[WIPBETA] Vault 64 v2

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 6:39 am

is there any chance of this mod being ported to fallout new vegas.
Not anytime soon. I have to get over my strong desire to hate Steam first.

My head just exploded from all of the awesomeness in this thread. I'm not worthy!

The bowling alley alone is mind-blowing but the plinky game, a shooting gallery and Balloon Pop too? You're the man!
Yeah, perhaps I am a bit OCD on my mods. And its all done 'without' FOSE.

Some of my best released mods: (but not all of them)
Its a good range of various fun mods to play.

i havent had any issues with STEAM for years now. you can play games outside of steam itself it just takes moving some file folders around if you want. with a few exceptions, they are identical to the ones you get on disk unlike D2D which screws up everything. i used to do that alot in order to keep my games in particular folders for when i defrag. i use ultimate defrag so that i can put games that are resource hogs on the outside of the disk, but then i got lazy and didnt really notice any difference in load times if i left them in the valve folder and just had the entire valve folder on the outside of my disk. most of my games come from STEAM sales. maybe someone else has moved their new vegas folder somewhere else and can post if that works for that game. :)

I am not talking about the technical performance of steam, I am talking about the forced install of spyware and tracking of my single game play usage as well as future 'Steam goes out of business and you can no longer play that game' issues. Among my other concerns that come with a middle man.

I have redone the signs for the game. My next endevor will be to test if the milk bottle stack game will work or not. I may have to try and edit the milk bottles to give them bigger bottom and top collision so they stack in a triangle nicely.

An early image of the Vault Shoppe! All the items on the shelves will be 'static' versions of the real things so nothing happens to them.

I could use your help. This game needs a name so I am looking for suggestions before I make the sign graphic.

Nice touch with the lit checkout sign!

Game name suggestions:

MVP
Strikeout
Down Em All
Strike King (sounds more like a bowling alley)
Last of the 9th
Knock Em Dead
Knockdown
Armed and Ready

 Those are good!

Perhaps a combination of "MPV - Last of the 9th" would work.

I was thinking of calling it Ball Toss or something dumb like that, so that is why I was looking for ideas. ;)

Hmm I've got a question, because you have added so much mini games in your mod, I though you are the right man to ask.

So my question is: Is it possible to mod pool (billiard not square box of water kinda pool) in fallout 3 to be actually playable?

And when i say playable, I mean just change the behavior of the pool cue, so instead of swinging it, you can poke with it!

P.S. Right now I'm playing pool with sniper rifle

Thanks!!! =]

I hope you understand my question!

That would require a new attack animation for the pool cue. Its possible, but I don't know how to make animations.

I was actually thinking about playable pool but got stuck on that little point. And mini-fake explosions would not work since it would knock the other billard balls around too. It would probably also help if the balls had a 'rounder' collision zone too.

Trigger zones could be placed in the pockets so you know when a ball fell into one of them.

The other limiting factor, FO is a one player game, so you could not script AI to be good enough to play against.

I was thinking something like this:
1) You play by yourself (no AI, because you are right on that matter, it would be just waste of time trying to make it work)
2) When (if) you succeed in completing a round (put all balls in the pockets) you can reset the game using a button on a wall/counter/bar etc (and eliminate the use of triangle)

Oh and thanks for the quick reply!

You could always play pool like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYF1rM7lTHs ;D

Cheers!

wow! You have been busy! I have to go load up on a whole bunch of mods you've done.

on a side note. I have New vegas. I absolutely dislike Steam. I know others will sharply disagree with me, but I had more trouble with it than it was worth.

Have no idea what I will do if the next Elder Scrolls requires Steam. The game is good though.

any hoo glad to see you still plugging along on this. Now I have o go fill up my hard drive with your mods.

@phillygirl41 - Make sure you try the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15215 mod. It is highly recommended. And don't just run into the mansion, explore and find the 3 secret locations on the island.

I just started this an hour ago. I like the floor and walls, it makes it look upscale. There are 2 hair cutting stations along the back wall.
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/uploads/1290877995/gallery_85_19_40005.jpg

I really like the floor texture and the black walls. The neon lights really add ambience to the room.
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/uploads/1290877995/gallery_85_19_45734.jpg

I think I have the lighting correct in this room now. The Leather chairs give the room some elegance for a lounge.

Wow oh wowo! I saw the previous screenies. Oh my goodness! You are so talented.
I'm still playing OB with your ancient towers. I just started a new character there.
Still playing FO3.

Will definitely check them all out. I AM so glad you did not give up on modding. I was so worried.

Get some rest though!

This is the mini-game where you throw baseballs at the milk bottles. Knock them off the wall for points. If you get enough of them, you win credits!

Here is a close-up of the Thump Master 3000. No, its not a weapon! The texture probably took around 12 hours to make...

What about the mesh of the thump master? (just curious how long it takes to make a model for something like that, or where do you get those things if you don't make them yourself?) Where did you get the model for the furniture in the barber shop?

Your vault mod seems awesome. It kind of discourages me from making my own vault/hideout mod (which is in the works) there's no way I can compete with something like what you made.

The baseball game (all the games, really) looks amazing. I love the idea of winning credits. It's the little details that win me over and you put a ton of them in your mods. All of the signs look so good. I have a house mod somewhere which has a Nuka Cola tap. Any chance of one of those in the lounge? :)

If only there were an animation for Thump Thump being a weapon. I can think of so many NPCs I'd like to use it on. A girl can dream, right?

@mezo6 - Dont let it discourage you! Not everyone likes fancy mods like this. Go ahead and make your mod and you will gain valuable experience from it. I have been modding since Morrowind came out (they all use the same basic game engine) so I have about 8 years experience doing this.
The mesh was made by falcon8204 but they came with no texture. So I had to make one. I would like to 'dirty up' the one I have so it looks used when I place them in the construction areas. There have been several 'contributions' to this mod that are probably not going to be seen anywhere else. ;)
The barber shop furniture uses vanilla furniture, I just retextured them.

@ghoulsrpeople2 - I need to get a picture of the 'credit chip' posted soon. As for the 'Nuka Cola Tap', I would be interested in it if you can provide a link to the mod that has it.

The rooms lights only turn on when you enter them. And turn off when you leave. The doors are automatic as well, opening and closing as you get near them.

The repair center is almost done. For the barber shop, I want to retexture some bottles into shampoo and conditioner. And then drop some scissors in there and it should be done.

I have been building the living area. I am using special meshes of the atrium and I have made it 5 stories tall. I am working on the elevator scripts now.
I want it to look like a thousand people could live here, like the vaults were made to do. Not the 20+ that the vanilla game portraits the vaults as having.

Perhaps I will have some images soon of it. But you can imagine 5 stories will take some time to build.

take your time. We are still here. I still play this game, along with OB, and Fallout NV. Your mod will be as great as the Ancient Towers, or better as you view it.
Just still cheer leading you on.

I have pieces by meo's and cambragol that really made this a reality. The upper floors are penthouses, then luxury apartments, and lower are the small apartments.
The bottom will have a playground for the kids. And the end rooms will be classrooms, day care centers, recreation rooms, meeting rooms, theaters, etc...
