a very controversial, but popular, topic

If you're so lonely you need nudity in your video games, maybe you shouldn't be playing video games....

They sort of had it in Arena/Daggerfall. Maybe upper bodies but no genitalia please. It's not necessary and just gives the game a bad image among parents (not that I care, but Bethe$da likes money).

Personally I'd prefer to see genitalia as opposed to topless girls everywhere. (but as I said I'm a prude when it comes to preserving the sacred women body for when I marry her :P) That is why I would like the "cloths" to be not stuck on the characters, but taken at your own leasiure. You could also break into someone's house and they might be bathing! wouldn't that add a depth previously not thought of! However with adding this there can be ABSOLUTELY no six. Because then it'd cross the line into hentai and that would most certainly put a red X on the game.

I personally don't care one way or the other. Some may argue realism, others may have a desire to roleplay as necrophilliac necromancers--who knows? But ultimately, from a business standpoint its a terrible idea, and we all know why. I do find it sadly ironic though, that this is the state of the society we live in. Its okay to create a game where we can slaughter villages, but a little virtual skin is considered some huge contoversial issue.

It's not really necessary. The media is touchy at best when it comes to six in video games. So they aren't going to do it.

It just leads to too many touchy subjects. Would you like there to be nvde children in the game?? Because it may be realistic, it just isn't going to happen, and just creates controversy and isn't necessary for good roleplaying.

Unless you are RPing an underwear thief, there is no way that you can't RP just as well with people that have underwear on.

I know! It's "HOO-RA!" for excessive gore and "Evil pervert" for Virtual skin. Which has more RP value, or even realism? Excessive gore or not having glued on cloths.

Pixelated genitalia are a popular topic ...i learn something new every day .

There are several ways nudity can be done , like a renaissance painting adding to aesthetics , like an advlt magazine focusing on sixuality or like a concentration camp photo adding to horrific atmosphere; in general nudity in games makes me feel like a pervert but if it can be used so V gets a +18 rating and all childish stuff are removed and replaced with more mature content like politics, sixism , racism , social injustice, true crime and stuff i am all for it.

for me I consider "nudity" a normal part of life and thus if every one starts walking around naked on the streets it would not matter :P

of course I would want it in since its realistic,

BUT if its gonna get Bethesda in trouble with the psychotic freakzoid activists and the guys that do the ratings then they should not put it in, mods shall take care of it.

All nudity would do is hurt the game's sales and cause controversy. So no. If you want it, let a modder make it.

Random strawman argument. Of course there won't be any naked children, because you CAN NOT KILL children to loot them. As for RPing there is many ways that having cloths not stuck to your body. For instance what if someone knocks you out and takes all your cloths in skyrim...you wake up an hour later and are naked and about to suffer from hypothermia....you quickly try to build a fire and get some food. After you're a bit more refreshed you skin some animals and make some cloths.

That'd be cool. Add to the realism a bit, but it isn't necessary.

If a game is already rated M, why not throw some [censored] in there?

It's not a childish thing (and I believe my age is on my profile, if not then it's 22) I know I'm not the only one who found it annoying that underwear was attached to your skin. It just makes no sense. (BTW you should try to make more mature comments then trying to insult someone by their age, the mods seem to not like that)

Nudity mods make little sense without other mods in Oblivion as you seldom see npc in their underwear. In Morrowind it made more sense; the dreamers looked more insane and you had naked nords and people without pants who refused to leave the water.
If you only see nvde npc then you loot their dead bodies it becomes pretty tasteless.

And yes we will get far to many different nvde body models

This topic is unnecessary, of course there will be a nvde mod. It is almost unavoidable.

Uhm... I'm wondering: what would happen if the game had an option that let you choose if you want full nudity or unremoveable underwear?

You know, one of those "mature settings" with a code for parents to prevent children from altering them.
Would that solve these kind of issues? Nudity, NPCs children, gore, etc.?

It surely would (that's something I've never thought about, characters in past TES never wash themselves), but underwear's fine with me. six belongs to another thread, but I think there can always be a fade out like when going to sleep so there won't be any embarrasing scenes for little Joe when his parents are walking by. It's not necessary as a graphical feature, but as a gameplay feature (I don't mean that you'll control it, but as a way for relations with other characters, just in code you know).

I do find it sadly ironic though, that this is the state of the society we live in. Its okay to create a game where we can slaughter villages, but a little virtual skin is considered some huge contoversial issue.

True. All body parts, interior (disembowelment) and exterior, are ok, except for a few.

I don't get the point of wanting everyone to be totally nakked; it could cause problems for Bethesda with the game and advocacy groups/etc.

If folks want that kind of stuff, they should get the PC version and wait for the modders to do it (where it is much safer for Bethesda).

Personally I don't see what it adds to the Game.

Not really a straw man argument. If BGS goes down the "every NPC can be naked" road, being able to kill children is also realistic. Which just leads to bad things.

And so if you have some underwear on you're safe from hypothermia?? I think now. You can RP that situation just the same if you have underwear or if you don't. Why would they take your underwear anyway?? Do they have a short supply??

I, like many others, wish I could mod the game, however it seems that moding consoles is not possible. So to say mod it say spend

$800 and the game so that you can mod it with what you want. (please people do not turn this into a computer V console war) What I want you to realize is that modding isn't something that is available to everyone, and this is an aspect that wouldn't be bad. Even those against nudity would not have to take off their underwear or take other people's off. Those over 18 can buy it and those under 18 well probably will get it if their parents allow. Either way it wouldn't have to be invasive at all nor would you see people running naked everywhere. Most likely place to see people in their underwear would be in their homes or at a pub when they lose their shirts gambling.

As previously mentioned (not by me) underwear is important in keeping your valuables warm. (so you don't lose em) Someone could strip you for any number of reasons, maybe you aren't wearing underwear under your pants! that 1 pound encumbrance you found unnecessary so you got rid of them, or maybe you have a phobia. Any number of ways you can look at it. Even you just meet up with some cruel bandits who's friend you left to die naked in the mountains! So many possibilities especially now in gaming.

Not to turn it into a console war, but the arguement that PC is too expensive is nonsense.

You can build a PC with console quality graphics for $400-$500, and if you factor in the fact that (if you have a 360), then you pay for XBL Gold (probably), and if you have an HDTV then your "cheaper console" just got more expensive than a PC. So that is not an argument. It's just ignorance and the lack of actually researching the subject before blindly making claims that create the very console vs PC war you're trying not to start.

What's the use in keeping your valuables warm if your about to die of hypothermia?? If you're really that bothered about RPing a person that likes to let people die naked in the cold then perhaps you should have bought a PC.

Sounds good to me. I am in. As long as it's optional, i don't really understand why anyone would be against it. You don't have to use it people, what's the problem? What right do you have to decide how other people should play the game? And don't tell me it would hurt it's sales. If that was the case, then why in the world does games like Mass Effect, Heavy Rain, God of War and the Witcher sell so well?
