Vendors shared inventory

Post » Wed Jun 30, 2010 10:10 am

I am trying to get 2 NPC vendors to share the same inventory container. I've created a new faction, added it to both NPCs, created a vendor chest and set the ownership to that faction. The problem is that the NPCs will not access the inventory container in the trading menu if ownership of the container is set to the faction. They will only access the inventory container in the trade menu if the ownership is set to an NPC, which means that the container can only be accessed by one NPC. Any suggestions?

You could try using http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/SetOwnership to change which vendor currently owns the container in an http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/OnActivate block.

Thanks, but this should be fairly straight forward, right? From what I can tell, there are number of NPC vendors from the game that are set up this way to share inventory (eg. The Staley's in Rivet City).

[edit]
Nevermind, I stupidly missed a step. All fixed now.

You all probably already know this, but I recently discovered an interesting fact. I had some items on display in some shops, and I set the ownership of them to a specific vendor, then all of those items became trade-able in the vendor's bartermenu. I had never noticed that before as I had always set the "steal-able" item(s) ownership to a faction rather than an individual NPC.

Whoa, I didn't know this. Thanks for the tip. This...'feature'...is actually interesting and useful if I actually did want to sell something that was on 'display.'
