Video card? GTX690 or Titan?

Post » Fri Mar 08, 2013 10:17 pm

Hi all,
i've got some money to spend/waste on my new PC build.

So far i bought:

i7-3930K
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
16 GB ram Corsair Dominator @2400MHz
Corsair AX1200W
couple of SSD OCZ Vector

and i don't know which is the best choice between

single GTX690
2 x GTX690 (i'm scared about quadSLI scaling and support by software house)
single GTX Titan (i'm not very impressed by the bench. Very high, avg: 38fps 1920@1200)
2 x GTX Titan

suggestions?

i play @1920x1200 on single monitor
i also have 3 Dell UltraSharp U3011 for sim racing but i'm not worried about performance with sim racing games

how can you not be impressed by the Titan? it is the fastest single card out there by a MILE... you are comparing it to a gtx690 which is a bad comparison... compare it to the 680 and you will understand what a beast this card is.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

look at that chart.

anyway, have you ran SLI before? I guess this is all a personal preference thing.. you will have less problems with a single GPU and that is always my preference.... although i've never considered shelling out 2 fcking grand on my GPU setup.

what card are you currently running?

Titans are a waste of money, they're slower than a 690 and AMD 7970 in real games and only were made to take the performance crown in a certain area like Compute and by no means value for money in real games.

If NVIDIA actually made the 600 series enable all the compute units it's would have been much better, but they put out a new £1000 card with those architecture changes and in some benchmarks get beat by a £400 card.

Now i'm running 2x GTX275 in SLI. Very good for Crysis 2 but not supported by C3

did i read correctly... whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Gtx titan SLI.. i dont think i will hear that for a very long time... infact i find it hard to believe you have that much cash just to burn.. either you have done very well for yourself (congrads, you deserve it then) or mommy and daddy have fallen for your cute little smile and coughed up over $2000... now i can say that i am speechless...

btw, id go for the gtx titan, seeing as "overpriced" is not really a obstacle for you.

I'd say 2 titans. If you can waste your money do it. 2 way sli should work but 4 way sli? That sounds painful and will probably be.

But it's always better to use just a single gpu ;)
