hey guys. i currently have no fps atm other than black ops, which is painful to play. like ive previously stated, brink is the only good looking fps coming out until the huge fall of 2011 that will include uncharted3( my 2011 GOTY) resistance 3, battlefield 3, and yes unfortunatley mw3.
im counting on SD to deliver a quality shooter unlike anything we have ever seen before. i really dont want to wait for fall to hit before i can buy another quality game. i mean, if brink flops, i will just buy la noire, which looks kool. team bondai/rockstar were stupid and felt multiplayer wouldnt be neccesary so i doubt ill be holding onto that game for more than a few weeks.
my gut feeling is telling me its not going to be as good as we expect. New IPs usually dont do so well in the very competitive fps market. i hope to God i am completely wrong. but sadly, my interest in the game is declining. i want a fun, action paced game, but i do think the 20 sec respawn timer will kill any hopes of that. 10 sec would be perfect IMO. anyways, good luck SD. i hear you have a good background, and i hope brink is the game we all expect it to be. just a few things taht are scaring me right now. must be tough to be a dev these days.....
Okay, take a deep breath, lol.
Okay, each game (even sequels) is an investment in which you take a risk. Just like everything in life, sometimes those
investments may disappoint you while others may meet some or most of your expectations. But, be reasonable or realistic with your
expectations. Not every game is going to meet your highest expectations, and that's just life, ya know?
You either trust /don't trust your instincts and take the plunge and accept whatever comes or just wait for the right time or
just don't jump at all, lol.
Just keep informed, watch gameplay videos, read/watch dev interviews, keep aware of other people's reactions, and
keep reasonable/rational expectations and make your decisions from there.
I would even recommend playing SD's previous games, one of which is free and still have an active online community (W: ET)
to help with your decisions. ^_^
OT: Not every game needs multiplayer. There are many good single-player games out there in which multiplayer could ruin the experience. I
wouldn't want anyone else in my epic Elder Scrolls adventure that features MY character as the lone hero, lol.
