Verizon Jetpack?

Post » Sat Jun 28, 2014 11:28 pm

Um. A friend of mine recently told me about this Verizon Jetpack thing which would allow one's computer (and other wifi devices) can be used as a hotspot for Verizon's 4G internet.

So am curious about this and wish to ask if anybody know more about this or possibly have experience with it? I am thinking about seeing if we can get this, cause we really need to get something better than dial-up really badly... And my friend said he checked our area and we are within range so this should be an option.

Hmm, sounds like AT&T's 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot that I use for internet. It's this little box that I get internet from. If it is though, be warned, you're likely going to be stuck with a terrible download cap like me. Hmm, maybe I should go check this out, see if it is anything like it. If it is and it doesn't have such a terrible cap...I am finished with my contract, might be time for a switch.....

My friend told me they should have an unlimited plan. (Which if they do, that's what I'll be aiming for). Just don't know the price. I know that the price for the box is 20 dollars per month (plus the plan you have) but beyond that, no idea.

Can you connect a PC directly to it or wifi only? How reliable is it? etc. That type of stuff I don't know.

I use one, they work really well. Just don't share your password with everyone. A friend of mine did in his office and got hit with 10G in one month. The bandwidth is not as good as a cable modem, but if you need a cell based data service, it's a good tool.

I saw "Verizon", then the word "Jetpack" and thought to myself, "that's what Verizon has been spending all my money on"? Then I remembered someone that often comes into my father's shop talked to me about one of these and wrongly suspected of me being well versed with them and more than capable of helping him with his.

That would be upsetting. Others using my system without my knowledge, running up my already atrocious bill.

I'm sad. This isn't available in my area apparently, which is odd, because after looking at it, it is pretty much identical to the thing that I get from my AT&T, just a bit more modern looking(mine is 2 1/2 years old, so yeah, go figure). No idea why AT&T's would work out here, but Verizons wouldn't, maybe I should contact Verizon and talk to a Customer Service rep, because their plans are a HELL of a lot better then what I get. 10gb for $60, plus whatever the hell that $20 a month charge is for "Monthly Line Access". Sounds like it's so I can connect more then one device at a time or something? I could care less about that, I'd just want it for my computer, so if I could get that removed, $60 a month for 10gb a month is 2x as much data as I get for $10 more a month!!!!!!!!!!! That would be FREAKING AMAZING. Sooo..yeah I think I'll be contacting their customer service come Monday.
