Viable multiplayer suggestion

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:09 am

I would hate to see ES ever become multiplayer. For me it's a completely personal experience.

To be fair I would be amazed if anyone reading this would actually prefer any ES, especially Skyrim, to be a Multiplayer experience (which we know it won't be). I also believe that whatever effort that was put into introducing coop elements, or visiting each other's game worlds would take a lot more hassle and valuable Bethesda clicking and keying time than the benefit one would receive.

However, what would be good would be something like the Arena from OB - except you got to pick your character(s) against other people's characters from around the world.

So you would have your own personal Skyrim to gad about in, but you could go to one or two arena's scattered about the place to take other PCs on - just in the confines of that limited environment - that would be common to all player systems.

If this was to work that would have to make that area unmoddable - I don't know how many of these mods work but any mod that would give an advantage in a fight would have to be either nullified or turned off by the player before their being allowed to compete

Either random matches, matches with mates, matches against randoms in same class/type/weapon type, clan matches, game types etc

What say ye?

No, it couldn't work. Even if they managed to remove all mods while in this environment, you do not need mods to get an unfair advantage. This would not work. Ever.

OK, I am now just going to tell you you are wrong, but not tell you why.

In addition to that I am going to state it in terms of eternity.

SRSLY, if you're gonna be so damn absolute, at least clarify. How can one gain unfair advantages without mods?

As far as I am concerned they only way this would fail would be due to mods.

EDIT Read the post Skarain, for you clearly have not. I have been playing your game (ES) for over 10 years.

I used to be one of the people who wanted MP in ES but I kind of changed my mind since I realized that to do that gamesas would have to be constantly updating the game with new weapons and armor so that every player wasn't all using the same "best" weapons. I really would like to see them adding a bunch of new weapons and armor since I always feel like there isn't enough, but thats besides the point.

The only thing that would make MP work for ES would be some kind of guild system and large team based dungeon diving. But guess what, there wow, so yeah I finally get why gamesas doesn't do multiplayer. CO op would be fun and not hard or costly. One of the big reasons I wanted MP in the first place is being able to trade with other peoples characters.

And about the arena idea, I have always thought that would be lame (my opinion), it would be too much like Elderscroll themed street fighter for my taste.

I dont think a multiplayer arena would be so simple..

what if you have someone with enchanted daedric armour fighting a level elder scrolls noob?

unless personal gear is replaced with generic armour/weapons for the sake of fairness.

if so it would get boring after a while,

Is there any way I can change the topic of this thread? People are clearly too imbecilic/full of coffee/plagued by hormones/in a rush to bother reading what I have written. I offended, you are the latter, I assure you. The other options would be too busy typing OMG GTFO MULTIPLAYED TES NO FCKIN WAY MAN!!!!!!111111111111111111111oneoneone

I DO NOT WANT ES TO EVER BE A 'MULTIPLAYER GAME' THE IDEA IS ABHORRENT TO ME - READ MY SUGGESTION AND CONSIDER WHAT I PROPOSE

How many times have people found a way to hack a game without any kind of construction set? It happens every day. Even on the XBox people have found a way to hack and cheat Multiplayer games without any kind of construction set. That is why it will never work.

Personally, I don't want valuable resources wasted on Multiplayer. If they want to make Multiplayer, use another game and another totally different dev team.

There is already a co-op/multiplayer topic here. Please use it.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1150059-the-engine-and-possible-co-op/

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112031-fallout-multiplayer-discussion-thread/

Take your pick but there is no need for any more thanks.
