Vault Creation Contest

Vault 5:
Vault 5 was comprized originally of 100 scientists, 50 male and 50 female and were already paired before entering the vault either by pre-engagements or by contractrial consent to keep the population of the vault going. It was arranged that in this vault that no two couples should be related in any way either between each other or to the other 98 people inside the vault.

The number 5 was given to this Vault to signify the 5 most common insects they would be studying: Roaches, Flies, Ants, Wasps, and Spiders. Each species of insect would be contained in three seperate rooms with fifteen rooms total to run the experiment successfully and would be fed on nutrient rich paste to sustain them. As well each room would contain several mating pairs to ensure that the specimans would not slowly die off.

In the first group of rooms the insects would be subjected to an oxygen rich environment. In the second set of rooms they would be subjected to increased radiation levels at normal oxygen levels. And in the third set of rooms they would be subjected to a combination of both. These experiments were to find out what course nature would take if any of these events occurred naturally in a controlled test environment.

Since the results of the test were held to be of utmost importance the people in Vault 5 were not given any means to execute their test subjects if things went badly. In fact, Robo-Brains were stationed in the vacility as well to act as helpers and to ensure the compliance of all the personel in the vacility. If any personel threatened or harmed a test subject the Robo-Brains were programmed to exterminate said offendors.

The test results are as follows:

Control Groups 1: Oxygen Enrichment

Roaches: Slight growth increase
Flies: Slight growth increase
Ants: Slight growth increase
Wasps: Slight Growth increase
Spiders: Slight Growth increase

Control Groups 2: Radioactive Contamination

Roaches: Growth increase in comparison to a house cat, Slight Mutation: Harder shell
Flies: Contamination killed the test subject
Ants: Contamination killed the test subject
Wasps: Contamination killed the test subject
Spiders: Contamination killed the test subject

Control Groups 3: Oxygen Enrichment and Radioactive Contamination

Roaches: Growth increase prevelent, size increased to that of a medium dog, Mutation: Harder shell and appearance of Loose Hive Mind Organization
Flies: Growth increased in comparison to a house cat, Mutation: Increased aggressiveness, Spits a small damaging stinger-like dart
Ants: Growth increased in comparison to a house cat, Queen is of monstrous size, Mutation: Increased aggressiveness, Harder shell
Wasps: Size increased substantially in comparison to a medium sized dog, Slight Visibal Mutation: Harder shell covered in wirey hairs
Spiders: Size increased substantially to about the size of a cow, Mutation: Harder shell, Web building has stopped instead the subjects use web to drag their prey to them, abdomen covered in exoskeletal spikes

Robo-Brain Recorded Notes: Test subjects escaped, vault population destroyed by test subjects or were gunned downed by Robo-Brains in accordance to programming....

Vault T.E.S 4 : A portal to Oblivion .

Vault Valve: A vault with a great team of game developers who make a couple of great games at first but afterwards just start making L4D sequels and constantly delaying or never speaking of sequels of games that everybody wants. :cryvaultboy:

Vault 22: 999 blind people and one man with only one eye that can see. The Vault was not given an overseer and nothing is in braille.

Vault 25. The worst known death row inmates of the time leading up to the great war. They were all given fake executions and secretly taken to Vault 25. The vault was also populated with some of the most well known anti-war peaceful pacifists in the nation.

Vault 26: No colour at all in the Vault. All books, pictures, video, all in Black and White. The walls, floor and ceiling, all the same shade of grey. All food was a grey nutritional paste which they had a 50 year supply. No plants or animals. Even the Vault suits were a unique grey colour. All paint and art supplies, you guessed it grey. The only colour in the Vault would have been the colour of peoples eyes/hair. The Vault was designed to stay closed for 50 years.

Vault 24. A vault big enough to house 3000 people for 20 years. The vault was given a number of weapons. For all intensive purposes it was a normal Vault. People from all walks of society. All forms of ID were taken from them. Any personal family photos taken as well. Ten days after the bombs fell a gas was released throughout the entire vault. This gas erased everyone memories permanently (amnesia gas). Everyone lost their memories of who they are, why and where they are. They even forgot there was even a great war.

All the vital functions of the vault are run by computers and robots that do not respond to the vault dwellers. They just do as they are programmed.

- A vault with 1,000 people with random disabilities. Some lack arms, some lack legs. Some are deaf, some are blind. And to activate for example a Jukebox, you need a voice identification and fingerprints.
Purpose: Study how people can co-operate when they can't complete even the smallest tasks alone.
- A vault with 1,000 babies in deep freeze. Automatic processes would bring them back to life some 5 years after the War and keep feeding them until they grow up. There are books and material for only basic needs, such as resources for learning English and to maintain the vault. Otherwise, nothing, and the inhabitants shall never know who they are, why they are in a vault, and just why.
Purpose: Study how 1,000 individuals start a new society from scratch, without any knowledge about the life outside the vault.

