Very High + Driver AA > Extreme? (+Question about settings)

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 8:40 am

I'm playing on an old GT 240 here and when I play on Advanced/Very High I can play on:

1440 x 900 and ~45+ FPS

But on Extreme only:

1280 x 800 ~25-30 FPS.

So what I did was enable 4X AA for Crysis 2 through nVidia control panel and now am playing on Very High..

And can run it at a perfect 30 FPS on

1440 x 900.

Except now it isn't blurry as hell.

Are there other differences between Very High and Extreme that I might be missing out on with Medium (like Water Quality, Lighting, etc.)

Or should I be satsified with REAL AA on Medium actually being better than Crytek's "Extreme".

Crysis uses its own method of AA, so whatever you AA you force it on your control panel it will have no affect.

But there is a clear difference.

30fps is perfect? I cant stand anything lower that 45fps. Thats why i don't play on Extreme.
I play on very high and get 50-75fps.

Problem is that if you want to play multiplayer you can't use the highest setting because that "AA method" is a full screen blur effect and there is no way you can spot a cloaked enemy especially when he is moving.
