Can I ask how you get one always thought it was if you lost a relative?
I'm thinking they may go for he was in the unit the became the BoS and could give him some good lines about how proud their ancestors would be or how traiters breed traiters
Back when? back in 2070?.
The Anchorage Simulation has women combat soldiers. They could be seen around the base or part of your squad. So clearly The U.S Armed Forces of 2077 did not practice gender discrimination in combat roles.
From displaystogo.com for about 32 dollars.
From what I saw the area in question can be seen from the gas station where you pick up the dog. Then again it could have been rigged for the trailer. The point is, he's a veteran and that will count for something in the game. Perhaps not as much as some claim, but it has a degree of importance.
I'm really hoping it's not something so simple. I want a really good plot twist, and I have a suspicion we may get one.
Edit: or I'm hoping we get one.
It seems that the Fallout world is the "ideal 50s" but with all the "red scare" paranoia intact. That means that there is not gender discrimination, no racial discrimination (except maybe against the Chinese) and no sixual discrimination. It would make perfect sense for a woman to have been a soldier and as previously mentioned they are in fact seen in Operation Anchorage.
Well, according to the leaked script (yes, I'm using it), the male protagonists great great-grandfather fought in WWII. Now, I'm a military brat, my grandfather fought in WWII, my father and his siblings all signed up for military service when they came of age. I would've signed up for service when I came of age, but had health issues that disqualified me (nothing that seriously impacts my daily life, but would impact me carrying 100+ pounds of equipment and running several miles). Chances are, the male protagonist has a long family history of service to the military. So that flag is probably from someone in his family who fell in service.
As for Veterans meeting, my grandfather is a member of several veteran organizations, like The American Legion. When they do meetings... they typically do not let non-Veterans have the floor unless it involves military discussion, vet or former vet (passed away). So I highly doubt he's going there to discuss anything but military/veteran affairs.
As for what branch he's in. There are only two possible branches I see him to be in, the Army or the Marines. Why? https://youtu.be/BRFAuDOlK5Q?t=205. The only people referenced so far as actually fighting with power armor are US Army, as per what we know of the origins of the Brotherhood of Steel. Now, it would not be unbelievable if the Marines, who are also frontline soldiers much like the Army, had power armor units. But I doubt they'd give power armor to the Navy or Air Force... who do not typically fight on the front. Though it's possible there were some units assigned power armor to help with the insurrections happening in the US and Canada.
Yeah, it seems, but does not mean it is. We'll see when Bethesda decides to unveil the mystery.
Well I'm pretty sure that gender discrimination probably doesn't really exist in Fallout, pre or post-war and we've seen evidence of that. As for racial and sixual, at least according to the Fallout 4 announcement trailer, it may not really exist either judging from the interracial lisbian couple that can be seen http://41.media.tumblr.com/9b03b24d52cbf345841f2eeda58a4dd9/tumblr_npdxxbeosm1qbrnrro1_1280.png.
Operation: Anchorage had female soldiers that could appear in your Strike Team.
And why are those considered a couple?
I may be wrong but it appears that the one on the left has her arm around the right one. Again, I think that's what that is, I may be wrong.
This don't make you a couple... I'm more under the impression they are best friends. And they hold each other because of fear. It's war, remember?
And there's a Vertibird... which means that's cold because of the wind of the vertibird.
Good question! There is a bit more to the opening sequence, it seems, where we may learn.
For the longest time I thought this was 'shopped but nope. Legit.
Living veterans have flags too. I have one in my shadow box that commemorates my service with my medals, ribbons, ranks devices, and patches. Mine is not official, just something my wife made me when I got out after 12 years. Now my wife's is, she did her 20 years and was presented with her flag during her retirement ceremony.
That's a big assumption for something that occurs so commonly without requiring an intimate physical relationship.
Those shorts are terribly short.
I'm willing to take them as a couple unless it's stated otherwise. ~shrug~ I don't generally grab my friends by the waist and pull them closer when I'm/they're afraid. It seems like a weird amount of effort to go through to communicate 'just friends.'
They are given at funerals of vets, but vets are also given them after their tours of duty, like the Gulf War. My son (an Army Combat Medic) got one also when he came back from OEF in the Mid East.
I did note that the power suit was being used by the PC in the vids. Honestly I never used one in any of the prior FO games just due to the requirements needed to use it and it just wasn't my play style. So they may have changed everything up so that anyone can wear it (like armor in Skyrim) or the PC is given the ability to use it immediately due to their background. OR, they just had the PC use it for the demo just to show it off. We'll see I guess.
I know many women who do this... And they are no couples.
And I know many women who do this and they are couples. Me choosing to believe something does no one any harm.
No it don't harm anyone... but I see no indication for them to be a couple... I don't go around and claim all women who touch each other to be lisbian couples...
And your logic would be like:
'I know many murderers who eat bread.' Which don't mean that everyone who eat bread is a murderer. Of course female couples toach each other! But this don't mean that females who touch each other are a couple.
No it doesn't. I choose to believe the touching here does tho so...
Can we please move away from this lisbian couple topic? It could go either way, and it's completely irrelevant to the discussion and is just derailing things.
Well the whole point I was trying to make with that is that it seems that the in the Fallout world of 2077 it seems that racial, gender and sixual discrimination may not really exist which would mean Women in the military which would mean that's it's quite possible for the female PC to be a veteran. Personally I'm thinking both are veterans and that they met in the army or something.
