yeah, WHY got the bfg edition such a bad music synthesizer? It just sounds awful...
Even my Soundblaster Pro OPL3 soundcard didnt sound that [censored] like the BFG Edition music.
The music was produced with a Roland SC-55 Device. WHY the BFG doesnt have recordings of this device?? That would have made so much sense!! This way we could now listen to the music with its full authenticity how it was meant to sound like and all the full detail of it. But NO we have to take this bad Gravis ultrasound classic patches even emulated via timidity - thats what I've heard about how the music is playbacked in BFG Edition - I personally avoided the bfg due to several reasons, but I'm in the mood to complain about this. There are many people who dont know doom and then they get to hear for first time this awful music... Thats a shame.
I just dont get it why this was done this way?
That gives me a lots of questionmarks, like many other things like:
removed fast monsters for nightmare (except for zombies at least)
changed lighting ( I saw on this forum a quite good screenshot comparison to this, how the lighting was brightened up a lot.
no widescreen support (this wouldnt change the game at all, there is no reason to stay original at this point) - the nightmare difficulty actually changes the game though..
Here a comparison of sc-55 vs this awful [censored] bfg synthesizer:
