So, I'm at the end of doing the Black Book quest "The Shallow Regent". I obtain my bonus and return to Solstheim...and it's everything alright until I appear again in White Ridge Barrow. Then a message appears on top of the screen, saying literally: " was equipped" (yes, it doesn't say what was equipped), and an http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag158/Dovakhan/Screenshot8354_zpsa450d742.png appears below my character. I've tried looking at my Active Effects (nothing wrong appears), waiting, going to another cell, saving, then rebooting the computer and reloading...and nothing. Anybody knows how to remove it?

BTW, the only mod I have that modifies Dragonborn in any way (AFAIK) is it's Unofficial Patch.

Can you please list your mods? Also, have you used BOSS to place your mods in the proper load order and TES5Edit to clean them?

You have read the Sallow Regent - right ???

and you chooses one of the 3 effects - try to read the Sallow Regent again to change to one of the other effects.

Give up on that save and return to one from before you got the weird message, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1339340-xbox-360-bug-report-topic-v3/page-10#entry20871304 even on the Xbox 360, so it is nothing to do with mods, just a rare glitch where your character can suddenly equip a near by special effect. You are not ever going to get rid of it, so returning to an earlier save game is going to be your only option.

There are several things that have to happen to trigger that message, and you can get the message and not get any strange effect, but best to go back to before you got the message, or who knows what you might pick up next. My character was in Blackreach and started http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j215/aussie500/Skyrim/BlackreachCenturionman_1.jpg~original like a steam centurion, playing around with triggering the glitch, he could pick up http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j215/aussie500/Skyrim/watereffect.jpg~original as well, just depended on where he was standing when he triggered the glitch.

If your character equips a magical effect on PC, you can get rid of it if you can figure out what the magical effect is. Once you know what the effect is, you can simply use addspell (to add it to your character) and then removespell (to remove the newly added and the sticking effect). Works every time. The unofficial patches have already prevented some magical effects from sticking to player character (draugr eyes, centurion steam, icewraith and Spriggan FX). If you figure out what the effect is/was, please let us know.

Yep, I'm gonna do that...it's a shame that bug happens to me every time I want that bonus (tried it 2 times). I guess I'll just pass.

Well, if you know a way of how to identify the magical effect, I'd be happy to report it...
