Here's a very brief description of the more known Gods:

-Gods and Goddesses-

Odin- Father of All Gods(Overseer)

Forseti- God of Justice

Freya- Goddess of Love

Heimdall- God of Light

Hel- Goddess of Death

Loki- God of Lies/Trickster God

Njord- God of Sea

Thor- God of Thunder

Tyr- God of War

Ull- God of Hunting

Alternate Titles:

Warriors of Valhalla

Heroes of Asgard

Guardians of Gimle

Regardless, the concept will remain the same. As for battles I do think they should be done via some kind of dice roll and then have them work it out via PM before commencing. Though it would be good to judge their skills as a writer and their history of commitment to a RP before making a final decision, and yeah, I don't think the free all is a good idea for the final nor does it make sense. If anything the free for all should be at the beginning.

At any rate, this seems like it could work very well, providing were all sportsman like. It would be kinda of like a game show, people could join again after each new champion.

Hope this does well.

Yeah, and each champion would reincarnate the RP, which is why dying isn't that bad. I'm still on the borderline wether we should die or just get [censored] up, and yeah I did think in my mind the free-for-all would be at the beginning, but most of the players would be NPC's just to ween out the few that will actually be worthy combatants of the tournament to come. But, I'm open to ideas still. Who else think the free-for-all would be bad.

Yeap I say we judge either by...

-Writing skills- Basically just who makes better moves, accordingly. Such as counters and assaults. I suggest this

-Dice Roll- Duh....

-Coin-Duhhh

And yes a gameshow idea would be good. If are character dies we can join again.

I have to disagree. We all want to think that we are honest people, but it just be posts of one upers and people doing things above their skills just to stay alive. Or their both too polite to take the win and no one gets a kill in.

I know, but for example. Someone saying "I swung my sword at him" doesn't deserve to get a hit rather to someone saying "Cautiously gripping my sword, I slashed with all my might at the other mans defenseless neck."

Okay, before I even start the official thread, I need to know what we're going to go with, dying, or out of the contest for new Overseer/leaving the vault.

And the other person would just respond with

"I barely manage to get my shield up in time, the shock reverberated down my arm and sent the man stumbling backwards, I lunged for his poorly defended torso hopping for a quick kill"

And so on and so forth, see what I mean? It should be decided beforehand

Dying would be the more realistic way to go and emotionally impacting, you would want to win each round. But making a new character every time the one you poured your heart and soul into is killed beacuse you rolled a one is a real [censored]

I would consider doing this, but judging on the way RP's have been going on these forums, most fail within the first week or two. :sadvaultboy:

Maybe we should leave it up to the player to give mercy? Heres an example.

Lets say me and Yttrium fight. ( Because I really hate that kid =P )

Ant1iv3 rolls a dice for us. I get a 4 and Yttrium gets a 5. Yttrium gets to win in his next post and destroys defeats me.

Its up to him to spare or kill me, not informing anyone of his decision until the final moment. Adds suspense, in my opinion, because we never know what everyone will do.

Thats just me though. :vaultboy:
