Veronica Voice Lines

Post » Thu May 06, 2010 5:32 am

So I've been using a multiple-companion mod recently, traveling with Cass and Veronica. Cass is quite the pvssyrbox; she has a line every time we go into stealth mode and frequently says her idle conversation lines like "sure beats dragging a Brahmin train across the Mojave."

However, I have Veronica too, and she doesn't seem to have either idle conversation lines or sneaking lines, and if she does, it's nowhere near as much as Cass does. This is bothering me especially because I swear I remember her having these at some point. Can anyone confirm whether or not Veronica has sneaking lines/idle conversation for them? Thanks!

Veronica doesn't seem as chatty as Cass, at least not in my experience, but I imagine this is more an effect of the mod more than anything else.

Yeah I'm pretty sure she has sneaking comments, maybe the mod you are using had to disable some of them (otherwise with multiple companions you wouldn't be sneaking so much as a roaring crowd) - check the readme and if there's nothing there post in the relevant thread on the Mods forum.

Actually.

I am looking in the GECK now and Veronica does NOT have any "stealthing" lines.

Cass is deliberately made to have lots of comments seemingly spontaneously, Veronica does not have that.

I turned every mod off and she still doesn't have any, good to know.

That doesn't bother me so much as the total lack of random banter, it feels kinda weird to have a completely silent companion following me around. :P

How do I check voice lines in the GECK? I'm fairly conversant in how to navigate it, so no worries about that, but where do I check in it to see them?

Looking at it closer - - Veronica does have some spontaneous line type things. But it doesn't compare in terms of volume and potential frequency to what Cass has.

Edit: look into the quests which have been named in a way that matches the NPC (cass, veronica, and so on)

Alright, without hassling you too much, is that something possible to edit fairly easily? Or am I better off not messing around with that stuff? I'd like to be able to increase her frequency and knock down Cass's a bit.

You cannot add voice lines for Veronica just like that. Well, unless you have Veronica's voice actress ready to send you some new lines, and from there you have to add and configure them, that is actually involved.

The last time I tried to decrease the frequency of certain voice lines it didn't go well - - well, it worked TOO well, I think. I ended up tearing all such changes out of my mod because when I tried to limit certain lines, it seemed to quell more than it should have.

Oh I know about adding lines lol, just curious about tinkering with frequency.

If it's wonky I'll just leave it alone and hope a mod springs up, thanks for the help!

There's a script on VCassTimer quest that checks for events and locations and makes Cass say the topics that are located on the VDialogueCass quest - Conversation tab. The script fires off the VCassLocationGeneralIdle topic once in awhile for stuff like 'sure could use a drink', etc. The FollowersStealthing topic in VNPCFollowers has her sneaking comments - Veronica doesn't have any of these. The VDialogueVeronica quest has much less on the Conversation tab for her reactions, and I think it's triggered from a few places, one of which is VMS49 quest.

Looking in FNVEdit, there's almost no 'idlepvssyr' dialog topic like there was for FO3. Almost all the 'idlepvssyr' in the FalloutNV.esm is in vDialogueNightkin.

I've been traveling with Veronica and she seems to have a lot of comments about the locations I travel to. So far she's commented on Helios One, Nellis, and Vault 3.
