The vault sounds like a good deal, but......... its just that, imagine the having to feed their ravenous hunger for over 20 years. *Shudders*

I think I might have to set up a few mines in the main corridor and I will just lock my door entrance. Wait for a few days and let the women kill eachother off until I am stuck with oh, maybe 300. Then the party starts!!!! ....AM I RIGHT!!!!

You have to remember for what the Vaults were actually created; they were created to be places where the 'state'? (or someone?) could get to see the implications of social experiements i.e. what would happen with 1 man and 999 women
and 1 women and 999 men.

As for how it would go, I'm sure that the 999 women and 1 man would do great. Most women tend to think (or feel) a bit more logical than men in these situations. The women will probably make a list on which ones the man were to visit each week or so. And remember that all human behaviour comes down to sixual behaviour...

I don't know why but everyone has oddly become a TAD-bit more horny the second that person posted the picture. pure speculation I say. If that was filled with the users of this forum I predict failure in 2 weeks.

That someone is the Enclave, which if you listen to them, are the state.

It wouldn't be a hell, considering this:

1. The women would go insane only after week or two after entering the vault. The guy has plenty of time to prepare himself.
2. I doubt that all the 999 women would wake up at 8 o'clock, rush to the man and gang-[censored] him. There would be turns, and the man would have to do it in about 4-5 times a day.
3. Considering that a normal person can live normally some 4-7 days without six, the turn system would be good.
And there is always chance for lisbian relationships, too.

Though it has to be admitted that after 12 years of this the thing would feel kinda boring.
If the people are ~20 years old when entering, and die at 80, it would be 60 years of this? I doubt.

Also, if there is only one man there, the children couldn't reproduce. Because everyone has the same father, the vault would die out in two generations.

Well, the dodgy thing is, the "cleanest" gene pool make up for that 1 man 999 women thing would be the sons reproducing with the older, original women. So you'd basically have 16 year olds doing it with 34-44 year olds yet you could, technically reduce the gene pool to on average 1/4th of the original males DNA before any "inbreeding" occurs. You'd have to be very selective about it though, and some women would just have to go without. It wouldn't be pretty though, and it'd sure be difficult to enforce.

This all assuming of course this vault was shut for a good 100 years or so, and not just 20.

Well in the Fallout world, I'd say Vault 69 would have a pretty good chance. If Andale can survive so long by inbreeding and eating and drinking irradiated food and water, I'm sure Vault 69 would last longer considering they have clean food and water. Those Swampfolk in Point Lookout survived a long time, although combine inbreeding with the "New Plague" and you've got some weird deformities going on.

In real life... the Vault might last a couple generations but that would be it.
