Icarus scoffs to himself

Icarus: You don't, but they might have some caps. Honestly I bet you don't even know the first *thing* about mines! You've never even been on Earth before, or so I've been told! Sure you might know how to crack a computer code, but here on Earth, we have a thing called gravity, It makes all the difference, buddy.

Icarus kneels over toward the group and raises his voice slightly.

Icarus: And who said I'll spot *any* mines for you? And who said your boy Ryan can too?

Ryan: Well you don?t have to be trained to see mines on the ground. As long as we look where we?re stepping. Sure, four people are better than three, but it?s not making me pay.

Ian suddenly holds Icarus by the neck with surprising strength.

Ian: Gravity is a natural phenomenon by which objects with mass attract one another. Gravitation compels dispersed matter to coalesce, thus it accounts for the very existence of the Earth, the Sun, and most of the macroscopic objects in the universe. It's responsible for keeping the Earth and the other planets in their orbits around the Sun, for keeping the Moon in its orbit around the Earth, for the formation of tides, for convection, for heating the interiors of forming stars and planets to very high temperatures, the reason your non-existent brains fall to the ground, the reason that if I shoot you here and now, your dead, limp body would fall to the ground and for various other things. Mines, especially those with sensors, are composed of computer code. And who said I needed you?

Ian's sudden adrenaline rush wears out, and lets Icarus go. Ian stoops over, panting.

Icarus coughs out a bit of blood and stares at Ian, before pulling out his gun, a very simplistic looking laser pistol, and whips it over Ian's head.

Icarus: You jack***! Pull that again and I'll make you wish you never left your little Vault in the first-place! Another thing that we have out here on Earth is manners!

Icarus lets his gun down and points it in Ian, and the rest of the groups general direction.

Icarus: Hell, your right you don't have to be trained to see the mines placed by an amateur, but what about the professionals? The people who *really* want to kill someone make sure they hide their mines pretty well, actually. Your all pretty damned naive if you ask me.

Icarus: Ryan, is it? Have you ever disarmed a 14-KY Explosive Ordnance Mine before? Maybe a TC-44? I'm tellin' you, it's not a walk-in-the-park!

Ian looks like he's about to pounce at Icarus, but restrains his anger.

Ian: Ikkie, how many mines use sensors?

{OOC: In my opinion, I think most of the mines, like thi frag mine and stuff have sensors. Even homebrew ones like the Bottlecap Mine has one.}

Ryan: I think you are the naive one to point a gun at five armed people. What about we forget about the whole thing and just make our way to Hunters Guard. It?s midnight and the camp should be build as well. And what are we doing? Fighting each other. Besides, Ian doesn?t look to good, put down the weapon and let a medic check him.

Ryan: And to answer your question, I did in fact disarm a TC-44... [Lie]

{I thought Ian lies on the ground, the text is going pretty fast here ;) }

(( I never said my name was Icarus - but I'll assume you said Ikky. ))

Icarus holsters his gun and wryly smiles.

Icarus: Not Naive, heh, maybe stupid. Alright, I'll admit I over reacted, but you damn well better keep your hands to yourself, from now on.

Icarus backs up a few steps.

Icarus: To answer your question, there are a lot of mines which use all sorts of different sensors. Some are technological in nature, others... Not so much. Some use trip lasers, some use proximity sensors.. Hell, some you just gotta step on and they go off. Like I said before, It ain't as simple as you think.

Icarus: The people who plant these mines know that people are going to try to disarm them the way you plan on. Sometimes, just sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.. Demolition-men, versus demolition-men.

Ian: Then I have a gadget to show. Ikkie, plant the simplest landmine you've got there...

Ian points at a spot about 5 metres away.

Ian: And the most advanced one there...

Ian points at another spot 5 metres away.

Ian: Preferably with a sensor.

Icarus: Buddy, I'd love to oblige, but I'm E.O.D. Explosive Ordnance *Disposal*. I don't carry mines with me, too dangerous. [Lie.]

Icarus smirks and tilts his head over, looking to Ian.

Icarus: I'm guessing you have some sort of.. Techno-sensor detector thingy then? Me too, part of disposal means finding the things too. I never said that they didn't work, but in the hands of someone who doesn't get himself blown up on a daily basis... Well it's not even half-effective.

Icarus: All I've been saying is that if you want to be One-hundred and ten percent safe, your going to want to hire me, that's all.

