PC Version Request To Bethesda

Post » Mon Jun 27, 2011 8:09 pm

Yes, And it's not hard to install/uninstall mods without the mod manager. I can delete files. It's not hard. And OBMM wasn't working for me when I tried to install it (I REALLY wanted Darnified UI, and it wasn't working properly when I tried to manually install it). Gave me some sort of stupid error.

Hard, no. Tedious, god yes especially when there's alot of files.
Not too bad if you don't pile on mods but my Oblivion install has a bit over two hundred mods and god only know how many files from them so a mod manager is a necessity.

Well, of course, if you had that many mods. But I only had like 12 or so mods before finishing playing Oblivion.

There are literally dozens of AAA games releasing on Steam, as steam controls 70% of it's market.

:celebration:
/nom

releasing on steam and requiring steam are two separate things.. AAA games releasing on game again is fine with me but if I get a hard copy I don't want it to be required unless its a valve title like L4D3

But I want to ask, where does it say steam will be required? I did not hear that yet and I find it hard to believe(well I WOULD find it hard.. if not so many have been doing it lately)

It's a rumor going around.

Just like kids were before Bethesda confirmed them.

It's really dumb to require someone to be online to play a single player game.

Its good, that you dont need be online with steam to play the game actually!
I dont care if the game needs Steam or not, I like steam. You cant lose disks or scratch 'em.
You got all (alot) of your games in one place.

Ah, yea you do.
You have to log in at steam to play the game.
you can go in offline mode after logging in, but you still had to have internert. And normally you don't lose internet at expected times, but much rather at unexpected times.(not to mention, I know games on steam that kick me out if I lose conection while playing)
2nd thing.
I am fine with being able to activate the game on steam, but not with being forced to do so.
Why do some of you people that like steam love to screw everyone ells over by making a devense of the obvious false?
I mean you could say you like steam and would love to be able to use it with skyrim, but still support the view that no one should be forced to.
Because I am sure YOU too have things you would not like to see in the game, and at that point hope people support you. But why ought I to, if it is something does not affect me, but you just loved to screw me over in my own fight?

I'm not buying Skyrim until Steam shuts down if Skyrim is going to require Steam. Remember Dragon Age? That was terrible. Get banned on the site, you get banned in the game. If we get banned on Steam, we'll probably be banned in Skyrim. And not everyone has internet connection.

If it hasn't been said yet:

I don't think it REQUIRES steam. It might, but personally I haven;t heard that it will. Most I've heard is that it will have a Steam version.

Most games just have a retail version and a Steam version, whereas some other games (like Red Orchestra and most Valve games) requires you to register your retail bought copies with Steam.

That said, Steam really isn't that bad. Personally I think it;s the best that happened to PC gaming since Direct x 1.

I'm fine with there being a Steam version...but I have a huge problem if it requires it.

Uh, eeeh no. If you have logged in once, you are able to go offline mode even without internet if steam got your logininfos etc. It recognizes on the startup, that u have no connection and asks you if you wanna go Offline-mode.
So stop talking trash.

Because I am sure YOU too have things you would not like to see in the game, and at that point hope people support you.

Then I'd not buy it. Period. I dont raise any claims for a game someone else is developing.

Additionally, when I lose internet, one of the things I like to do is play my games. I shouldn't need permission from an online server to play my offline games. I shouldn't even need permission at all.

You only need the initial credentials when you first power up your computer to log into steam, any internet lost afterwards has no effect bar achievement earning.

Yes, but Steam is not a feature. It is a requirement.

I am not really sure about the whole offline thing. I remember having problems with it before, at least for certain on games that offer multiplayer(but also offer singleplayer), but that might be do to the makers of the game.

but wait, how does this work with multiple steams then? I mean, if you are able to log into steam with no internet conection, whatsoever. Can't you just log into multiple times? I mean.. that kills the reasoning of the whole thing. I could still play skyrim on two PC's at the same time if I liked to. There must be a catch because I am sure they would not let it work like that.

anyway to the more important 2nd point.
You are still neutral to it, but instead of making this less of a flame war topic and more of a united message topic.. you decide to make it a flame war topic just because you do not care to affected the company developing it? I assure you, before this day is done you will find something to whine about, and I will throw you your own quote againt your head.

It doesnt matter, its part of a game and you know it BEFORE you actually buy the game. So if it bothers you, dont buy it.

Edit: Actually Im not whining about things in Skyrim, because if they bother me, Ill just cancel my pre-order and leave the forums. ;) problem solved.

So Steam will never, at all, in any way, prevent you from playing an offline game because it can't get online?

The answer to that is...No. Wait...how do I answer this? Yes? No? Err...let me just say this: Steam will prevent you from playing an offline game because you can't get online.

Then what is the point of this whole forum? I mean, a forum is good to discuss the topic, give ideas, give productive critique and let the developpers know stuff.
Yet you are saying, we should just be quite and let the game sink into hell if we do not like something.
Personally, I rather speak my mind, even if it something negative. And i would rather hear someone give me critque so I can improve something, then have them be quite just because they.. (am at a loss, why again are you against us speaking our mind and trying to mention when we have a problem with something?)

(and hey mod's, I am trying to stay peacefull, so don't lock or something.. please? because I really care about this topic)

Long as it's steam and not GFWL I'm fine. I love steam so much I might marry it. GFWL on the other hand, is clunky and awkward to use, and I hate it.

You got a point there. Im not against critisism but when DRM (or anything else) bothers you so much you start loudly to QQ its sometimes better to just quit.
Steam is a common DRM by now and people shouldnt be surprised if its used. It is not the first game using it and it wont be last.
DRM is a serious issue for devs since its their income. BTW: When people are complaining about beeing unable to be online for at least one time to play the game is just ridiculous - when you can be online on the forums you can be online on steam once aswell.
When people say they wont buy Skyrim because of Steam they should just shut their mouth, leave and dont bother the rest on the forums.
Its just a weak and pathetic try to compell the devs to not use the DRM/any other feature THEY dont like. But their opinion is not everybodys - nor mine!
The only opinions that matters are the devs and label ones. period. If they want Steam - Steam will come. No matter what you do.