Reminds me of Grunt from Mass Effect 2 :P

Vault 7: This is the smallest Vault currently fuctioning. There are only two rooms, and he residents comrpise of 300 people who are clostraphobic all placed in a tightly-packed room together, where they must sleep, socialize, and eat food which dangles from he ceiling. In the second room, there are only 2 residents, both being afraid of open spaces. This room is roughly 40 metres squared in area, and food dangles from the ceiling just like the other room.

Vault 123: This Vault is comprised of 100 people suffering from OCD. They may do as they wish, however there are several rules. Breaking any one of them will lead to the whole Vault being competely massacred. These rules are as follows:
-- Locking and unlocking the door more than once at a time is strictly forbidden.
-- Having an organized schedule of which time you eat/sleep etc. each day, is strictly forbidden.
-- Counting the number of paces a spot is from your location, is strictly forbidden.
-- Washing ANY part of the Vault, or its residents, is strictly forbidden.

The Vault lasted a total of 125 and a half minutes: somebody discovered that the door is 25 paces away from the back wall.

Vault 31 (sorry if this number has been taken): One male and one female were admitted to this vault. There were enough supplies to last for hundreds of years. The purpose of this vault was to study the effects of inbreeding, because the offspring of the two residents would be siblings, but the rules of the vault involved continuing to breed. Vault 32 was placed beside Vault 31 with the purpose of monitoring Vault 31 through cameras placed everywhere in the vault. After several generations of Vault 31's inbreeding, a mutant function was produced: The ability to spit out a highly corrosive acid. The mutants slobbered all over the walls of the vault and the saliva eventually corroded to Vault 32, and the mutants overtook Vault 32. Vault 31 and 32 are now currently occupied with inhabitants that have mutated even further and still have the ability to spit out acid. They have lost all ability to reason with humans and will attack on site.

Vault 82
Original population: 1302
Occupants: Carpenters, car mechanics etc (Basically anyone who knows how to build & repair stuff)
Purpose:
The purpose of this Vault was to just throw a bunch of people with the knowledge of building stuff together and once the vault opened (2107) they were to use their skills to create new buildings and to salvage and scavenge parts from destroyed towns and fix stuff up again.
This was what they were told.
But the medical team in this vault were to use a form of lethal virus on certain inhabitants and their children and children's children until they were let out of the vault.
This virus that they injected into people stayed in a passive state until the infected person dies, once he/she dies his/her body will emit a small airborn virus that will kill everyone around them.
The virus is uncurable and once someone dies this virus will stay for a couple of centuries in the area.
The purpose of this virus was to see how lethal it was and if it could be used later down the line against china.
The medical team were injected with a vaccination to prevent their deaths, they were to record the effects of it.
History:
When the vault sealed shut people were scared, but after a few weeks they started to assimilate to their new underground life.
The medical team started their experiment on 10 people, claiming that they were sick from a new disease and what they injected into them was something to stabilize it until they found a cure.
Years passed and the inhabitants started working on several projects and started teaching their children of how engineering and carpentering worked.
At 2089 the medical team decided to test how lethal the virus were.
So they staged a trap which one of the 10 test subjects, John Starr, walked into.
John was in a critical condition after the accident, and the medical team decided to seal the area to prevent the virus from reaching the outers levels.
On the speaker they warned all habitants that a virus had been let through the vault and had everyone seal themselves in their rooms.
On the security monitor they watched the sealed room with John and a dozen others in.
Screaming out for one of the doctors to come and help him, kicking and punching the door.
Once John finally passed the others looked shocked.
And after a couple of minutes they started to scratch themselves repeatedly over their whole bodies.
A minute after that none but one one could stand up, all were lying on the ground squirming in agony except for one man, Shawn Reyes one of the other test subjects.
Eventually blood started to seep out of their ears, eyes, nose and mouth.
It seemed like the virus ate them from the inside out.
Shawn screamed and punched on the door once again, until his hands were broken and his throat was coughing blood.
Soon only bones and a floor of blood remained.
Shawn sat in a sitting fetal position rocking back and forth and seemed like he had snapped mentally.
The virus looked very promising for the medical team but decided to not let other test subjects die until they had contact with their superiors.
But whoever their superiors were, they never contacted the vault again.
Life continued as it was after this, with the room tightly sealed of course.
Over the course of decades the medical team teached their children about their purpose and how important it was so the experiment would continue past their days.
The infected people had children aswell, cursed with the same disease.
When an infected person was about to die, from old age, another disease or an accident the medical team disposed of the body.
Life continued until 2106 when some of the infected families started talking about what were so special about their bodies that had the medical team dispose of them differently.
They confronted the medical team which tried to take them down with shock guns and tranqualizer pistols.
Overwhelmed, the infected families forced the medical team into submission and searched through the files on their computers to find out what was going on.
When they found the medical data, their mission report and the survaillience tape of John dying they were shocked.
They executed the medical team and sat down to talk about what they were going to do.
After a couple of days they figured the best way to save everyone in the vault from themselves they had to commit suicide.
They sealed themselves into a room where they all hung themselves.
Problem was, one family of 3 brothers and 1 sister remained...
2106 vault opens.

