Very happy with fallout 4 BUT......minor whinges

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 3:33 am

I waited with great anticipation and yes it has fulfilled expectations mostly.

But the settlements are deriving me to despair as IF I receive another whinge from Abernathy farm about

raiders or sanctuary hills about Ghouls I will go insane as both have had me cleaning out multiple locations

x3-4x over(Olivia has been cleaned out 4x alone, Corvega 3x etc) . I am yet to receive such a quest from any

other settlement and most have more people than the above two.

As well the settlements about to be attacked give me rarely a clue (brief flash in top left corner almost always

missed) and I have to revert to an old save as these are some of the best fire fights (12 gunners attacked

one)in the game.

Also some degree of lessened briast feeding of the settlements would be nice as I have the impression that

I must carry rolls of toilet paper with me always as that is that I seem to have to do constantly at each settlement

(metaphorical) as they cannot manage for a second without my presence. I quite like the settlements but so far

I have scarcely finished a quest other than a settlement one and I am already lev 34 (mind you I did do a lot of

early roaming), So the ability to delegate to a leader would be nice just to actually get on with the game while

those exclamation marks 99% of the time have NO value and I am SICK of asking settlers and only being able

to trade as no one there knows whats up and while they do come up to me and tell me the problem about 1 in 20

I have usually fixed it already(although placing beds under showers in the Slog was really "bright" of me )

I also wonder why some of the obvious new vegetation(see fungi) has no use and is not inter actable as I

wondered if magic mushrooms were on the menu and I am yet to find a use for not a few that I could collect

(perhaps I need more science)

The perk/attribute system is excellent and forces choices. I spent hours before I came up with 3,3,3,4,5,5,5,

although wasting 4 in Charisma almost had me suicidal initially. I am a little annoyed with how much Perception

I will need but...I will have it one day

Overall minor annoyances but FAR better than F3 or FNV and well on the way to competing with F2 as a legend.

Glowing mushrooms are part of the Radaway recipe.

Brainfungus is used in the Mentats recipe.

Yeah settlers can be frusterating.. Give them work, set some to scrapping etc.. If you enjoy being raided ( I do too at times, some times it is annoying when it happens back to back ) then just enjoy it or as I do I dont respond and take a bite out of happiness and loss of a few items that need to just get repaired. Often raids I get no warning until I travel to the settlement then I get attacked. These attacks can be a few rad roaches to a full on Power armored couple of raiders with a legendary and some psychos.. or a number fluctuating group of Feral ghouls.. to Gunners.

Keeps things interesting.

Without struggle there would be no challenge though so every complaint I have I never mean full heartedly. I suppose the worst thing thats happened was I got stuck behind a tilted couch after a glowing one mauled me backwards. Wearing power armor. I couldnt get out with my back against a wall. I was inside so couldnt fast travel. It wasnt my settlement yet so couldnt use build mode to move the couch and was afraid I would have to back track and fight the ghouls again..

Not a big deal even so but.. After mashing the jump button for 3 minutes I got out. Sometimes the glitches are charming as much as they are annoying.

Thank you for the reply. I meant the mushrooms that grow on the ground and on trees that do not glow and look usable and should be but are not. I have been trapped physically about 3x and after 15 mins of button mashing, gave up and tcl'd out : (

I quite like the settlements but I would like a slight increase in self sufficiency so that I can explore which now seems impossible as I have a back log of some 20 quests still untouched. I guess ignoring settlement problems is the WTG but it does seem slack.

I quite enjoy the raids as they ALWAYS pinpoint the weak spot and are well thought out( well by synthetics and gunners 5/5, others less so: raiders 3/5 SuperMs 2/5) although the super mutants attacking the beach settlement tend to mass attack turret nests with the expected results...I guess that most of them are stupid : )

Anyway a great game IMHO and as none are faultless my whinges are minimal but replay ability is very susceptible to such minor annoyances as a rule as they become a slog which is counterproductive to enjoyment.

As I only play VH is there anyway to survive poison besides moving around and taking snapshots? I have managed a couple of mireluke hunters but the queen is up and there is no room there for that . I guess I can nuke or missile her but I hate doing that as maschism must lie deep within. Oh yes and the mireluke king? Yes this time his UltraSound attacks actually do work and how!!

I kind of had this happen to me, but it was my fault. I was in a town where I went out onto the top of a building and decided I would have fun doing some parkour. Well I ended up falling through a hole in a roof, where I could have gotten out but I fell on a side that had no exit hole. However despite trying to crawl through a hole that was clearly bigger than I for 15 minutes, I decided I was going to have to go back an hour from my last save point :(
