Vehicles In Fallout New Vegas

Post » Sat Jan 30, 2010 12:21 am

Would cars change the fallout series for the better or just ruin the fun of having to travel long distances and explore on foot? If cars were included in the series would you be able to mod them, and would companions be able to mount a 50 cal on the roof of your car/truck? Leave your input or creative ides.

Depends. If added to the worlds of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, yes, it would destroy them. If added to games where vehicular were actually intended game play, then perhaps it could work out fine. But by that point id just wait for RAGE.

WHat if the vehicle had a realistic feel. Low fuel, rust, cnd would all play a factor. Would this then change your mind?

Again, in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, not a chance. They were made without vehicles in mind, so they would not fit at all. No amount of balancing can change my mind on that. And again, if they made a game in the future that took them into consideration, then perhaps it could work. But, again, by that point, I would rather play RAGE.

Fallout needs a new engine that can handle having cars. FO2 has a car and Van Buren was going to have many. Tactics also has cars. In those games they were just for going through the wasteland faster. The wasteland in those game was really a wasteland.

If the new engine for Skyrim that will inevitably be used for the next Fallout can handle vehicles well and the game world is substantially larger than FO3 and NV, then I definitely wouldn't mind vehicles. Not Borderlands-like, though. Raiders with cars that try to run you over the road and shoot inaccurately out the window would be O.K., but no big ass gun strapped all over the car.

Vegas is too small of a size and so is FO3 for me, so I'd prefer not using them if they were in.

I agree with the sentiments of 'If the game were made for vehicles, then yes'.

As it stands, Fallout: New Vegas is just barely able to keep up with the player while moving on -foot-. Just imagine the chaos of trying to put a vehicle into that mess... and you can see why a great many people say New Vegas sure as hell wouldn't do a decent car justice.

That said... if it COULD have a car, one that would work, in a purely hypothetical sense? Hells yeah I would drive it. So long as one such car is a Highwayman, I'm good.

I totally wouldn't mind the classic 'Corvette' style Corvega from Fallout 1 and 2, either...

It could kinda be like borderlands vehicles.
With added gas and condition
And taking away infinite ammo and vehicles themselves.
It would be nice then. Especially if there was a dirtbike to climb mountains. So I dont have to run around all of em