Aftermath:
After the medical team were found brutally murdered and some people gone the others thought that the only place they could have ventured was outside.
They opened the door and found a desolate wasteland.
A team decided to venture out and scout the area for other survivors of the bombs and for the murderers that had left the vault.
The team came back with a caravan of ghouls and a couple of humans which explained what had happened to the outside while they weren't there.
The inhabitants of the vault felt it was time to leave.
They opened up their sister vault, vault 82-B, which held numerous different materials, tools, equipment and started to put their skills to the test.
After just a couple of months a town was set up, it was named Soleil, The Vault Oasis.
The caravan decided to set up shop here and some headed out to tell others of the newfound town.
Soon people came from other towns who wanted the carpenters to build new structures and fix their mechanical things like water purifiers.
The town grew and grew and gained more power.
But one day one the four infected siblings, Christopher Hobbs, only one of two to remain in the area decided to take control of the town.
He with his mercenary guards ceased control of the sister vault and all of it's materials and demanded that people pay him for whatever they wish to take.
The one thing that these people were good at was held at gunpoint by Hobbs and they were forced to pay for the earlier free material.
During the coming years people started to hate him more and more and one group of carpenters had enough, they attacked his mansion and took him prisoner.
The people had a public execution for him, at which point he laughed and said that they were all going to die.
They hanged him and sure enough soon afterwards the virus spread around.
The caravan of ghouls who had been out at very profitable run were returning home only to find a town of bones and dried up blood in the sand.
The ghouls were no exception for this virus and they soon had the very same effects only quicker.

The town of Soleil became a ghost town.
Every so often scavengers found this town and walked into it.
Only to die from the same virus...

Man this crap took me way too long to write.

So would the babies be taken care of robots? Thatd be interesting a new society taken care by machines, reminds me of Invader Zim where a robotic arm breaks a tube birthing Zim, then says "I love you cold metallic robotic arm."

Vault 18
Population: 20
Occupants: Special ops agents
Purpose: The inhabitants are all cryogenictly frozen down, once very 50 years one is defrosted and equipped with chinese stealth armor, weapons, food, water and other equipment.
The agent will have to venture to other vaults and check up on their status and report back.
History: What's to say, the first one in 2127 made it back and reported what had happened in the vaults he could venture to, the one in 2177 died, the one in 2227 made it back and the one in 2277 made it back.
After they had returned back though, they were frozen down again.
Aftermath: Yet to come.

Vault (# here)

Built deep under a hospital. Idea behind the vault was for it to be a medical research vault. The vault was supplied with the best medical equipment of the time. A super computer with AI was installed as Overseer with a group of hand picked Doctors to run things. People selected for the Vault all had high to genius IQ or award winning athletes from across the country. DNA (sperm and ovum) from hundreds of people that have died was also included. It was to be an alternative to F.E.V research (which was to make supermen). The Doctors were to use what ever means necessary to create a human that could survive Radiation, Chemical and Bio weapons. To make the perfect man (In the Eyes of the Enclave).

The vault was supplied with Robot guards and jails for the people incase they were unwilling to cooperate. Each room was as sterile as a hospital room. Each bed had restraints. Drugs were also well stocked. Everything to improve human performance "to make you all you can be" was in this vault all but FEV. It also had many cryogenic chambers and enough food to last at least 100 years

The AI was programmed with the Enclaves ideals for the perfect human. It was not programmed with ethics. Human suffering is not it's concern. It had total control of every room, every computer, every robot in the vault. It's goal, to make the "perfect" man by any "means necessary"

Once the great war started, all communication with the Rig and the other vaults was lost. The Vault was only to be opened by the outside.. (Not that it could not be opened from the inside but only the Computer had the codes, It's waiting for the signal to open). What has happened to the people within after so many years?

