*VIDEO* "Fallout 3 - Day 18" - Fan Fiction

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:14 am

PLEASE let me know what you think.

This is a test.

I am seeing what people think of this, then I might do something similar. The journal of a character going through Fallout 3, start to finish.

Must be radiation sickness, I'd get that looked at.

Care to be more specific?

I can't really edit around *may induce vomiting*

Sure, I can be specific.

1) Doesn't feel like a journal, looks and feels more like a cheap History Channel biography.

2) Voice acting, which I presume to be you, svcks, and needs to be edited with some sort of software to make it blend with the sound of the game

3) I believe the mutie in your video, which you brutally murdered after he was running away, was Uncle Leo, and many FO3 fans will not take kindly to that. Though some may say he deserves that for being different from the rest of the muties.

One ounce of praise I can give this though is the music at the end, because that was pretty awesome.

Time for a veteran of Fallout to come in and give suggestions.

1. Edit your voice a bit. Make it sound like it's coming off a bad radio frequency. You know, all scratchy and such.
2. Fallout vets will try to flame you to death if you don't use 50's music. It's your choice and your music, but remember that.
3. Turn off your HUD. Some of those pics had that crosshair still on the screen.

1) I guess that's kinda true, it is written like a journal entry but it does have a sort of history channel vibe.

2) Blend with the sound of the game? What does that mean? (and no I am not a professional voice actor, I was just trying to sound depressed.

3) Yea I guess it was Uncle Leo, oops, I just thought it was some big monster. Even though I did do the final killing that other mutant helped.

Yea I was trying to be a bit different then the usual 1950s type thing. But maybe you're right, I could give that a try, make it more authentic to the universe.

Good call on the HUD, I just found where to turn that off and will do that in the future.

Anyone else have any comments, everything helps!

Blend with the sound of the game means make it sound more like an NPC in FO3 would sound. The voice just sounds very raw when put with the video, it sounds very homemade, not very much like any work was put into it to make it sound good. Now, if you don't have access to anything that might enhance the sound, then the video is pretty good I guess. I just really hate to have a perfectly good video ruined because of a voice. It's like when youre listening to the Ghouls. Same voice, gravelly, and, frankly, sounds stupid.

Good to know. Maybe try harder to get some better quality sound. Hmmm, I'll work on that.

I don't hate this at all. I think its actually an interesting approach to fan fiction. I'm intrigued by this form of narrated story telling. Mind you, it could be more polished - but so could anything we do. It's not like we make money off of this.

wow, I was really impressed with the production of this. Very good stuff. The vioce acting was a bit dry, but you are not going for an emmy here. Maybe using a filter on your voice to make it feel more part of the video, and not just something laid over the top.
Like I said, I am completely floored, dude, keep it up.
