Very confused, instant deaths

Post » Wed Mar 25, 2009 10:24 pm

If I knew how to record vid from the xbox to play on here, I would. Not a common console player (and my machine simply can't handle this game well enough to try it there), so not very experienced with the tech ends of this.

That being said the problem is very, very simple, (and would be easily expressed via video perfectly)

In a nutshell, I'm being killed practically instantly by any gun at any range in any armor mode roughly half the time when playing multiplayer on the 360. I've walked into a room while someone was fighting someone else with the k-volt, been clipped by a single shot from it in the foot, and fallen over dead. I've been shot through a tent wall at ~25m from a grendel single burst while sprinting with a slow-motion headshot from the *first* bullet of the burst (it went into the slow-motion the moment the trigger was pulled, by the looks of the cam).

These are the type of kill I would normally shrug off as "well, maybe 3 people saw me at once and my time was up." or "perhaps I ran on top of a grenade right as he fired" mishaps that can happen so frequently in high-population areas. But as I've continued to play (out of some deep sense of self-hatred, apparently), this has become consistently half or more of my deaths. I checked my connections, and it can happen on any amount of connection, the dreaded "is there even a colored bar there?" to the full greens I presume mean I'm hosting. Always the same result.

Some of the killcams have been funny to see...as I just tump over for no real reason....but now its getting really, really old. To the point where I'm considering returning the game.

Is this a common problem? I've found tons of posts about hit detection, latency, etc....but nothing with this specific issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

well that's what I'm curious about mainly....I'm not seeming to suffer the penalties of lag in any way other than this....no teleporting people as I catch up, no moments where I spend half a clip shooting someone with no hit markers, none of the stealthed while firing nonsense some people complain about....just dying in one shot. happened again earlier where the person wasn't even facing me.....and it was the game "losing" killcam...and everyone was just like "uh....what?"

My understanding is that your situation is another sign of lag, and/or this game's poor Netcode. that same thing happened to me many times before I gave up and traded it in. I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff, maybe someone else would have better insight

Join the club, you're not the only one getting the same problem. It's primarly because there's no region filter, plus crappy netcoding doesn't help the issue. But's it's definately lag, and it's definately NOT because you have bad internet. It's because this game has some "issues" and I mean that in a offensive sense of the word, that need to be sorted out because it's killing the multiplayer experience you could be having.

Another reason is because they used the campaign aiming system in the multiplayer, which was a dumb move considering the campaign aiming system has a crap ton of autoaim, making it really hard not to hit a target, meaning that you'll get dropped in less than a few shots. It's because with the amount of autoaim it has, it allows for little human error being the deciding factor of a gunfight, and primarily make it a battle of internet connection too.

That's only a handfull of the most concerning problems with this game though, because if they took the time to fix that it would only make the multiplayer that much better for everyone. So now that you know what's wrong with it, it's up to you if you wanna keep playing knowing you're going to be experiencing this very often or until something is done about it.

the killcam shows only the last few bullets.
like if the killer fired the whole magazine in you, you ll only see the last few bullets that killed you.

to be honest I simpathize with TC, I wonder sometimes how in the hell I can get killed when I'm in full armor mode and some dude hit me with 2 bullets from his Feline 20 meters away...
Also killcams... best laugh I had in a while.
Hopefully, Section 8 Prejudice comes out tomorrow and I can finally play a fps with dedicated servers, no lag, no lagswitchers, no more crap.
I had fun with Crysis 2 but I think this is the end for me, reached lvl 28 in mp and I think this will be enough.
