Vehicles in DLC

Post » Wed Nov 24, 2010 2:16 pm

Hi Bethesda and Players

I think it will be excelent if Bethesda put drivable vehicles with a DLC, even if it is just motorcycles (or just one that you have to make).
It will make traveling in the mojave wasteland and exploring areas way easier (also funner).
If you would be able to customise it, even just the colour would make it even cooler.
I'm sure mostly all players would like being able to drive and i hope Bethesda will read and think about my forum.

Thanks, downsy

I voted no.

However, if they made a DLC in a new area, that was much bigger but had a lot more empty wasteland between areas, and the vehicle could not be used outside the vehicle the DLC area, that could be ok.

The Vegas Valley would feel tiny. Plus with the environment, engine limitations (inb4BUTOBLIVIONHADHORSES), and generic-ness of it it's definitely not going to happen.

That part about not being able to use it outside of a certain area is a good idea, but it would take too long for them to make a whole new wasteland just for a DLC

I love the idea but it wouldn't work well with the game.

The map would feel very small.

Please, no vehicles. If people are complaining about map size while walking then what would they say for driving?

Novelty transport, maybe. Like, I dunno, a pogostick? But nothing that is actually conventional.

I wouldn't mind some you use during one quest or something. Perhaps you can use a motor race as a way of peacefully resolving a conflict. But using one all day would ruin the vastness of the wastes.

I do admit I'd have an absolute blast with a dune buggy. I'd take it out into the wastes solely to do donuts, jump dunes, flatten feral ghouls, etc etc. And I'd usually end up having to trek back to Vegas to get more flamer fuel because I ran the damn thing out. But I wouldn't want one to use every day.

They shouldn't.

But I wouldn't be against replacing fast travel by a car like the one in Fallout 2. Have fuel, will fast travel

If there was no fast travel, then maybe....but as it is currently the world is too small for vehicles imo

I think that vehicles and transportation should be saved for Fallout 4. A new engine and proper planning for the implementation of vehicles is key, I feel. However, I do desire two forms of transportation in Fallout 4: A cityline bus that acts as a mobile base that sticks only to roads and intersecting landmarks. For cross country expeditions, a Giddyup Buttercup for inflicting terror upon raiders.

The only form of transport I would accept are horses.
I know it isn't FO tradition, but damn the global oil crisis was one of the issues that lead to the nuclear war. Gotta lubricate my bike, bro.

Not to mention Ceasar's Legion would have been far more intimidating if they got around on horses.

Fallout 2 had vehicles. Can't remember if the rest had it. So it will only be a matter of time. Game makers aren't dumb enough to throw everything in the book on the first few games especially when they have a good series on hand. Features like these throw off bad reviewers/slaggers who go quickly go off the handle by generalizing about certain gameplay being identical to its predecessor.

Uhh..have you ever seen a real car after it hits a measly little 200LB deer? Now imagine hitting a deathclaw, which likely weighs over a thousand pounds.

Yeah. Your car isn't going anywhere, and that deathclaw is still 100% intact and 100% pissed off.

It would be cool if the overland map was a lot bigger and if this engine did vehicle physics well. The horses in Oblivion were acceptable, but not great. All of the vehicle mods I've seen, even the good ones, look and feel a little cheesy because of the game engine. I doubt Bethesda would do it if they couldn't do it well.
