Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 11:35 pm

I am hearing some of the textures are pretty bad on the consoles....as well as pop-in.

More than likely, not. One of the main things PCs have over consoles in most
games is that textures are much, much better. Also, we always get spoiled by
the world's greatest game modding community with oodles of awesome texture
replacement packs for, just about everything.

If they implement a material editor as good as the one for Unreal Engine, modders will make incredible stuff happen :)

"Spice the game up with higher quality textures."

Think about it..

Was that really necessary? Reminds me of people who post their system specs in their signature, or also post it alongside useless info like what mouse they use, screen size in inches "Dell XTreme AWES1234 HD 1080p Blu-ray 40" inches monitor"

Textures are going to be the first mods on the pc I can guarantee you that even if the default textures are high-rez. People are never satisfied.

I think it was fine? It's just a comment same as any other, some people are proud that they worked hard enough and achieved the top of the line. I'm going to be doing that soon too maybe. :P

Todd said we will, and we did in oblivion.
I expect 360 textures will be the same as low to medium textures on the PC, and that's not taking mods into account.

Don't get too apprehensive. I know people are sick of hearing it, but it was an earlier build of the game. We haven't had any footage from the beta build released yet, and even Todd said the screens are mixed- some are from Xbox, some are from PC, and if we can't tell the difference, that's a good thing for the console crowd :D

PC version has higher res textures available (if you have the hardware to support it). Source: Bethesda.

We won't get additional high-res textures, but we'll be able to set our game up in a way that allows the high-detail versions to show up more than the few metres away that consoles allow. Just as it was in Oblivion and Fallout.

I don't know, i've always thought a few of the released screenies had looked way too good for consoles, most notably the character mugs. I think what was done was that although he said the screens had been mixed, he never mentioned the PC settings that they had been taken on.

To elaborate on this point, within a year we will see amazing graphics done by modders. Morrowind has been continually improved since release. I think it's safe to say that Skyrim will be improved too.
