a very controversial, but popular, topic

I don't really see how watching the genital organ of my character would improve gameplay.

Would it make me feel the game svcked because it wouldn't allow me to roleplay mastrubation or make me wish there was a peeing aiming mini-game or that I could insert it somewhere? No, it wouldn't change a damn thing in the game, it would be utterly pointless. Pointless things shouldn't be in the game.

Besides, getting an AO rating for the game would be commercial suicide.

I don't understand why the human body is so taboo and yet violence and killing is okay and sometimes sanctioned. If you look at all the best art and sculptures in the world, they are mostly all nvde. Personally, I am not expecting nudity, nor do I think it absolutely "necessary", but why not? I mean some people don't like knees or faces to be shown, they can just cover those if they want, but like in real life, humans have the ability to be naked, scantilly clothed, or fully, and I don't think that it would promote promiscuity or whatever the conservatives might think, so I don't even see it as that controversial, especially since the game will be rated M for violence anyways. six and the human body are entirely natural, why are we trying to censor that? I think we should be much more concerned with violence and war than something we all have, which is our bodies. I just really hope there is a wide variety of bodies for both genders, there should be the classic "hourglass" style woman of greek art, etc. (like Christina Hendricks) and the Kate Moss' look, and for men the Arnold Schwarzenegger look, and the slimmer type. I want to be male, but look more like me, and I am no Arnold Schwarzenegger, so I really hope there is a skinnier option.

I heard there was a gay scene in that, is there any truth to the story!?

There was in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP7RxNCa7Uw. (Content may not be suitable to some :P)

But yeah, that's really all there was in those games. Not an ounce of graphic nudity. Yet the media was not the least bit pleased about it. That is why I am staunchly opposed to the idea of nudity in Skyrim, where it can be taken past the extent it is in all of the other games. And yes, I do consider the ability to run around with full frontal nudity 100% of the time to be worse than a brief 10 second six scene, a la Red Dead Redemption.

Yes in DA:O there are romance options for both female x female, and male x male, but these same characters can also be paired the usual male x female.

A bold, and if not brave move on Biowares part imo.

Edit: Got ninja'd lol

But back ontopic; I could care less about what comes of the nudity or not. There are worse things out there after all.

In the same way decapitation or blood decals do? Or having NPCs walking around doing their business instead of just standing in one spot, waiting for you to arrive? Or insects and butterflies? RPGs are about immersion, details like that add to the realism of the game. Nudity doesn't seem to apply because people are raised to believe it's somehow offensive and you should cover yourself in shame. :shakehead: I agree people shouldn't be walking around naked in the game, but having your underwear glued to your [censored] is just silly.

Nudity doesn't equal six. Well, at least not to every culture. It's just another level of detail in any simulated reality.

With that said, I doubt they're bold enough to pull it off these days without bad publicity. In movies and TV it's pretty much common place, but games are still viewed exclusively as kids territory by the older generations that did not grow up playing.

Not really, combat is a major part of the gameplay. There are plenty of skills in the game related to combat, but there's no skill related to nudity.

I don't want anything get removed. What I'm saying is that first, it is is silly that society sees six worse than violence. 2. If the developers want to include it in the game and mark it mature, they should be able to make that decision, regardless if it is gore, violence, nudity or six. They are the artist, and they should choose what works or not for their art form. 3. I see six, violence, and gore, and it doesn't shake my morality nor those it change my approach to b a good person or citizen. however, it does change few people becuase they are week.

So in conclusion, I don't want to have anything removed, and want to give the freedom to the artist to choose. If it makes people squimish or upset, then don't buy the game. Like I said in a previous post, the artist will also have to make a decision if their freedom of expression is more important than their ability to pay their bills, and that is a question that they need to answer..not us.

Yes, we all want things that the society at large just don't get or won't approve. Bottom line is that no to include nudity in a game in the USA (especially full body nudity) will get a game a X rating instead of a M rating and retailers won't put it on their shelves and the game will not sell well. Parents will not allow their kids to play it. I agree it makes no sense but I also know that just going ahead and putting it in the game would be a financial disaster.

