(Video) GT Bonus Round from PAX

I love listening to Ken and Todd talk. They have so many interesting ideas, I just wish Jaffe didn't dominate the "discussion" with his rant.

People who agree should listen to "Irrational Interviews" where Ken and another Irrational Games dev (sorry idk the name) interview other people within the game industry, comic industry, etc. I believe the first one was with Todd.

i can see what jaffe was talking about and appreciate what some of the more level headed posters have said in this thread. however he did show no class. that much is quite clear. u can dispute the value of class, but certainly he didnt have it. to be fair it was enjoyable to see a REAL debate on these kinds of things and so i appreciate jaffe for that. personally i can see what he is saying as self critique, because yes half of god of war felt like a cutscene or a quicktime event (doesnt everyone remember that GOW brought QTE to the fore in gaming?).

I agree tho, less tell more show, which is basically what hes saying (but in gaming terms). games have been going in the direction of flashy telling but its still telling. Oddly, i felt too that he seemed to be attacking TES, howver i dont see why. TES has the least amount of that crap of any game i know. Unless you are including dialogue. Todd has a tendency to play the devils advocate (hence why he refers to sports games alot, to show his diverse taste, when im sure most rpg fans hate sports games) but that can backfire when you face an aggressive force such as jaffe, as you can see.

However what i dont like about his show dont tell argument is that its this post modern crap that argues against context and against meaning. granted most games have [censored] for story, but hell most movies do now too. ill agree if you dont have a story to tell dont bother, but at the same time if we stop trying well...all we have is a bunch of mouse mazes to run around in.

The bozo at the far left is an idiot. He will never shut up and its all about him. He should not have the right to be on that panel with Todd Howard. Oh, and Bioshock was boring in my opinion.

The main difference is Todd is a normal person and the other two are half-crazy. Notice all the movements and expressions they have to make and stuttering to make their points across while Todd simply is calm and collective. THAT's who I want to make my game, he made the other two look like losers.

Skyrim will appeal way more than the other two to the larger crowd.

I liked it but I think it would have been more interesting if it was Ken, Todd and Casey Hudson(Mass Effect series).

this i completely agree.. these people all created awesome worlds... mass effect and skyrim especially... he didn't really seemed like he fit but he did have a good personality to stir stuff up