Vault 25:
In this Vault, biologists stationed there would feel right at home as they were assigned with testing FEV on animals. Tons of exotic animals were present and given a wide berth in their cells because they would no doubt multiply over the years to come. On the day of the Great War, most of the scientists showed up and began testing soon after the door closed. As they opened up their first cage (a Siberian Tiger) the bombs hit. It would turn out that there was a computer error (not part of the social experiments) and the door would not completely close. Most inhabitants would perish after the first hit, ghouls would die in the coming hours at the hands of the tiger. 300 years later (forgot the timeframe of the game), this Vault contains mutated creatures, virtually unheard of out in the Wastes. I hear that the sloths are fairly dangerous.

A perfect recreation of a pacific island paradise with guys, girls and simulated surf and sun. But no little pink umbrellas for the cocktails NOOOOOO.

And have the "Sun" give of a constant dose of radiation to see the effects fake light would have on survivours. leading to some very sunburnt muties battling it out over the deckchairs.

vault 506: this vault just sounds cool, considering fro the big number..

but this vault is located underneath the desert , it use to be a known secret accessible threw a basemant in a small shed, but after the war, a sand storm kicked up and was hidden under the sands... the main use for this vault was for area 51 solders, workers scientist, every thing hidden away. such as with aliens, ufos, pre-war mutants, zombies, etc. the thing is the government knew that it would be covered by sand, but they didnt want to tell the civilians of the vault, they also didnt want to name it 51, this would show outsiders that it was used for secrets. after the fast war was over, the scientist wanted to look outside to gather information.. they never could leave, the sand out side covered the basment door and now theres no way in or out.. over the time, it was a peaceful habitat for everything.. but soon the power starts to die slowly, the cages that are around the creatures start to wear down and the workers start to worry.. over a short year they took scraqes that they could find around the vault and make stronger cages around the creatures.. but with there accomplish came great sacrifice.. they scraqed the guns for metal, so no need for the solders, the workers worked them selves to death, and soon the scientist gathered all they could and could not find anymore information.. times were boring in vault 506.. the food suplie goes dry, and they have to use dead bodies, and scraps of old food that they could find in order to survive..

as time came to an end and the last remaning people were on the edge of death, until the enclave find the government papers on area 51, so they dig up the old vault door, and find out that the old vault was on the verge of extinction, but they also see the trapped creature in the back of the vault.. and they are left with no choice but to put the remaning surviers in a cage next to them.. so that way theres no way people could ever find out about area 51 and make a civilization more threatining.. so they keep it a secret..the only good thing about being in the cage, is that they now get fed.. all that is know about vault 506 is the enclave solders who watch the inside of the vault and guard the outside doors.. and any outsider that comes near, gets shot and killed or put in the cage with the remanig survivers.. .. the only person who could save the survivers and let free the governments secret, would be someone who could survive being shot at, and kill out the enclave of the vault area, or survive being burryied undered under sand and is awakened by a docter and whats to get his memorie back on why he was trying to deliver a package.. but who could we know that could survive all this?? :vaultboy:

vault 19
100 men 900 women all of which believed six is wrong
vault jumpsuits were man thongs for men, and sport bras and shortshorts for women.
all entertainment material (until the overseer types in the comand) would be pormo movies, magazines, comics, novels, and romance novels.
20 days after the door is sealed "relationship enhancers" would be added into all meals.
40 days after the door is sealed pheromones would be vented threw the air ducts to heat things up.
after 4 months the jump suit machine would only produce 3 sets of male and female clothing every week but would offer cod pieces string bikinis instead.
the birthing center is twice the size of the vault's residential area with its own doctors garb producer.
after 6 months a secret wall would open to reveal a dispenser for viagra and lube
at 7 months the pheramone dose would double.
at 9 months another hidden door would produce diapers
at 1 year another hidden door would open to reveal a dispenser that would produce 1 condem a day.
at 3 years the pheremones would stop (via the overseers code if he so chose) and the vault would revert to a birth control society.

test, to force mass reproduction then try to quickly convert to controlled birth.

vault 33 same as vault 19 but no birth control implementation at all.

vault 41 same as 33 but no medical facilities.

Vault (# here)

Over two thousand men, women and children were to be in the vault. Just before the bombs fell the vault doors closed. The people soon discovered there was no food in the vault, no comfertable furniture. Just alot of machinery, and robots. After the first twenty four hours a sleep gas was released throughout the vault. When the vault dwellers awoke they found themselves trapped within a cold humanoid robotic body. Their brains were removed by the vaults computers and robots and placed within their new robotic bodies. Their human bodies were incinerated.

The vault was to test an alternative way for human survival in robotic form. It was also to test how a human mind will deal with being detached from it's body.
The Vault Dwellers were also subjected to round the clock subliminal messages designed to show how great their new bodies were and how lucky they are.

Vault was meant to stay closed for fifty years.

(also can someone tell me how this is a contest?)