Changes like this take time for the society in question to become comfortable with such changes and that time unfortunately has not arrived. Maybe in another 20 years it will. And it isn't about "just don't buy it if it bothers you". Wish it was, but it's politically driven and of course we can't discuss that aspect here.

You know the world needs to be reset when natural behavior is a bigger issue that murdering and mutilating people and robbing people and blowing up buildings.
I want to be a naturalist now.

I hope we can create a world were the slightest bit of natural human body isn't so taboo.
The first step is the hardest.

Nudity is not needed in the game. My hope is that Bethesda does a much better job with making the bodies look better (which it looks like they have so far) and that they improbe the look of the underware that everyone wears but there is nothing to be truely added by even making it an option and would likely send the rating beyond Mature to advlt and creat sales restrictions they do not want. I think that this is the same reason that extreme Gore will not make it in the game

You're right, society doesn't seem ready. It's sad really, civilization has existed for thousands of years, and was even more tolerant of nudity millenia ago, what happened? How did we become less enlightened as time went by?
Well, it doesn't really matter, those of us who can use mods have the option, everyone else will need to accept the fact that Bethesda can't do something that would be a financial and political disaster. It's disgracefull that censorship is still alive and well, but that's the world we live in.

Out. It would simply create to much controversy. and it doesnt really add anything to the game other than "Hey look, nudity"

We live in a backwards society that largely considers severed heads more appropriate than nudity. For Bethesda's sake they should leave it to modders.

Also simple nudity would not get the game AO in the USA, but it would attract attention. There have been other M games with nudity, yes even the double-standard of considering male nudity worse than female nudity (blatant sixism favoring catering to heterosixual males) allowed a Grand Theft Auto game to show a fully nvde male from the front with an M.

Still, the anti-videogame nuts will freak out if they add it in probably. I would not mind it as an option but I just don't see it happening and the game just doesn't need it.

Seriously? If you want nudity, you're already on the internet and 50% of the way there.

Let the modders add it. Only reasonable thing. The game needs to be able to achieve as open of an ESRB rating as it can.

People saying it's not possible yet just reinforces the withholding of nudity in gaming by making people believe things are not ready. So it plays into the people trying to restrain progression. We're ready right now.

I don't have a problem with nudity per se, but of all the unrealistic things that will never be overcome in games, is this really anywhere near the top of the list?
Maybe I'm just not enough of a hardcoe RP'er, but I really don't remember many moments in Oblivion where I went "Oh, I wish I could just strip down naked". For that reason, there are millions of other things Beth could spend their time doing that wouldn't raise controversy and would improve the game to a greater degree. If you are one of those people that just get really irked by the underwear, there are mods. I just don't see a need to flout social norms for the sake of it...

Personally, I think it's highly unecassary.
I don't like nudity in games in general, I just don't think it really fits.

Thanks, but no thanks.
I'd, but rather leave it to the modders again.

dude, this is the elder scrolls, a mature fantasy rpg. Mature doesn't mean you should streak, nor should such a thing be part of the game. I mean, cmon how old are you? Grow up, for pete's sake...

who care if his way of playing is in the nvde if thats how he wants to play his rpg, the point is if it is a mature rpg then it will have a mature audience that should respect that and not freak out because he wants nudity, its not like he is asking for six scenes to be added, and even if he was it still wouldnt matter, the part that gets me is this is a game in which we can run around murdering every1 and people flip out over the mere mention of nudity, its a crying shame that is, and says alot about our mindset and our culture as a whole, are we all so cold blooded that we can kill without thought, but run to confession everytime we picture some girl naked,... lol AMERICA RULES BI@#*@s we want it all nudity six and bloody violence !

Sorry, you're confusing yourself with the general population of casual and non-gamers who would flip their freaking lid, and refuse to buy jimmy Skyrim because it's naughty = Less sales for gamesas. You might be ready, but the market is not.

It is not uncommon for games to get a ton of flak for having nvde files even available but not visible. I don't know about you, but it's hardly worth the risk when modders can do it without any of the negative impact on the developers. That's all there is to it. Nobody is progressing the cause of human enlightenment by adding nudity to the vanilla version of the game.