(( I've got to go for today, sorry guys. Assume I'm with the group and I'm leading you to Hunter's Guard. It's not too far, and Heres a description of the city

Hunter's Guard: A small city or large town, but however you go about it, it's a large Shopping Mall turned into a town. Inside the Parking Lot are several towers made from various pieces of scrap metal, possibly from an Airplane hinting that an Airport may be nearby. The mall has four floors and the basemant. The Basemant and Underground parking area is the shiftier part of the Guard, the First and Second floors is a cross between a Trade District and some of the cheaper residences. The 3rd floor is the middle-class to upper-class homes and businesses and the top floor, which is also the smallest has a large observatory overlooking the nearby areas. The city is ruled by an Oligarchy, or a few people who are superior in class because of military standing, wealth, or otherwise. There are *MANY* Guards and guns are confiscated on the 3rd and 4th levels. Much of the mall itself is damaged but it seems to be getting reconstructed. ))

Icarus: Fine, I'll take you. Stay behind me and keep your eyes open, I will.

Icarus leads on, he moves slowly and flicks on a small flashlight that he attaches to his cowboy hat.

Icarus: Wont be to far now..

The group approaches a minefiel, completely unaware of its existence. Will the group stop in time?

{OOC: In my opinion, We could do a mix of both. Have small "snapshot', basically events, instead of a full-blown trip. Ryan, could you do me the favour of spotting a landmine? And just as a FYI, the bold text is just like in a story where the narrator tells what's happening. Events and actions happen through bold text.}

Ian rubs his and and says,

Ian: Good, time for a demo!

Ian brandishes his right arm and pulls back the sleeve, revealing two long, metal panels strapped to his forearm. He flicks the lid off one, revealing a multitude of buttons, switches and knobs, and twists a knob saying "Mine Dis" on it to level 5. Then, he proceeds to jump on the mine repeatedly, and surprisingly enough, the mine simply emmited a clicking sound every time he stomped on it, and didn't go off! He then picks it up and throws it like a frisbee. But when it flies exactly 5 metres away from Ian, it explodes in a large blast.

Ian: This little device that's built into my heavily modified Pipboy can effectively deactivate a mine within a certain radius. But as soon as it goes outside it, it explodes. Basically a mine-proof bubble. Come on, let's continue. don't worry, we'll be safe from the minefield as long as you all stay within 10 metres of me.

Ian turn the knob again, this time to Level 10.

{OOC: I really need to sleep. Your turn to make an event. 3 more until we reach Hunter's Guard. BTW, don't use bold speech to make other characters do something, or even control them with any type, unless they give explicit permission. Never even attempt to "puppeteer" another character. Sure, you can push them downhill or trip them up, but never control them, like "Ryan walks straight into a mine", when your character is Ian for example. But you can make things happen to them, like in the event I started. that's one of the basic rules of ost RPs.}

( This is what i want to happen to the camp, its a pretty long story and infuences the story line a lot, so first i want to know if u all agree then if u do, ill leave it, if not ill take it off.)

Back at the Vault, Jason and some guards are preparing to set a perimeter. Jason alligned the men and is preparing to give the men their positions around the perimeter.

Jason: Bricks, you and Tony take the south-east. Jones, Mckinley, you take northeast, Johnson, Patricks, take the South west. Holden you take the northwest, I need Preston and Stevens to set a patrol inside the perimeter. Get going, this is going to be long night! Free wiskey in the morning for whoever makes it ey? Hehe, get going!

Jason goes over to his family's makeshift bed out of some sheets they packed back home. Jason crawls in the tent.

Jason: Hey mom, dad.

He leans over to kiss his kids goodnight.

Jason: I'll see you in the morning ok? Take care, don't let the bedbugs bite!

Kids: Goodnight daddy!

Jason smiles.

Jason: Go to sleep angels...

Mother: Take care honey, take care out there.

Jason: I will mom, good night.

Jason crawls out of the tent. He heads over to the side of the perimeter that only Holden was guarding alone and joins him.

A few hours into the night and everything is quiet, no animals, no hostiles at all. The Guards pulled up some crates or barrels that they could find around and were relaxing around campfires they made to keep them warm over night. A few fell asleep and others were almost falling off their feet. No one got any sleep during the day, no one really could. Jason was sitting at his campfire, throwing stones into the burning wood and watching it send burning ash into the air. Holden was long asleep by then.

At one point Jason sat down against the boulder he rolled over to use as a stool and tried to get a rabbit's sleep. Out of no where, a loud voice echoes through the night, a shout of amusemant.

