viability of a nvde Crusader

Post » Wed Nov 24, 2010 9:10 pm

In RPGs, traditionally I have always played a "nvde Crusader" type character. This means I wear no armor, no clothes, no shield, no spells, no bow, no inventory (except for essential quest items of course).....just a big-ass long sword and a desire to sterilize the land of non-believers. It's most definitely a skill-based way to play...combat is tense and visceral.

I'm wondering how viable this will be in Skyrim...of course I know it will be a challenge, but I'd really like for the gameworld to be flexible enough to accommodate my play style.

Cool story bro.

It's still Elder scrolls and Skyrim is emphasizing the whole "You are what you play" so go for it. And you just gave me a great idea to pass time until 11.11.11

You figured you'd beat the witches to stealing your clothes huh.

I think it should be possible. Dungeons will be level locked, so you may go through the same low-level dungeon multiple times just to level some skills. Work your way through the world like that. Not sure how the dragons will like your teensy nekkid self though.

Sounds hard but possible. You may want to consider going with 2 Longswords or a claymore to up your attack dammage

Just be sure you play as a Nord. Let's keep this lore friendly.

If the game was set in Fiji or a tropical island, maybe. However being in the wind swept North? I will keep my personal sword covered thank you very much.

All dungeons??? So what if I enter all dungeons at level 1... I seemed to go through all the dungeons in Oblivion without gaining hardly any levels.

No, they would lock to their lowest set level. Some dungeons are going to be set at a higher "lowest" level than others. So you could be level 1, walk into a level 15-20 (it will only level if you haven't visited it yet. Then will lock in when you do.) dungeon, it would lock in to level 15, but its still level 15, meaning you would still get your ass handed to your until you get around that level.

I'd rather go as a heavily armored hand to hand specialist, punching dragons IN THE FACE!

Sounds rather difficult although possible. All i can say is you better block when someone attacks you or your gonna die. Shame the AI won't support bandits running in sheer terror at the sight of a naked Nord frothing at the mouth with a giant sword in his hand.

That, or the game might include "Surviving getting hit really hard multiple times" as something "you get better at doing as you do it." So, it could be possible to end up a naked HP-soaking Naked Tank in Skyrim... but the cost of healing potions would be staggering.

No TES game has made armor "neccessary", as some people seem to believe. I've had my Completely Unarmored characters take lots of hits in the games.

I admit, I've done the same, except I usually play as a Khajiit when I do it.

Looks like the mods killed his avatar. I gotta be honest his idea is quite interesting for a challenge i've never tried playing a close combat fighter that isn't geared to the teeth. Although i think my character would actually have some pants on if i did it.

How awkward did that make "You are the one from my dreams?"

Not to mention Baurus' decision to leave you alone in a room with the Emperor later on.
