[WIP] Vault 64 - v2

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:06 pm

:)

1. Diner will get more decoration, including the freezers.
2. All containers will eventually get loot added to them.
3. Dark Vault. I think this is more related to your video card and mostly your monitor. It looks great on my monitor, but it has a 20000:1 contrast ratio. Yeah, I will brighten it up since most people do not have a monitor like mine.
4. Is there something wrong with ceiling lights? I put them there so you don't get the glare from lights that are lower down. Input requested.

Other items from the readme I am still waiting on...
3. All switches (including vault door control pod) animation matches current state of door. Green for open, Red for closed. No matter what order you activate them in. (Make sure this is true. Dont try to trick it by TCL through walls to activate out of order. Just under normal game play.)

11. The storage room is done. Including the 'buttons' that allow you to automatically sort your stuff into the containers. (This will also fully repair the items.) (anything wrong with this, such as items in wrong container or items you think should be sorted but are not?)

Thanks for the feedback.

I shall see if all the door switches are syncronised. Then I will further check out the storage room.

its not that, but it might add a different touch to the vault, a little more creative
so im thinking about
lighting tower, with the lights around a support post
or a sideways light attached to the wall.
just somthing to spice it up

What brand is it?

Samsung SyncMaster2333sw

just somthing to spice it up

Okay, so some random styles of lights. But, since its a tech vault, logically it would have to be a different 'area' and all the lights would be the same in that area.
Perhaps you didnt notice, but there are severy styles of lights in the vault already.

i bought a samsung syncmaster 26" for my current build. samsung rocks. :goodjob:

that contrast thing can be a bit tricky. from looking at displays at various stores there doesnt seem to be any consistency between the brands.

i dont see any issues with the door lights they seem to be in working order.

i noticed several panels with red lights on them. were you planning on using them as fire or security alarms of some sort. would be kind of cool to give them a purpose.

would it be possible to put video feeds from the cameras your going to install in security room and possible the overseers office. someone has to be watching the camera feeds after all. i see that you have the monitors already were you planning on adding some screenshots of the halllways?

i forgot to post about the diner in my last review. i didnt really see anything obviously wrong with it except that there is no mr handy to butcher your birthday cakes. :) maybe add napkin and silverware to the table top texture but thats no big deal since its been it was technically never completed.

im not noticing the issue with the lighting. the only area its dark is in the escape corridor which im assuming its supposed to be darker. in fact on my monitor i was getting a bit of glare when i was trying to read the notes on the board in the cafe. it goes away if you move around a bit but perhaps if you made the notice board less glossy or moved the lightsource a bit it would look better.

edit: its not a big thing but the clock in the training room is just a bit crooked. i tend to be a bit monkish about that kind of stuff pictures and whatnot.

I checked the Vault door and the switches work and are sync'ed! Will you be adding the spark effects and pressurized seal effects on the vault door when is is closing? Could you maybe not put trees in the atrium? It kinda ruins the technological feel with tall, green trees in the middle of the biggest room. Could you maybe move all trees into a special room all by themselves? Like, have a giant room with a bunch of trees and plants, and there will be vents leading from that room into all the others to supply the whole vault with oxygen?

Cool Mod, I haven't played it but from what I've read this is a really technical mod and your doing a good Job. I hope you the best of luck with this Mod and I bet it will be one of the top mods due to all the new features it has that a few big mods dont have.

1. Panels with red lights on them? Do you mean the red lighted keyboards with a monitor above them? Or the Green things with a lever on them? They are just wall clutter. I suppose I could make it so it turns the siren on if activated.

2. Not possible. I had no plans to try and change the displays since all the monitors show only static though-out the game. I tried to figure it out once, how to replace the screen with a picture, but could not figure it out.

3. Yeah, there will be more clutter in the dining area. :)

4. Yes, the escape tunnel is supposed to look 'less' used, the lights further apart. Now if I could figure out how to remove the shine on the billboard... I have tried a few tricks but it did not help much.

5. The clock is actually straight. I though it looked crooked too, but its just the surrounding angles that make it look crooked.

1. Huh? Everything on the gear door is part of the normal gear door animation. And I don't know enough about NIF files to try and edit that.

2. I like trees in the Atrium. Its the central gathering point for the vault, so I wanted some plants in there to help sooth the vault dwellers nerves from being underground all the time. I don't want to add a bunch of rooms that the player really has no reason to visit more than once. So I was not going to add a 'garden' room.

1. or are there gears in the game files, make the atrium look like a clockwork techno feel for the vault

1. Nope, there are no gears, other than the door gear. I would like to try and keep it simple since its supposed to be a 'not complete' vault.

Thanks for the well wishes. I hope a few people like it when its released. And I also hope it is a learning ground for new modders, to see how I did things and copy them. :)

Anything amis with the automatic storage room? Specifically, if you think something went in the wrong container, or is 'not' being sorted into a container.
Keep in mind, one of a kind unique items may not be sorted. If you think something should, let me know.
Mod items will not be sorted. That would be items from other mods.

On a side note, I am on pager duty. I spent 14.5 hours yesterday fixing problems. So, there may not be another beta this week. I could release the one I have, it has a few changes in it. Probably not worth testing though.

If this is not outside you modding possibilities, make a modified workbench that could turn normal weapons into unique variants? Like putting an Alien Blaster in with some ammo, scrap metal, and that would turn it into a Firelance? That would be really cool and it would be another edge in your vault.

i would use that every single time i went in the vault. but you also have to remember that there is more than one unique for a weapon, there may be 2 or more unique variants.

I was going to have a special workbench. I had such a room in the old vault. I could use ideas for recipies though. I think its usually 4 different items. Although, there is only 1 Alien blaster, so its limited on making more than one firelance.

i found a way to put something on your tv monitors.

Looks nice, but requires the script extender which I will not be using in my mod.

[EDIT]
Okay, how is this?

Still on pager support at work this week, so not much work done on the mod. Next week should give me more time.

much better. perhaps have one or more of the monitors use a pic of the hallways. wouldnt even need to use any video since a still shot would simulate it well enough. :)

take your time and dont feel rushed. most of us are patient.

I need somebody to take my 'four' screens in a 3D program and delete 'three' of them. Then I can make seperate images for each screen. I could put a slight animation to them, like the camera going back an forth by having multiple still screen objects.

Ok. I had planned on making the special weapons in the mod to be created using the special workbench.

Incendary shotgun and solar scorcher to name a few. I might even try to get the grenade laucher in there that somebody made. As long as its a resouce, anyway.

hey willie, how are you?

i could probably make the mesh changes for you if you want. if they are a vanilla mesh i can extract it and make the changes you want. just let me know which mesh it is and i probably do it in the next few days.

btw, did you get the other model i sent you? :D

You can find the mesh I used here:
\dungeons\vault\accessories\VMonitorBank.NIF

I removed everything but the 4 screens. There are two niTriShape screens, one in front of the other, so dont delete both of them. If you could make just one screen, that would be great. It does not need collision either. The 'screenless' console I made and the 'block wall' behind it are good enough! :)

I tried to use the mesh you sent, but it lacks the texture paths in the mesh, so I cannot add a texture to it. I have not looked into trying to add them yet. I may have to ask somebody who knows how to do it for help. lol

Stand Mod? Guess you will have to remind me.
I was going to use clothing manequins.

No, I dont think I will put a dance room in. That was one of the things giving me trouble with the last version. I was trying to get too exotic and missed the point of a technology vault.
