Now I'm startin to lean towards the hoax camp. The guy is trying to redo what people see a mistakes.

So... We don't know. People just need to breathe and calm down.
"It's real"
"Oh wait now it could be fake"
"Yeah it's fake"
Oh hell yeah it's real after all"
"Or is it?"
This is the internet. Don't believe everything you read. I am talking to everyone not just you ka4narky. I haven't felt this burned out before in all my time on this forum.
Yeah me too. Since the website and the account is undoubtedly connected at this point... It has to be fake because Beth would not simply revealed the FO4 logo on that twitter account.
Conclusion: 80% a fake.
Exactly. Why have a countdown if your twitter is going to reveal everything with pictures and #fallout? Well, there's still hope for a VGA announcement.
Sorry, why do you think the website and tumblr/twitter are connected? As far as I can tell, they aren't, and the tumblr is 100% fake. The website seems about 50/50 at the moment.
Edit: Oh, right, just saw it. The Bridgeport thing on thesurvivor2299 has been known for days, y'know. It's just the hex codes on the end that might be new. The tumblr is absolutely a fan-made copycat as far as I'm concerned.
Doesn't matter how long, since it still proves that the website and twitter are connected. I haven't seen the tumblr, so I got to check it out. No official calling out on the other two sources though, but then again, very likely that both are fakes. There just aren't any possibility that Beth can be Thttps://pbs.twimg.com/media/BZNObjsCEAAVjXC.jpg:large obvious. (It's a nice picture though).
Yep. Didn't I read something about a grain of salt a while back or was I just dreaming?
Right now, as was the case earlier in this thread, I'm assuming this is fake. No hopes, no letdowns people.
Ya thats kind of a give away that its fake. It gets rid of the surprise of the countdown. I'll give whoever did this some credit though, he got gamers everywhere excited for Fallout 4.
People have known about the Bridgeport mp3 for days - you literally just need to right-click "view source" to see the names. Anyone can do it. It's entirely possible that they're two separate hoaxers riding off each other's work; the Tumblr guy seems better at graphics, for instance.
I also pointed out in an earlier thread that the metadata of the graphics on the site suggest it was made by an amateur, as it was using relatively old Adobe software (marketing firms make sure to update their licenses yearly) and was also made at around midnight at the user's local time. this would also would've put the creator somewhere in Europe unless I'm mistaken, going by when the site was updated with the Vault-Tec graphic. The website is, if anything, more fake than the Tumblr.
But...
...On the upside, I am almost certain there will be Fallout 4 news around the VGAs anyway. Here's a bit of a breakdown of why, which I think everyone should read:
Bethesda has not commented on the teasers, which understandably a lot of people take as confirmation for their legitimacy. But allow me to explain why this is entirely false, and yet gives a strong clue that some real Fallout 4 news is in the works. Essentially, the issue is with how teasers are marketed: inevitably when real teaser sites are created, the publisher/developer will remain tight-lipped about what it means and whether they even own it, even though their name, IP and server will be all over the web data. The reason is pretty obvious - they want to build hype without spilling the beans on too many specifics, so you get something just short of complete confirmation - usually just "no comment yet". They did it with Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Dishonored and probably a lot more games that I never followed.
The one danger with this approach is that if you don't comment on genuine teasers, then you can't comment on fake teasers either. Just think about it, there's only two options: it's fake, or its real. If they say "nah it's fake" to every fake teaser on the web, then what are they going to say to a real teaser? "No comment?" It would force them to show their hand, because the moment they give any response other than "it's fake", you know something's up. As a result, they say "no comment" to everything, as they know that an unequivocal announcement will occur sooner or later anyway.
On the flip-side, if an announcement were years away they'd probably be more inclined to say "it's fake", because most people would just forget about it and it would be a waste of time to wind everyone up for ages. If an actual teaser and reveal is imminent, however, then the reasons for simply ignoring the fake teaser and refusing to comment begin to stack up much higher.
Thanks for clearing that up. Now I can finally go back to studying because I got an exam on Tuesday.
Yes this is what I feel happened. It was simply a big coincidence the pranksters started at the same time it makes sense for Bethesda to show us something of their own.
What do you guys make of this? http://i.imgur.com/gpCifT6.png
Fake as all hell. The Half Life 3 debacle earlier this year had a HL3 trademark filled. It turned out to be fake. So there is a loophole allowing someone to do this.
I thought the same when I first saw it, but we'll know soon enough depending on if these trademarks are approved.
From what I remember, Bethesda trademarked 'Skyrim' almost a year before announcing it, so it doesn't neccecarily point to an upcoming announcement. It is something to keep in mind, though.
