Very basic question about console commands

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 3:55 am

Hey everyone,

I've just started playing around a little bit with various console commands. Namely toggling clipping to aid in building settlements. Being able to fly up to the top of a building is convenient for doing this. I'm having a problem though. Starting this is simple...just opening the console and typing 'TCL' then hitting enter. However, I can't get it to go back to normal. How do I toggle it back? I tried typing the same command again, and it didn't do anything.

Make sure nothing is selected in the console when you TCL back to normal. If you've picked an NPC or anything when you enter the command, you're only toggling collision on that

I don't even know how I'd go about picking an NPC or any specific object to toggle. Is there some kind of "console commands for dummies" resource that anyone can recommend?

I've tried searching for this info on my own, but haven't really been able to come up with anything too helpful.

Don't click any object while you have the console open, or that selects that particular object for the TCL command.

With no object selected, to turn clipping back on again just type into the console...

tcl

....again.

Here is a http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands, and some info to get you started.

Thanks, that helps. I'm about to get some game time in now, so I'll play around with it a bit more and report back in.

sometimes it just gets a lil buggy, whenever that happens, I exit all menus, toggle vats (just to make it come up) then exit vats. Same thing I do whenever my gun 'disappears' but I can still pull the trigger and shoot, but it looks like I have no gun equipped.

Whenever that happens, just toggle vats, seems to reset certain things, then tcl works like normal again
