Vehicles/Mounts

Post » Mon May 04, 2009 9:49 am

Since V13 is going to be a MRPG there should definetly be an easy way to move around the Wasteland. Vehicles to be more precise, player's could learn how to drive at a certain level from a certain NPC. And as such buy interesting vehicles to drive around from non-combat vehicles to full-on battle tanks. Players could make vehicles as well like an awesome Chopper or a jeep. Players could also tag along on vehicles and shoot enemies while another drives or you could just ride your possy around the desert looking for trouble. This would be great for PvP like two army jeeps with players mounted on, shooting at each other in a dog fight! There could also be race tracks or such stuff where you can race to earn money against NPC's or Players. You would however have to take care of your pet like giving it fuel cell's or going to a repair shop. There could be a vehicle oriented town that center's on all of these things, and reststops on the road that sell Microfusion cell's made specifficaly for your metal pet!

I don't think that vehicles should be too common, but of coarse BoS/Enclave (if they still exist as in small cells) should have vehicles. And the microfusioncells should be expensive to use in a car. But I wouldn't complain if you could ride a brahmin as well .D Image

Come with your car. I will lockpick it ;D.

To get serious. I agree with bikkebakke. Cars/Vehicles would be some nice extra when traveling around but they shouldn't be like a standard way to get from point A to B. To get a car one should own some bigger amount of caps/money and would have to feed it of course with MicroFusionCells or something similar.

Vehicles YES!

Would the Road Warrior be as cool if Max was running down the road with the Dogs of War chasing him?

Of course vehicles would be large material sink. Have to buy, make , scavenge fuel, and vehicles need to be maintained or they break and stop working over X # miles. Sure would svck to break down right in the middle of no mans land and have to walk back to town days away...if you make it.
You could pay mechanics to fix the vehicle or if you got the right skill fix it your self.

ANYBODY should be able to use a vehicle at low level. Why? Cause its not that hard to actually drive something around especially when all road rules and cops are gone. Those of you who drove dad's farm truck around the back forty at 7 years old will know this.

HOWEVER there should be a skill branch that allows expertise piloting vehicles. And one should get some perk for achieving this level of skill. your vehicle takes less damage over miles since your not hitting every cactus and rock along the way for example.

Yes to vehicular combat! Why can't I mount belt fed machine guns to the hood? Why cant I weld tire shredders to the middle of the tire rim? If you got the mats to trade technicians can do the modifications. You don't have to have science 10 to pull a trigger on the steering wheel... If you got the intelligence of a nuclear scientist fashioning a welding rig from an old 12V car battery is no big deal...

Yes to passengers and the ability for them to shoot! Of course there will be a big penalty to hit cause bouncing around inside a black interceptor while trying to aim is gonna be tough!

Yes to death races and driving events. You got that magnificent machine... now do you enter it into a car death race and risk defeat ( which means your car is highly damaged and out of fuel so its gonna be expensive to get her back on the road) or if you are the winner get the 100 gallons of fuel as a reward?

Big risks and Big rewards... The way of the Wasteland! MMO's... MMO's never change...

Great suggestions, i agree that a vehicle should be reserved for only those that can muster enough mulla to maintain one, that would also give players an incentive to trade and barter, do as many quests as possible just for the idea of having your very own Highwayman!

Haha! Awesome. :)

Well maybe one here and there over the wastelands between the major cities? O.o?
Other than that I don't know how many trains there might be available? :)

Sure hope to see those Highwaymans around even if I can't afford one myself. ^^

I like it. One suggestion... make the steam come from a nuclear reactor and now it's Fallout! A Huge welded together rusty train with a big "radiation" symbol on the front. Having the moving parts and wheels from the "old west " style trains but on the top and back of the engine have the round cement Fission cores and the iconic cooling towers from a nuke reactor.

Linking all the towns together could be a huge and long server event that all players could contribute to. Either by giving mats to the system or "working " on the track acutally making it, or providing security for the workers and fending off Super Mutants, Raiders, Slavers, Death Claws, . When complete this could be a form of "faster" travel. MMO's... MMO's never change...

Maybe a rail system that is open for the general public to take you to certain reigons as a/at the start.
Perhaps cars once you get to a certain level. Mostly thinking that it has to be a level requirement so you don't go driving to places that you're just not ready for right away.

I don't think there should be a huge emphasis on driving, though.
I have talked to a lot of people that aren't keen on the idea of vehicles in any fashion, but I feel vehicles should be in game because it is realistic to assume that even a war ravaged society would want to get frompoint A to poing B as quickly as possible, especially given the dangerous environment. Like your heart when you realize you're dying... but you're trying.