Jason: Heh, Patricks' winning at his dice game again.

Jason turned to the left and tried to get into amore comfortable position. A few seconds later, the radio buzzes on.

Johnson: Everyone! We're under attack! Come fa....! A gurgling sound comes out of the radio then it goes off.

Every guard woke up when Johnson radioed in, they were getting themselves together to go help Patricks and Johnson. By the time the guards started arriving, about 20 men and women were running down the road leading to the makeshift camp. They were dressed in rags with all kind of scrap metals on them and tire irons, some were naked and had colored hair. They were all screaming, like a chant of fear. Jason and the other guards that arrived first started to shoot at the group. Some of the attackers took out rifles and started to throw with empty bottles at the guards.

Jason: Get back, find cover and kill these sons of [censored]es!

The guards turned around and ran for cover, the attackers started to shoot their rifles around carelessly. Some others had Makeshift AKs and shot at the guards running away. Mckinley was shot in the back of the head and fell to the ground instantly, still twitching, gasping for life. Holden was hit by a bottle in the head and fell to the ground. Some attackers took out axes and chopped off Holden's hands. He was screaming in agony. They then cut off his feet, leaving only his upper part of the legs. They left him like that and started to run after the others. Behind them, Holden was screaming in pain and begging for them to kill him. The attackers started shooting at Jason and he gets hit by a rifle bullet in the shoulder. He stumbles a little but Bricks stops him from falling. They both run for cover near the Vault entrance. The Raiders storm into the village and start shooting at the tents. Inside, screams of helpless women and cries of children, moaning, crying for their parents, and then being silenced by the bullet. Jason starts to shoot the last of his bullets and hits a few Raiders putting two down and grazes another. Bricks sees Tony and Jones on the other side and tells them to start shooting at the raiders. All four remaining guards let off the last of the ammunition in their mags at the raiders, they manage to kill 6 more but Jones and Bricks are shot during the gunfight. The raiders get a bit anxious, they reach into some tents they havent shot yet and some that they have, and grab some men, women and children. Jason rushes in to save a woman and her infant from a raider. He hits the raider in the back of the head with the gun and knocks him out. jason is then hit himelf from behind by a woman with an AK. He is knocked out cold. Tony and Jones are beaten aswell by the raiders as they go back into the night with their fresh spoils.

Jameson: Hmmm...., Ian can you come here a second?

Jameson walk's off a few metres away from the rest of the group

Jameson: Mind if i keep an eye on Icarus, i have a feeling he's up to something and i want to find out.

Icarus' flashlight on his hat shorts out for a minute. While it's off a large shadow looms over the road and glides over quickly.

Icarus: Not too far now.. Any of you saw that?

Icarus flicks the flashlight on his hat and it turns back on. He scans over the trail but cannot see anything.

Abram comes out of a raided tent holding a raider with a knife to his throat.
Abram: Sit tight.

Abram throws the raider into a chair at uses the butt of his ak to knock the raider out cold. He then ties up the raider with some rope from one of the tents. Abram looks around.
Holden: Please kill me! Please!
Abram walks slowly toward Holden and stares at him. He then walks past him.
Holden: Wait! Please, please kill-

Holden fell limp. Abram hosters his pistol and says

Abram: Jason! Anyone?

He sees Jason laying on the ground, unconscious. A sobing little girl is pushing him.

Girl: Wake up! wake up!
Abram runs over to them.

Abram: Move back, kid.
The little girl steps back, still crying.
Girl: Whats wrong with daddy?
Abram: Daddy? Move over there. I'll help your...dad?
The girl nods.
Abram stands up and looks around the camp.
Abram: There gonna pay for this...

(OOC: I approve. :) Also I didn't think we had 900, I was thinking more of the 100-200 ish range. I think raiders could pillage that many people, most of which are unarmed.)

{OOC: All vaults have at least 1000 people, and the survival rate for that crash was 90%. So about 700-900. oh, and I'm working on an alignment shift as well. But, fine. Le's say there was a much higher death rate and there were 300 survivors. But the raiders could't kill the all. Anyway, who's the doctor character except me? Or maybe that's a plot twist. As soon as the Doctor convineintly leaves with a large portion of the elites, the raiders strike. People become paranoid, and form conspiracies, some thinking the group (Ian, Icarus, Jameson and Ryan) did it, while others think their fellows orchestrated it. This finally blows up to a full-scale civil war.}

Ian: Jameson, don't worry, I'll take care of him.
