[WIP] Vault 64 - v2

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 7:11 am

hello WillieSea, how is it going?

How is 'what' going? :)

The mod, its suffering because I have been putting in long hours at work and I am too mentally exhausted to work much on the mod. (I am a programmer by trade)

I do have the arena layout done. I have started on making the obstacle course in the arena. There is a lot more I want to do, with more overhead bridges and stuff to make it more of a 3D fighting arena.

I even added a 'working' stop light street light pole.
Like this:

I have also refined the game a bit more as to what I want to accomplish. I think the Zombie game will be pretty fun. And possibly a favorite part of the mod.

that stop light looks awesome!

That is a working stop light. The walk and dont walk light up as well. All scripted by myself. The lights are objects I created using Nifskope.

The picture is from my Solar Scorcher mod I am working on... The one in Vault 64 will be in the darkened arena. :)

Will there be a beta soon so we can test the new zombie arena? I'm curious to see the new features you put into it that you didn't in the last one. The obstacles sound cool. And the spectating is cool too.

Been a hard week at work, and I have 2 Halloween parties to go to this weekend. So, there may not be anything until next week. The Zombie Fight game will be complex to set up and get working so there is a lot of work ahead of me for it.

Do you have to be a member to download the Oubliette? Because it says I don't have access to their download mananger.
EDIT: Nevermind. I found out for myself.

It took most of the day, but I have a decent texture on the Jackhammer now.

There will be a number of 'dead ends' that lead to where construction was taking place. Remember, this vault was not completed before the bombs fell.

* Falcon donated the Jackhammer mesh to Vault 64. Thanks again Falcon!

Is the jackhammer a usable weapon, or just for looks?

Thump Master was just a silly name I came up with. If you have a better idea, I am open to suggestions.

OMG, not another weapon!!!
No, the Jackhammer is eye-candy only. I don't know how to rig, and I am not sure how you would use it as a weapon. I suppose you could bust open locks with it though.

Lol, yeah. How are the other weapons you were making coming along? I think one was the "Solar Scorcher?" Wasn't someone making you a mesh?

You can find the solar scorcher thread here:
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1037421&st=0

I had some more fun making another 'construction zone' corridor. I used the 'hand saw' resource as well.

Does anybody know of any other tool type resources that I could use for the construction zones???

see http://sites.google.com/site/falconsteelworks/shoptools. you're welcome to use the models once i have them finalized if you want. however, they've got no textures (lol none of the dozen or so models i've made so far do). they might not be exactly what you were looking for, but the offer still stands. :)

btw, where did you find that hand saw?

cheers

oh, a miter saw and a drill press! Me likes!!!
I think they would go nicely in the vault if you would let me use them. :)
I can put a texture on them, no problem.

The hand saw is here:

I think this mod will be a hit on TESNexus, especially because there is nothing on there that even comes close to this kind of modding and scripting.

How about some initial images of the Arena?

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l237/WillieSea/V64Screen17.jpg

I think it is starting to look nice. Its nowhere near complete but its a good start. It should provide some interesting battles. :)
The stars actually 'glow' now instead of looking rather 'flat'.

I have also found some new resources. An anolog multimeter, pliers and soldiering irons. These should help the construction zones with more clutter.

The monitors look great, and the arena is much better than the first one, I like the addition of altered terrain and buildings. Can't wait to test it.

you can check out some pics of the models http://picasaweb.google.com/Falcon8204/ShopTools# . there's still some work to be done on them (mainly adding collision meshes), but the models themselves are pretty much done. i'll let you know when i have them done, and you can use any of them you like (how's that for a cheering section? :P ).

V64 is looking quite impressive, i must say. nice work. :goodjob:

cheers

I really think the drill press and miter saw would go nicely in the construction zones. The lathe and bandsaw, not so much. (I have worked a lot of construction and don't think they would fit as nicely based on their purpose.) I would be honored if you let me use them in the mod, with credit of course! :)
Yep! I appreciate your cheering too! :)

Thanks and Good! I would like to get another beta ready by this weekend. Perhaps Sunday or sooner. Today I would like to get the basic Zombie game scripts placed and try them out.

Update: I had some fun placing little red control boxes around the vault that you can 'pull' to set off the general alarm through-out the vault. The only place to turn it off will be in the overseer room on the computer terminal there. Its working nicely! I have also added some retextured weapons that have 'special' effects added to them. I will be adding more of these weapons to the mod as I get time.
There is an incendary shotgun and a High capacity assault rifle that shoots a heavier bullet. I upped the bullet force value to give it more stopping power.

I have the Zombie Fight game mostly working now. :twirl:

I just have some touch up work to do on it, like tracking your kills and displaying that. So far, only the freeform game is available, not the spectator or true 'keep score' game. But its only Wednesday so I am doing pretty good for another closed beta this weekend. There have been a bunch of changes since the last closed beta so it should be interesting for my testers.
