A Vault adventure Within englands midlands

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:49 am

find a film called kidulthood, then one called advlthood have a look at britains life now find a song called kidulthood to advlthood................ a vault tek advert would of worked a treat on the option to complete safty and securtity would of taken our instincs ryte away from us.

a nucler fallout would hit england harder than any other in the world because we hide our weaknusses with a vengence.

Yeah I looked up the film n I say, ok they are kinda simlilar, kinda. I still stand by what I said because even tho it's similar to a part of American culture. A part of American culture that doesnt represent the majority of American people and most likely thats the true for England as well. I didnt say there wouldnt be similarites, I said that it wouldnt have that 1950's American feel. Just like those movies are similar, but not the same. It may be similar, but in the end it will have a distinctly British feel.

it wouldnt that have that american 1950s feel no your dead right. but if people look and 1950's england and imigine that they had the same advert fear and scare. it would hit britain more and corse mor controversy and feel than any other game to date if produced reaseared and had that right trailer, BOOM! amerca and england would have it all..., maybe not they would say it would bring things to a tense stand still, this kinda game that future of life it turn into we both as a country need t look at... money that would be made the issues it would bring for england, i dont know makes look for the better in the furture than plans we have now.

I like to think George Orwell's Oceania/Airstrip One describes the best post nuclear England you can dream of.
You've got a 50's retro-futuristic London ravaged by war and a few A-Bombs, people kept at the edge of survival, an oppresive goverment, propagand everywhere, xenophobia... you'll feel really at home

With that item added within, the fallout serious has already begun... takes peoples veiws and thoughts from them a produces it into a reality within a simple but noto complex Game.. thats all were for

I understand the fear the part but you lost me after that. If I'm understanding you correctly tho I'd have to say not really. By the way I'm a multi-racial American. Black, White, Native American, and Latino. Since you brought race into this.

Hmm it could work, at some point Fallout is going to have too, if the series continues, branch out into world affairs, e.g. the state of China, Europe etc to think America was the only ones to take precautions before the bombs dropped is silly. I wouldnt be suprised if we see a lot more references to beyond the USA in FO3.

Having been to Nottingham recently though I can't help but think the locals have already recieved a large dose of radiation and perhaps St Anns was where the bombs impacted? :P Is FO4 already playing out in some parts of the UK!? :)

i do wonder that myself sometime :P

i think it would be an interesting idea to set a fallout game here in england. i can see it now, vast groups of super mutants hanging round infront of the radiated remains of the nearest general store, draqed in gold and wearing burbury caps, snarling "wot you lookin at" as you walk by... oh the fun.

seriously though i would like to see it, it would be interesting to see what manchester would look like in a post nuclear aspect, although im pretty sure i can guarantee there will still be parts of the city where not one (now derelict) car still has a radio... :D

As much as I'd love it to be set in Scotland, unless it was set in Edinburgh (yay but never going to happen) or Glasgow (ugh) no one would know the difference. They'd walk out of a vault set under a mountain and appear in the Scottish Highlands and nothing would have changed!

Personally i think this could be done.
But it wouldnt be fallout as such. It could be a game in the fallout universe, but it would inevitably take on a different style. Ive gotta agree with africanusdex on that point.

But yeah it would be good.

I reckon it would end up as doomsday style in scotland.

and emz whats with the (ugh) at glasgow :P

I noticed a lot of Nationalism in forums in general. Just saying.

I have no idea how geographically the UK main island thing is mapped out but I say no. Fallout is about 50's paranoia with contradicting cheerfulness. Excuse my lack of British culture but aren't the culture revolutions starting out right around then? DC is a good choice as it can be transformed to embody "peace, freedom, and bacon and eggs".

I always thought it was about nuclear war, the running out of oil and other natural resources and the inevitable wars that broke out across the world. How long can this global story stay in America before it gets old?

The 50's was merely a theme, and not a controlling theme when you think about it, and erm I think Britain had a 50's too! we had your music and you had ours, we had the same style TVs and crappy nuclear government advice too :) Peace, Freedom isnt copyright America :)

If I was going to play a post-apocalyptic style game based in Europe, I'd rather go with something based off Battlefield: Earth ( the book, not the horrible movie with Travolta ).

besides all of the above... i would think bacon and eggs is better represented by england... along with mushrooms, black pudding, baked beans, sausage, tomatoes, toast... never heard of a full english Breakfast? the clue is in the name :P (a small point i know, but one which i felt had to be made :D )

Ok lets not risk this getting locked and get back on topic :)

It does sound likely there will be a FO4 based on a few dev comments and the fact that Bethesda has paid for it, I do think they'll have to branch out to other areas of the world eventually, there can't be much more story left in America alone.

Edit: PS anyone interested post apoc Britain should watch the series, "The last train" very good!
